Took my R32 Skyline out drifting again yesterday, car still gets a little hot but other then that it had no other issues, fixed a bunch of steering issues and leaks from the last time, felt like I improved heaps and really got the feint entries down and didn't rely on the handbrake as much, flicking into the tighter corners with only the foot brake feels so much better, have to go through like 2 hours of footage and sync it with audio but for now here are some videos from the side of the track.

First run of the day.

When will we see a drift section in lfs?

LFS already has a bunch of tracks and layouts (and the Westhill update added more) that are great for drift plus the autocross.

I went drifting for the first time in almost 3 years on the weekend in my Skyline, had a few small issues and it was 40+ degrees celsius and I couldn't do full laps as the car really didn't like the heat but still great fun, wasn't able to get much in car footage but linked a few pics and a video from the side of the track below.

I should be going drifting again next month so I'll have some decent footage of that, just hope it's not as hot :P

I learnt how to drift in LFS and it has helped me a lot, of course there are things no sim can recreate but LFS is closest you'll get to real life drifting, it's a great way to practice a lot of different techniques and even tandem drifts, I found doing it in LFS helped me a lot when I did it irl.

Here are some of my real life drifting videos www.youtube.com/equoowe I haven't drifted in awhile but I'm doing a track day in 2 weeks so I'll have some new videos soon.

Quote from Nadeo4441 :I feel like the E92 drift stage is ruined by those gear ratios. 3rd is pretty much unusable and 2nd is way too short.

Both the E92 drift and E30 drift need different gear ratios, would love to be able to change more of the setup on both cars.

Warlab server has people on it pretty much all the time, few other servers that will have 5+ people on it but depends when you play.

I still rate LFS higher then Assetto Corsa for drifting, a better drift car would probably change that tho, the BMW E30 Drift is no XRT :P

As someone that drift irl I find points system in every game to be stupid, I'm yet to see anything that really rewards good drifting.

The e30 on the new drift track feels so good, just need to work out a way to get my joystick working as the handbrake, pushing a button on my g27 shifter feels so wrong.

Quote from MadCat360 :Green Man Gaming has better deals on newer games. You basically cannot buy a game for full price there, even with pre-orders. GMG just isn't as in-your-face about it with events etc.

you can buy steam codes cheaper then GMG prices most of the time, I buy most of my steam games from ozgameshop, its pretty much not worth buying off steam unless its a big sale.

Quote from tristancliffe :
And racing drivers (that aren't or haven't been sim maniacs) are even worse. Never EVER trust a racing game with a positive soundbite from a famous driver. Particularly if they're American.

but he said he uses Forza to practice, it must be realistic!

I don't know what is worse, the pro driver that is paid to say something good, the 12 year old who has never driven a car trying to tell you what is realistic or the people who quote the pro driver lol

Forza vs GT5 with a wheel GT5 feels much better, opposite with a controller imo, they both are still horrible with a wheel compared to PC sims.

I've been messing around with it over the last few days, mainly drifting and it finally feels like something can beat LFS for drifting, can't wait to get my hands on a FR car, something a bit better suited for drifting.

good to see people are already working on mods, downloaded a few sound mods and using some of the apps people have made, might try to make some of my own soon

Quote from HonzaNB :Is it possible to look left and right from cockpit? I didnt find how to set it or make it work.

not in the tech demo atm

Quote from dawesdust_12 :Unfortunately for your sake, I do have a pretty strong and valid argument against mods that break compatibility. It's not my fault that you guys just don't get it. The best part of LFS is that everyone has the same game. No hunting for specific cars (at possibly outdated versions). That's what makes rfactor a nightmare for online driving.

That's why I'm incredulous as to why drifters are so feeble to continue to advocate incompatible mods. It breaks LFS's greatest strength over its competition. A 30 second from launch to server to track experience.

so I guess you don't like tweaks either? because they effect online compatibility.

I can and so many others can use mods and never have issues with compatibility, if I want to use a mod I either use it offline or on a server that allows it, real hard?

This mod in no way will effect you or others who don't want to use it, if you want to use it take 30 seconds extra to find a server that runs the mod and you'll never have a issue with compatibility.

Your argument is horrible imo, you just seem to be looking for any reason to hate on it, hate on drifters and what do you gain from it? does it make you feel better about yourself?

Quote from Matrixi :Gotta agree with TVE and masternick. I'm a drifter and don't really find this mod that exciting as it's just a flat autocross track, but if anything, it shows how absolutely desperate we are for fresh content at this point.

If the track layout is bad nothing will help it lol

Quote from dawesdust_12 :Maybe it's a good indication of intellect (or lack thereof in this case) that the same people who think sliding around a corner is a good idea are also the same people that think a layout made out of a modded car is cool/good.

I'll quote myself from another thread.

Quote from masternick :and people call drifters childish.......

calling drifters stupid because you have no real argument and no real reason to be hating on a mod other then you don't like it and seem to think you are better then others just because they choose a different type of motorsport then you and choose to mod a game they love.

Quote from dawesdust_12 :No. A stupid idea like a ****ed up BF1 is not something that should have the LFS forums standards against incompatible mods be breached.

getting mad over nothing, if you don't like this mod no one is forcing you to use it and no one is forcing anybody else to use it.

Quote from dawesdust_12 :This kind of shit is not good for LFS.

lol please explain how modders trying to breath life into a dieing game is bad for it?

not sure if I have posted my R32 GTST on here, I don't think i have

bought it at the end of last year pretty much stock, came with cat back exhaust, hks front coilovers, type M front bar and type M brakes, GTR seats.

got myself some R33 GTR rims and new tyre's, replaced front HKS coilovers and stock rear with cusco coilovers, put GTR front mount intercooler from 180sx on it, boost and water temp gauge and a few other minor things.

still got front castor arms, extra lock spacers, hicas lock bar and maybe a R33 GTST turbo I have sitting around to put on.

http://sphotos-f.ak.fbcdn.net/ ... 61919051_2090474798_o.jpg

parting out my 180sx, as I sell that I'll be buying a few other basic things to get it drift ready like a bucket seat, computer + tune, more tyre's :P and probably a better turbo, something like a HKS 2530, enough to make 200-220kw and not be real laggy.

Quote from HarryGillman :So thats a no then?

thank you for confirming that you are 12 years old

this thread should be renamed "why do you guys hate stupid people so much?" as that sums it up a lot better, there are stupid racers like HarryGillman that race on drift servers (then act like they are the best driver ever lol) and others that drift on racer servers, the thing that they have in common is nobody likes them

if you don't like racing don't do it, if you don't like drifting don't do it, find the appropriate server and you'll have no issue doing what you enjoy
