Exiting the chicane at the end of lap 15 I fancied a cigarette, while looking for my lighter I knocked my tower and my dodgy internet lead came loose - Game over.

Judging by the times on LFSW it looked like another great race for the front few, any chance of the replay?

When the second half of the season started, signups were closed. But given the poor turnouts recently, perhaps it would be best to reopen them...?

I can't say I'm a fan of this track, but it went better than expected despite having my first race with ballast and a hangover.
I had a poor start - from 9th - I was pretty slow reacting when the lights went green, allowing Dadge to pull up along side me and pass at T1. However, I took that position back and gained another after Dadge and Kamo had a small coming together at T1 a lap later.

I decided to go for a pit early on rather than get into a fight with the pack ahead or behind me. I came out in last, 14 seconds behind Jokelainen. Shortly after Kamo pitted and came out a worrying 4 seconds behind me.
He eventually caught up on lap 23 after I got the chicane slightly wrong whilst trying to follow Jokelainen through it and he passed at the following corner.
After several failed passes from half-arsed attempts, I eventually passed Jokelainen on lap 28.
From there I was just waiting for others ahead of me to pit and climb up. Only Darra came out of the pits close to me, but towards the end of the race we were both lapping fairly quick and consistently, so the gap stayed 3-4 seconds for most of it.
I nearly stole 3rd place from Kamo after he ran out of fuel just after the last turn, unfortunately he coasted over the line just 3 seconds ahead of me.

Looking forward to AS3 next week, but not with an even higher ballast...

Quote from dadge :welcome to the world of ballast cropsy

There's a good chance I'll miss out on the fun of ballast next week. It's a mates birthday and we're planning on going out of town for it, we will be back on Sunday, but no idea what time.

Quote from Starwalker :Ok, there must be a mistake somewhere.. How can i still be in first?!?!

It's right, Dadge retired, gAg was a no-show and Franky finished 3 places too low to take the lead.

Yet another lonely race for me.
Other than a few scraps with Barrichello and Siirto early on, it was rather quiet. I had a fairly smooth run, but couldn't get into a good rhythm and my lap times were very inconsistent.
The only big mistake I made was forgetting to sort out my pitstop settings, which saw me drop from 3rd to 5th due to an unintentional tire change. (Un)Fortunately I got 4th back when Siirto rolled his car exiting the 2nd chicane on the 58th lap. And I might even get 3rd place as Pingo thinks he might have cut the pitlane entrance (I watched the replay, but can't tell if it's a penalty - Have fun deciding that, Dean!).

I have not been practicing, but then again who really needs to practice Blackwood? (in either direction!)

Me! It's been a long, long time since I've driven BL1r. And I never really got the hang of it.

Went better than expected, but the entertainment wasn't much better than Westhill...

Managed to qualify in 4th place, just 2 tenths behind 2nd and 3rd.

On the 2nd lap I tried following Siirto through the last turn and caught the left curb badly, this knocked me up onto 2 wheels into the wall on the exit. The crash took a big chunk out of my bodywork and left my suspension in a bad way. Despite the horrible over steer and shaky steering under braking, it was still drivable if not a little scary, particularly entering T1. From here on out I was lapping slow, very cautiously and avoiding curbs as if I was in an MRT . Great start!
Fortunately this only cost me one position to Barrichello. And his fight with Siirto and Rauti kept them in view, and the big cluster of cars behind jostling for position helped me increase that gap.
On Lap 5 Sirrto ploughed through the barriers at T1, giving me back 4th position. And, eventually on Lap 13 Rauti made a mistake damaging his suspension too, and went on to make it worse as he refused to back off. After several slips off the grey stuff and a few complaints about under steer and his "fkn shite set" I managed to pass him at T2 on lap 23. A couple of laps later he had a big spill at T1 which cleared my mirrors for a wee while.

Barrichello pitted on Lap 37 with an 8 second gap between us. I decided then my pit stop strategy would be the opposite of his, if he was in and out I would play it safe and change tires and repair my mess of a car. But he had a fairly long stop... Race on!
I pitted on Lap 43 (entering extremely cautiously) and pulled out just ahead of Barrichello. For the rest of the race he was in my mirrors. Unfortunately the opportunity for a pass rarely came. His best chance was at T1, which just isn't possible without making contact.
The last few laps were terrifying, I was just waiting for my rear right tire to blow. The temperature had dropped right down, and it was giving off the ominous 'hollow' screech on right turns. If Barrichello had gotten close to passing I was prepared to let him slip pass so I could coast home with all 4 tyres in shape. But neither came and I managed to hold onto 2nd place.

The race was more bearable than Westhill, but only slightly. It's sad to see so many people dropping out yet again.

I forgot to sign-up, and too late now..? Oh well, can't say I'm a fan of this track anyway.
