Very sad news, always remember him to be a classy guy along with everyone else in T7R.

Rest in Peace.

Worth mentioning I was using a Playstation 2 pad, so my advice might be completely useless if you're using a wheel. It's also worth mentioning how many hours I spent driving that one car (seriously, I did thousands of races in the XFR), I can assure you I was terrible with it for a while, and I flipped it more times than I can remember.

The XFR used to be my bread and butter. All of the setups I ran had a loose rear and I would almost back the car into a corner. I never got on with tighter setups, even if they appeared faster I would still go out with my loose setup and grab the WR on Aston Club.

As everyone else has said already, you need to be very delicate with the throttle. The car always felt like it would spin out at any moment when I drove it, so my advice is start loose then bring it back to a level you're comfortable with.

Playing the S2 demo, XFG on Blackwood, having races finish 3 wide, bumper to bumper racing. I was totally hooked, and I always raced in the same server with the same people. Sometimes it was chaos, but you'd often end up with the top 10 all bumper to bumper across the line.

I loved the close racing so much, I hated starting on pole, and that attitude carried on later into the full S2 release. I would prefer public spring races, and I would deliberately join the grid at the back so I could be in the mix.

I raced so much with my crappy Playstation pad, that I've actually got long term problems with my hands because of how I had to hold the pad. I think if LFS had better control options back then I'd have no trouble with my hands.

I recorded a couple of videos, my driving is crap because unlike the other DiRT games you actually need to practice the stages a bit on this one, it's less forgiving. The game is visually fantastic, these videos are all on max settings, just got a bit washed out by youtube.

EDIT: the first paragraph about the game on steam...

"First I want to say thank you, all you guys and girls have been awesome these last few years. You’ve been telling us what you want for what seems like forever, over on the forum there is a next DiRT game wishlist that actually predates the release of DiRT 3. There have been comment threads on gaming websites telling us were we went wrong and hundreds of posts each day on Twitter and Facebook telling us exactly what you want. That’s how awesome you guys are, you’ve been our inspiration and got us through some tough times. So thank you."

DiRT Rally

17 CARS OVER 6 NEW AND CLASSIC CLASSES TO DRIVE NOW: Rally is about having the right car and DiRT Rally will have all of the right cars. At the start of Early Access, DiRT Rally delivers 14 cars and will be adding more cars over more classes in the future.

NEW DRIVING MODEL: The physical simulation for DIRT Rally has been completely rebuilt to adequately capture how it feels to race across changing surfaces, and loose surfaces collect under the wheels during lateral sliding, creating a completely new feel to sliding around corners.

RALLY CHAMPIONSHIPS, RALLY ASYNC & CUSTOM RALLY EVENTS: Take on a single stage and learn the calls in Custom Rally events, compete against increasingly skilled opposition in Rally Seasons or prove yourself against the entire community of players in Rally Async

TEAM MANAGEMENT: Hire up to four engineering staff to work on your vehicle between stages. Drill down and hire them based on their contract length, wage demands, and on the insight they can offer over upgrades to the vehicles you own. Keep renewing an engineer’s contract and you’ll be able to give them perks that will help upgrade specific vehicles faster.

UPGRADES: As you drive a vehicle in events your engineers will become more familiar with it and will research upgrades that will unlock the full potential of the car. DiRT Rally’s comprehensive upgrade system makes meaningful improvements to the car’s handling and performance to stay competitive in the Rally Async challenges.

TUNING: Delivering the most comprehensive tuning system ever in a DiRT game, DiRT Rally enables players to tune their cars based on weather conditions, car condition and more to ensure they can refine their setup and get the car feeling right for their driving style.

DAMAGE & REPAIRS: Off-road racing is tough and unforgiving; competing causes vehicles to suffer wear and tear as replicated by DiRT Rally’s comprehensive mechanical damage system. Thankfully, damage can be repaired by hiring Engineers to work in the team’s Service Area between stages. Much as in the Colin McRae Rally games, there’s a finite amount of time to repair cars between rally stages.

PHYSICS-BASED ASSISTS: Being fast is about skill, not raw speed. Whilst DiRT Rally allows players to experience cars in their purest form it also offers a selection of real world assists similar to those seen in race and road vehicles. Traction Control works to minimise wheel spin, ABS increases your braking ability by preventing the wheels from locking up and Stability Control keeps your car from over rotating in the corners.

I've just downloaded the Early Access on Steam, it's barely Early Access, it's basically a working game with achievements just lacking some of the content. So far I'm enjoying it, it's the sort of game I think people on this forum have been waiting for, the simulation is not RBR level, but it's better than the previous DiRT games.

