Quote from The Moose :Any more swearing or abusive behaviour on the forums or on track and they will cancel your account. Apparently.

EDIT. Beaten to it again...

This is probably just a preemptive strike by iracing to keep Charlie Sheen from joining.

SR is based on a corners per incident (CPI) formula. Qualifying is much shorter than a race, same for warmup. If you turn 8 clean corners in oval qualifying, it won't do much for your SR.

After a very frustrating stretch of getting wrecked in rookie oval races, I resorted to TTs to get promoted. The more clean laps you run in a TT, the more it helps your SR. So I did almost 100 laps for the entire hour rather than just doing the minimum number of clean laps.

CPI is what makes me afraid to do the street stock at Charlotte this week - lots of incidents, very few corners.

Here's a really good source:

Quote from Crommi :I do agree that there should be better way to handle multiclass, but technically Pacecar is different car than the Mustang racecar; different 3d-model, very simple physics, no hitbox and so on.

I've not been in IR that long, but has anyone official ever said that the must-buy-the-multiclass-car thing needs to be fixed? I'd imagine it's working exactly the way they want it to. I raced a Mustang in the Grand Am series last season. While I wasn't excited about having to buy the DP, I decided it was worth it.

For the MX5/Jetta series, I'd think a lot of people are willing to buy the Jetta to have a chance to race the (free) MX5 on a nice variety of tracks.

Quote from Kid222 :Fun fact: this thread has most views and 2nd biggest post count on whole LFS forum.

Outside of the official iracing announcements forum, this thread is the most concise source of iracing news and discussion. I actually come here first to see what's going on in iracing.

Quote from Greboth :Bit of advice from people, just got my D licence so next cup to race. I am looking at the mustang, skip barber or jetta but which is the better ones to race?

Mustang races are more populated than Jetta races, so it's easier to get an official race (or more suitable split) with them. Apparently the skippy is even more popular, although I'm not an open-wheel guy so I've never raced it.

You might want to wait until the next season is announced before you buy your next car. You might be gearing up for a season only to find it's changed completely in a few weeks.

Quote from Kid222 :Hope you will be kind to Mustangs.

I've been driving a Mustang in the Grand Am series and so far I've only had one incident with a Riley. You just have to watch your mirror and be prepared to take less-than-ideal lines in the turns. I can't take ideal lines even when I'm by myself on the track, so I have lots of practice.

Presumably to fix the issue with stats updates. I think I broke the system yesterday by winning a race. The stats weren't built to handle that condition.

Quote from MadCat360 :The most fun thing to do in week 13 is to spectate bottom split Legends races.

lulz will be had.

I saw that mentioned as the favorite activity in the iR forums. I've done a grand total of one oval race so far. Maybe I'll work on my oval license that week and provide some entertainment for the rest of you

I've heard of week 13, but I've never been through one. Is it like the 24 heuers du fun? No SR hits? Is it like (gasp) LFS demo servers?

There's really no reason IMO to buy everything all at once. If you don't plan on doing any oval racing for example, you can leave all that content on the shelves.

It's best to wait until you need content to buy it. There are several tracks and cars I want, but I'm waiting until a series I run in needs them.

Thanks so much for that hint. I've not seen that anywhere else. I assume you have it set to .5?

Is there a way to see the results for a race that you weren't in and none of your friends/studied were in? The only way I've found is to dig through the series standings and study a bunch of people, then search for their results. There must be a better way.

I'm trying to get a feel for the field sizes of the Mustang and Jetta races on Thursday nights (Eastern US time). I'm trying to decide which car to buy and field size is one of the factors.

I've finally bitten the bullet and signed up. I've done a grand total of one TT session at Laguna Seca in the rookie Soltice - 7 laps no incidents! My best was a jaw-dropping 1:55 something. I haven't checked but it's probably 25 seconds off the WR

I know a lot of people here aren't crazy about the feel of the Soltice, but it felt a lot like an XRG to me, which is a good thing in my book. I'll try my first real race sometime later this week.

Quote from zeugnimod :WTF? How is that "strange"?

I agree with you, it's like he wants to introduce some screwball rules change to alter the results. Hey Bernie, how about giving 89314789 points for finishing last? Then the standings wouldn't be the same.

Quote from Bob Smith :
Apparently ARCA SimRacing includes this track too, does anyone know if it's any good?

I really like ARCA Sim Racing, and inded it does have Kentucky Speedway. It feels pretty realistic in my completely uneducated opinion.

It's another sim with a small dev team that puts out content when they feel like it - sound familiar? Apparently the devs work with several NASCAR teams and Hoosier (the ARCA tire supplier) to get as much real world data as possible.

Quote from aoun :Welcome to reality! Enjoy your stay.

QFT

Even in "elite" countries, the best that most of us can aspire to is a boring 9-5 job, driving a 10 year old Camry, and barely paying the mortgage. You have to find happiness in everyday mundane things, or you will be severely disappointed.

A whole new track environment would be very difficult to implement, but random auto-x tracks might be possible. Somebody might be able to whip up a program that creates drivable auto-x track files. I'd like to see it.

I'll see what I can do. Having a kid with you opens up all kinds of photo ops. Last year the VW guys gave my son a shirt and he got to sit in a bunch of race cars, including some that were on the grid at the time.

I'm headed there tomorrow for day 2 of the Grand Am event - Jettas, Mustangs, and ARCA trucks. You iracing guys could almost simulate my whole day tomorrow ARCA trucks are the smaller, 4 cylinder versions of pickup trucks, as opposed to the Camping World full size variants.

Does iracing have rolling starts on road courses? If so, where do they start at Mid Ohio?

In real life they do rolling starts on the back straight. I always sit in the esses, and that's an awesome corner complex to see at the start of a race.
