Quote from Keling :However, in LFS the FFB is more physics-based. The only thing you can tweak is the total force multiplier. When the multiplier is set, how much force you get at a specific moment during driving completely depends on tyre-road physics and suspension geometry.

That is also true regarding the RealFeel plugin, it takes the steering arm force as calculated by the physics engine, scales it into the required range via a single multiplier (MaxForceAtSteeringRack) and optionally applies smoothing and damping before outputting the scaled value to the FFB device. It's not possible to get much more 'physics based' than that

Quote from MadCat360 :So I should use as low of an in-sim setting as possible? Or a combination of somewhat low driver settings and medium sim settings?

Low in-sim and high driver settings will give the most accurate replication of the forces as calculated by the sim.

If you're interested in why might I suggest that you give these posts a read?

Quote from 1993weeman : We should of won against Wales if our guy decided he could kick it into touch and the game would be over but no let Wales have the ball. Very clever :doh:

It was 24 - 24 at the restart, if Scotland had kicked the ball into touch the game would have ended a draw. By keeping the ball in play they at least gave themselves a chance of winning.

Quote from Becky Rose :For years web developers have dreamed of 3D. Did you know your graphics card isn't even capable of rendering a 2D display any more? It's all done under emulation on a 3D canvas - and yet the internet still does not have a universal way of addressing 3D space!

I used a UK debit card without a problem, albeit one with a Visa logo on it.

Qualifying time doesn't come into it, just iRating and your friends list as far a I'm aware.

A tad more? At over 1000kg? Do I detect a hint of sarcasm?

Quote from Shotglass :techade might correct me on this but from my understanding if real feel doesnt work with a mod its a clear indication that the suspension geometry bears no resemblance to reality and was coded by a group of platypuses with a sum total of 0 days engineering experience

LOL yup, something like that.

Quote from Fetzo :due to the fact that the realfeel-developer helped building this mod definately the best mod ever for rfactor.

Thanks, but I can't possibly take any credit for how well the mod turned out, I gave a little feedback and input early on but really not that much.

Quote from migf1 :About the rfactor tyres, do we have a clue how to check their optimal temp?

Open up the .tbc with your favourite text editor and look for the line:

Temperatures=(101.0, 20.0) // Optimum operating temperature for peak forces (Celsius), starting temperature

Niels, would you mind if I borrowed your thread for a mo?

I'd just like to mention that the latest version of the Caterham mod has at last been released to the public. All cars in this mod are designed with carFactory and will utilise RealFeel to it's fullest.

http://www.rfactorcentral.com/detail.cfm?ID=Caterham

Also in the works are an incredibly accurate (physics wise) CSR260 and an improved SVR8 engined Powertec which should be available soon.

Quote from March Hare :Sparks from the undercarriage were mentioned several times before. So, you contradicting Tristan is a bit stupid.

How does the fact that sparks from the undercarriage being previously mentioned make me contradicting Tristan a bit stupid? I must be being stupid again because I don't see the connection.

If Tristan's remark was purely about cars rubbing together where does which way up the car is come into it?

Anyway, I don't want to continue arguing about it, if you guys think I'm stupid so be it.

Quote from tristancliffe :Have we really sunk to those levels? This is a thread about sparks coming off cars when the rub each other. That is the context. My post was in this thread, and was therefore within context. Quote a sentence of mine, ignoring the thread, and trying to claim you were right is just stupidity personified.

Firstly the original post in this thread is ambiguous and could be interpreted either way.

Secondly there are a number of times further on in the thread where sparks produced in situations other than cars rubbing together are mentioned.

Stupidity personified? No, it was meant to be a light hearted remark made in jest. Sorry you didn't realise that.

Quote from tristancliffe :That's not the bodywork, that is magnesium skid blocks under the floor.

I didn't mention anything about it being bodywork, neither did the sentence of yours that I quoted.

You admit that your sentence as it stands was incorrect and I'll admit that I took the quote slightly out of context

Quote from Luke.S :The plane is going to take off cause the convayer belt wouldn't be able to speed up as quickly as the plane so the plane would.

w8 a sec no it wouldn't take off cause there is no airspeed so no lift.

You're making the mistake of thinking the plane is driven by it's wheels - it's not.

The original post doesn't mention anything about the speed of the wheels, only the speed of the plane.

Quote from Kalev EST :You´re thinking too much like a human and adding information yourself (like the two 13´s are relevant) because otherwise the riddle wouldn´t make sense. If you think like a computer and don´t make any assumptions but rely on cold hard facts (like you should in these riddles) then there is no single answer.

No, it's called lateral thinking.

To quote wikipedia:

Quote :Lateral thinking is about reasoning that is not immediately obvious and about ideas that may not be obtainable by using only traditional step-by-step logic.

Quote from hyntty :In a family there are three boys. The product of their ages is 36. The sum of their ages is the same as the number of the house next door. The eldest one of the boys plays drums.

How old are the boys?

Ok, let me see if I can explain it.

We have 4 pieces of information, each of which is crucial to solving the puzzle.

The first 2 pieces of information tell us that the answer is one of:

1x1x36=36, sum=38
1x2x18=36, sum=21
1x3x12=36, sum=16
1x4x9=36, sum=14
1x6x6=36, sum=13
2x2x9=36, sum=13
2x3x6=36, sum=11
3x3x4=36, sum=10

We know that the number of the house next door (the sum of their ages) is somehow relevant.

We know that the oldest son isn't one of twins.

We know that the fact that the eldest son isn't one of twins can be used to solve the riddle.

If this piece of info can be used to solve the riddle it means that the house number alone isn't enough. This means that the house number is not unique.

There are only 2 possible solutions with a non-unique house number.

Only one of those 2 possible solutions has an eldest son.

Therefore the only possible solution is 2,2,9.

As CobraDrifter says that's impossible to answer without knowing the number of the house nextdoor.

Some possible answers...

2x3x6=36
1x6x6=36 (twins!)
1x3x12=36
1x2x18=36
2x2x9=36
1x4x9=36

Edit: Wow I'm slow!

Quote from migf1 :It could be that this mod was the point of reference in the development of the Real Feel Plugin

Remember that all the RealFeel plugin does is take the SteeringArmForce calculated by the physics engine and transposes it to the FFB system.

The reason for using the Caterham mod to develop the plugin was that at the time the Powertec and Hayabusa Caterhams were the only cars available for rFactor that had been developed using carFactory and hence had suspension with no glaring flaws.

In the current release of the Caterham mod it's still only the Powertec and Hayabusa that have carFactory suspension and tyres with any pneumatic trail. For the upcoming release they've all had the carFactory treatment though
