I just practice offline for improving my cornering and lap times.
I do my passing practice online live players is more fun.
If you want to practice passing cars try starting from the back of the start line.
I start dead last every race and usually finish in the top 5 depending on how many fast drivers are in the race.
If you hang back at start most of the bad drivers will crash at the first corner or by the 2nd corner then work on catching the others you wont catch the 1:12 drivers like that unless they crash but it's good practice.
To get dead last start position nearly everytime spectate on race restart countdown wait till race is restarting screen appears then Shift +p then join real quick. won't work if race is full.
If your super fast try to get a front position and follow the fastest cars in the race.
If you get behind that slow guy who's blocking or trying to run you off the road then i usually ride on there bumper and give them a speed boost into a wall or something

I'll look into the other options mentioned I did get the first one working.
All I wanted was to have different speeds of cars on the track so there not all just in one single file line bumper to bumper.

Problem setting up a slow Ai car
Seen different threads about changing gearing on a set to use to make a slower AI car so that I can practice in single player with different AI cars.
I must be doing something wrong cause the AI ignores my settings and goes as fast as possible.
Here's what I tried sofar.
1. Hit single player on Pro level
2. Enter garage to select my slow car with a max speed of 103mph then ok.
3. Click where it says Add AI it adds a car.
4. Now if I start race and spectate or race against it with a different car the AI car is going upto 133mph on the straight?
5. I test drove the AI car before hand and it's max speed was 103mph so I'm lost at how to change the AI car settings cause when I click back on garage it just shows the current car I'm driving.

Question about starting positions
This may sound funny But I wanna know if there's any way to be placed at the back of the pack of racers on the starting line for each new race? Or is it just random? Most races I see everyone piles up on the first corner so I try to hang back and let others pass me off the start line then after the corner I floor it to catch up. Alot of times i get placed first in the startup line and If I go for the first corner fast I brake to avoid rearending someone then someone hits me from behind or the side. I like starting from the back of the pack so i have plenty of room to brake and dodge crashers so it would be nice if there was a button to push to place you last.
