Quote from Scawen :Dear Programmers, as you probably know there is a new test patch coming.

2) New collision reporting.

Wow, this, together with the barrier-liftoff-fix makes me want do some Sumo coding again. Now, if we could only get a way to detect when a car is upside down or on the side (angle relative to the track)

Quote from Scawen :Please take a look at this packet specification and have a think about how you would use it, and if it needs any more info

I assume multiple IS_CON packets are guaranteed to be received in correct order? If not, some sort of timestamp would be useful. Actually, when I think about it, that might be useful anyways.

Either way, excellent work. Nice to see our requests are being heard.

Yes, your improvement suggestion is much better and much more important than other improvement suggestions, so this suggestion must be in the General LFS Discussion section instead of the Improvement Suggestions section.

Quote from thisnameistaken :[noobs] - Arseholes every last one of them

Indeed.
Quote from DratsaB :The CRC (Clean Racers Club) was good.

Yeah, CRC was nice to have when you were looking for arseholes and didn't find enough of them in the [noobs] forum.

If you think this is so damn easy, why don't you make your own sumo insim? It's done when it's done.
Beware! Sarcasm inside!

Quote from BoneCrusher :But I DO find it frustrating the devs treath us like we are some low life idiots by not giving some kind of progress report, leaving us in the dark. Sure the devs don't HAVE to do anything, but I'll think they owe that to the community. Because without the community there won't be LFS.

Totally agree. It's quite clear to me that the devs don't have much respect for the community at all. Not just because the lack of progress reports and complete silence, but also because the way both the Scirocco and Rockingham were revealed. Instead of the devs announcing it here first, we had to find out from a 2nd source before they (probably had too) announce it officially (and it was quite obvious we had to find out anyways since these were public events).

Sure, as it's been said a thousand times before, they do whatever they do in whatever way they want, but they couldn't even give us THAT much?

Quote from hp999 :And I love how someone with 18 posts moans about RAC.

So how many posts do you think someone must have before they're allowed to have an opinion on something in here?

I only have 167, but I still think you're an idiot. Hope that's OK with you.

Quote from Jakg :you have to be on the server when you get banned for it to take effect.

You know or assume?
(cause I assume so too, but as we all know, assumption is the mother of all.. blueberry muffins, so that ain't worth much)

Quote from Victor :15 bans within the last 30 days actually.

So in theory I can set up 15 hosts and ban someone I don't like from all of them, and they are globally banned?
Or do they actually have to be on the server for the ban to "count"?

Quote from Scrabby :Fags write Poems.

Some things make you gay, thats just how it is.
Like driving a Miata, or hate seeing tits.
But writing a poem is manly as beer,
Unlike comming from Belgium - that just makes you queer.

Thank you. Thank you. OK. Easy now. Thank you. Yeah, yeah. Thank you.

Your poem was just very lame

so just stay home and... erm.. play your wii.

I'm pretty sure [noobs] will never re-open the sumo server again.

I once had a plan to release the sumo source code to the public. But since that requires an effort, it will probably never happen. Besides I already gave it away to someone, but I can't remember who
PM me if you really really want it and I will probably maybe send it to you if you promise to hold your breath while you wait.

That post made a lot of sense. I love bacon.

Quote from AndroidXP :1) The ideal shiftpoint is the RPM value where changing to the next gear will deliver more torque than the current gear does.

I don't get it. Why all this talk about torque when it comes to shiftpoints? To accelerate as fast as possible you want as much power as possible, not torque? And a powercurve is (more or less) linear, so the optimal shiftpoint is always at the peak of the powercurve. If you shift before this point, there will be power in the powerband you'll never use, and after the shift you will end up at a lower point on the curve than if you shifted later. Whats the point of that?

Enlighten me please.

if playernode > finishnode: distance = finishnode - playernode + maxnode.
if playernode <= finishnode: distance = finishnode - playernode.

Distance is then each players distance to finishnode. Closest = leader.

Quote from lfs-drift staff :have to agree

i drove a pontiac transport (98-01 i dont remember the year)

and in winter it was a pure mess to be assisted with abs

it took me 2 week before i remove them and it was way better

it was taking too much time for the abs to unlock wheel (if you "panic brake" in certain case like : missing a stop or trying to avoid a stupid deer crossing the road)

i personally prefer to dose the brake myself but i never locked the wheel on a clean road

its not the same thing to race or daily drive i know but its comparable

if you know your car enough your not going to need abs ... in a race its better to slow down/brake before the corner

personnally i know when the car is about to slide when i brake or turn
you just have to feel it .. but well you dont feel soo much in lfs but you can see the force made on the car with one of those F's command

You will NEVER be able to drive safer without ABS in real life situations, because the way brake systems and ABS works. For example, you can't distribute brake force between right and left wheel without ABS, a (modern) ABS system do. And in an emergency situation your instincts will tell you to STOP! and you will apply full braking power. Some things just can't be practised.

So people claiming they are safer drivers without ABS either got a defective ABS system or a defective brain. Since you were driving an american car (and yourself being canadian, not american) I'm assuming the former is the case.

At least he took the time to write a specificaction that makes it possible to get an idea of what he wants. Kudos for that!
