Input box in setups

The title probably doesn't portray the suggestion exactly as I wish, but it would be cool to be able to type in the value that you want.

At the moment, a value changes when the slider is moved. My suggestion is that by clicking the value, a 'typing' cursor appears to allow you to type in the desired value.

I think that this would help me, and probably a few of the others who like to build setups, because I sometimes find it hard to get the exact value I am looking for, particularly when using my laptop mouse pad.

Cheers

Another skin based around the Omitec one I made earlier, only with a design that others may actually want

It has all been loaded onto LFSW so please feel free to download.

Quote from batteryy :google fot master skinnerz, then pick skin kits/prokits

I don't understand, why am I googling master skinnerz kits? I've already finished them. I know they don't look as pretty but they work ok in the game

Hi, my name is Mark and I have recently bought the G25 and I have had similar problems to yourself.

Sometimes when I go to work, I start LFS at lunchtime and watch a few replays (in the vain hope of improving). When I get back home, the wheel doesn't seem to calibrate properly and full lock is about 30 degrees.

Make sure that you rotate the wheel from lock to lock with LFS open. This can sort out the axes calibration quite effectively.

The G25 settings attached also show that you must set the degrees of rotation to 900 degrees. This was set to 360 by default on mine and changing it will obviously make a massive difference.

In the game, you can also set the degrees of rotation for the steering wheel, whilst you are in the pits/garage. Make sure that this is set to 900 degrees too as it helps the game recognise that your steering wheel can turn further than the car in game.

I hope that this all helps. These are all of the settings that I had to change to make the wheel work, but it works fantastically now. Enjoy mate!! Hopefully we will get to race against each other soon

This is another of my familiar skins!! Skin files included, although you will have to change the name on the side. Please don't change anything else though - it would be nice just to see some of my designs running around the track unadultered

Quote from EQ Worry :BIG SORRY to everyone for this highly off-topic discussion. I just stumbled across a complaint concerning my tool and I wanted to learn a bit more about the cause and possible solutions.

No need to apologise - I actually found this to be the most interesting part of this thread, even if it was completely off topic!! It is quite refreshing to see the developer to consumer relationship in all its glory

I cheated on this one and managed to make two skins for the price of one!!

This skinning addiction is starting to do my head in now. This was the result of one fairly well spent morning. I have also attached the skin files in case anyone wants them although the name will need to be changed. I used the warp function in photoshop to make sure that the name followed the line of the rear quarter panels.

Quote from logitekg25 :nice! do you mean the XFG or the fz5?

It was the FZR actually, although even my change to the Limited Slip Diff still left it as a bit of a handful!

It is awesome though. I know I will probably never be the fastest because I am using the clutch and shifter on the Logitech G25 and I think it is too much for my meagre brain to handle!!

I am also struggling to get the setup right but I am making small changes every so often to try and increase rear end grip.

How can this game be so damn addictive?!?!

Quote from carey :I'm glad to here it , although I'm usually more flowing and therefore quicker after a drinky poo (but there's a fine balance to be struck).

It's funny you should say that actually, because Jeremy Clarkson commentates on this in his book and I agree with him. I am fairly consistent when it comes to my lap times, but a small drink vastly changes my ability to do this!

It just goes to show how a drink can affect your driving and is one of the reasons that I won't even have a shandy if it is my turn to drive!

Anyways, back to the topic in hand :P

Quote from logitekg25 :and if it stalls, you need to shut the key off, and turn it back on, so it is two presses

This is true actually. Also, make sure that you put the shifter back into neutral or push the clutch in while you restart. It sounds dumb, but my dad made this mistake (albeit when he was p*ssed) and then wondered why the car wouldn't start.

Just for reference, that previous analogy happened on Live for Speed and not out on public roads

Close enough :P

I tried that car yesterday and started about 11th out of 22 cars. I made some steady improvement though and even managed to scrape a 4th place finish. I think it was the Aston course?! Not too sure though.

Let's just read this article and lay this thread to rest eh? The forum isn't really the place to air one's grievances about a competitor. Just put it behind you and get on with the racing.

Sometimes things happen in the heat of the moment that we regret later. The sooner we learn from this and realise the pitfalls, the sooner we can continue to improve.

Certainly for the more powerful cars, it may be advantageous to change from the Clutch Pack LSD to a Viscous LSD. It certainly helped while I was trying to get used to the FZT (is that what it is called?!) although I am still far from perfect.

Practice makes perfect though, and living by that mantra I need a lot lot more!!
That's racing!

I think this is just about "on-topic" but the link may be a little tenuous.

I fully understand that it is annoying to be fighting for position and then get punted off into the gravel, but I feel that the atmosphere in some races is spoiled by the angry messages that are sent by the aggrieved.

I will freely admit that sometimes I get annoyed after being punted into the gravel, and also admit that I am sometimes in the situation of the accused whereby I cannot avoid causing someone elses unfortunate demise.

However, it would be nice if some people could just take a step back, put things into perspective and think something along the lines of:

"Oh well, let's just focus on race 2 instead".

It is irritating, but by no means the end of the world. I have also found that as long as you stick with it you can normally pull a podium finish out of the bag simply by putting the T1 experience behind you and putting in some consistent (but not necessarily blisteringly fast) laptimes.

So "a sincere apology" to anyone that I may have been involved in an accident with, and "no hard feelings" to anyone that in turn may have removed me from the race.

Had to change the Bean part of the name because there was already a file online called Bean. Here is the new one, which I have just uploaded to LFS World.

Enjoy, and don't forget to check out the padlock on the driver's door

Quote from xlilsoldi3rx :Thanx for the advice i ran 1.41 today still short by 6 seconds.

Could anyone tell me why sometimes when i crash the car just stops working?.

A read circle light is on the car.

Well you may well have stalled the car. I occasionally stall, but I have the G25 with clutch. Are you using a clutch? If so, this may be the case. Try finding out what the button for Ignition is, and just hit it next time you see the RLOD (Red Light of Death)

Good luck. Say hello if you see me in my UFR online anytime soon