LOL what button do you press do dive like that?

You jump and press B on a pad, I think it's just the punch button. Only works on single player, you kill anyone sitting down when you land on them.

EDIT: I've made a few races if you guys want to check them out, they are meant to be more realistic street races, no traffic, no weapons.

Quote from sinbad :Well done for replying so politely to such an ignorant comment. Clearly an embittered fool typing nonsense, or perhaps just looking to stir things up.

Agreed about Nico, but I don't think he will ever be at the Hamilton/Ricciardo/Alonso level when it comes to wheel-to-wheel racing.

I think he is hurting because the great Mercedes build their F1 race cars in Brackley, England.

Also probably not the best year to say that given the nationalities of the F1, GP2, GP3, F2 and WEC champions.

I would give Germany way more than 50% chance of winning, they get an 80% chance just because they are the German national team, they don't do losing, even when they play badly. Also this is France we are talking about, they are capable of losing a game when they're the only team playing.

The Liberator is loads of fun, it's almost unstoppable, and you can do some nice flips using half pipes. You can climb buildings using parked cars as ramps too.

Here's some pictures I took today, my new garage is all old style/classic cars, still got two slots available.

Quote from Boris Lozac :Too much hate on Rooney.. he did setup the damn goal perfectly. England played well, you guys should be proud for once.

People forget that Rooney is a striker, he's our attack dog, but he's become tame over the last few seasons, his club keep throwing more money at him and defending him when he doesn't perform. I want to see him played in his natural position, he should be a player we unleash upon the opposition, not one we tie down to a defensive left midfield position, that's the mistake Man Utd have been making with him, and if last season is anything to go by then we shouldn't copy Man Utd tactics.

I am proud of our players, but we still held back, and I think we're better than that, our team is strong and the new talent that has emerged over the last two seasons is good enough to take on the best. I hope that the next two games reflect the tactics and attitude of Liverpool last season, go out all guns blazing and dominate the other team.

Quote from Intrepid :England find a way to lose better. Pundits seem happy, fans happy.

That's why we don't win. There's a lack of confidence and self belief. I am happy with the Liverpool players, you could tell that they had no fear, and gave everything, they've had a whole season of positive coaching and it reflected in their play. Then you look at Rooney, who's had a season of negativity, and he had a bad game, then he's played out of position to compound the problem. Welbeck too, he was fantastic at getting the ball, but he needs the confidence to run at the defence, take them on the same way Sterling was.

I can't remember who said it, but I remember a pundit saying that the reason English players never reach the same level as say Ronaldo or Ibrahimovic is because they're not allowed to believe they're better than they are, they are not allowed to be arrogant. So they don't maximise their talent and potential.

It's honestly not worth it, even for a free beta. I've been playing a lot of Battlefield 3 recently, and that game is so much better. It's not just the small maps and change of focus, it's the way the game feels and plays. It seems that the new engine/netcode/whatever is just bad, on Battlefield 4 and now Hardline.

This is nothing more than a cheap DLC, they've not even bothered to remove some of the high end military gear. It's basically the same game, but smaller, not as good and with new models and names, they've not changed anything meaningful.

Save your money and get Battlefield 3, or Payday 2 if you want a proper heist game.

Quote from J@tko :I hope the refs are slightly better for the actual finals.......

Sterlings tackle wasn't that bad, he only caught him with his trailing foot, which was tucked in, studs down. It was aggressive but fair, the most the ref should have given him was a yellow card for reckless play. Also, given his injury a few years back, the reaction from Valencia was understandable, he reacted in the heat of the moment, a simple talking to and a yellow card would be fine in that situation. But the ref wanted to be center of attention, the way he brandished the cards in a camp over the top fashion showed that.

So like you said, hopefully we get a better standard of referee during the World Cup, although I doubt we actually will.

I'm 27 years old, and I never knew that "Eenie Meenie Minie Mo" had a racist version. I was taught that the rhyme was "catch a Tiger by its toe". So I can see why a posh old dinosaur would repeat the version he's probably heard his whole life, and not immediately come up with a cleaner version.

This is obviously a story leaked by someone that wants to screw over Clarkson, and sell some papers at the same time. The clip wasn't broadcast, and Clarkson corrected his own mistake way before the papers got hold of the clip.

My favourite part of the game so far is repairing my car, because missing body panels and wheels fly back to your car and snap back into place Ironman style. For those of you worried about the development, don't be, it's the game you've wanted since the disappointing TDR, it just needs time to be optimised and for more content to be added.
