Not sure if this is the appropriate thread to request, but back in the day, S1 had a particle effect which would simulate a dust cloud being kicked up just before you went through the tunnel on blackwood. That was subsequently removed. Any chance we can get it back?
Scawen, great work. I haven't played in years but I check back now and then to see progress. I'd like to get back into it when the physics gets updated. How are you getting along with that and the tyre model?
Would you also mind breaking down your project plan? I.e. what's next after fern bay, and everything in between the official release (I take it it's still in beta?)?

Scawen, I applaud all three of you for your dedication to LFS. I haven't played for many years now, but I occasionally come back to check on progress. And progressed it has. Can't believe it's been 14 years since I first downloaded it. I can't wait to see what S3 brings. May it continue to prosper. And perhaps one of these days i'll get back into it...
On a side note, I remember in S1 as you went down the straight on Blackwood, there was a small cloud of dust that got kicked up behind the car just before the bridge. I always thought that was a nice touch and wondered why it got omitted in later versions?

for some reason i just thought id check up on lfs today to see if there were any developments. sadly, no. so then i came on here and saw this thread. god its been a long time since i last played. sounds like a LOT has changed.

slipping the clutch puts load on the engine which makes the turbo spool up. if there is no load then the turbo wont spool which is why you dont get boost when you rev it in neutral.

happy birthday matefinally got round to buying s2 the other day 
well ive been playing on the big servers with 20+ people races with gtr cars. seen that aura geezer yesterday. seemed alright when he was in front of me; but what a derkhead! as soon as i get past him the c*nt rams me off the track! everytime he kept doing this - i just had to stay ahead of him. never saw the other guy though.
i think devs should take a look at this and ban them from lfs for life.

but arent they only 600cc? i heard they had turbos though? my mates cinquecento is 900cc and it has like 35 horses or sumthin like that, but the way he drives it makes it feel like a 1.2 hehe.
anyways. i meant a NEW car. woo if toyota brought back the AE86 somehow or even sorted out the mr2, then maybe something could happen...

but good luck buying a cheap rwd car these days that hasnt been to the moon and back.
if only honda or toyota made a nice 1.6-2 litre rwd car again that cost £15k tops.

---variable valve timing and electronic lift control---
basically, the camshaft has 2 sets of lobes. one is standard and the other one is aggressive. when driving normally (town driving perhaps), the aggressive camshaft does not come into play, when the engine gets up to a certain rpm (5500 rpm for instance), the little computer thingamajig tells the vtec solenoid to engage, which forces a little pin to lock the 2 sets of lobes together using hydraulic pressure. due to the aggressive lobes having a higher profile, it overrides the less aggressive lobes, which therefore gives it a greater lift and duration and lets in more air and fuel.
in effect, you have 2 camshafts in one, which is good for economy and also sports if you may.
for example, you have a 1.6 litre VTEC engine. it puts out around 160 bhp.
this is means you have more power than most 2 litre engines whilst keeping the economy of a 1.6 when VTEC is not engaged.
*may sound a bit baffling but makes perfect sense while im typing*

why hasnt anything about VTEC or a similar system been posted here before?
would be pretty cool to have at least one of the cars in the game with something like that wouldnt it?
i mean, the sound and the realism would be cool, but then you could argue; why not just put in longer duration cams in the first place to make more power throughout the range rather than after 5500?
would be nice for honda fans though...

i remember in S1 there used to be a bit of dust on the track just before the bridge on the straight (where the track dips) on blackwood.
if you watched the replay from the tv camera view or whatever you want to call it, you could see the dust/dirt flying around behind the car as it went over it.

i usually brake hard at the last moment and then trailbrake while engine braking to minimise locking the rear wheels (with auto blip on).
this works a treat and i can outbrake quite a few people = faster times...

any car, be it big, small, saloon, hatch, fwd, rwd, 4wd, etc...
it doesnt matter what car it is, just implement this engine!
of course, it has to be kept as a NA engine, but tuned so it revs to 11k.

everytime i got to change my track to fern bay, i get a litle messej come up that sez:
"LFS.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."
one of those litle microsoft error report thingies.
can anyone explain y this is happening (other than corrupted files which is obvious) an how i can get it to werk without reinstalling game and all my credits an stuff an setups disappearing?
all help appreciated. thanks.
