Quote from Scawen :....But the unmovable barriers were famously troublesome, often throwing your car several metres in the air if you touched a red and white barrier. Looking into this, I found that I was able to improve these collisions a lot without any major changes.

Oooooh my god...is this for real?...this will make life sooo much better!!

Two big thumbs up of this realy improves

Thanks Scawen!!
Using LFS Remote with a Proxy

Hello people,

I've read two (very old) posts about LFS Remote which I didn't want to reopen so I'll post my question in a new post, since the older post didn't get into Proxy problems.

I'm currently spending a lot of time at work where a Proxy server is used that basicly blocks any trafic that is not going through the port number 80. If I try to connect to LFS Remote (By lfsworld or dedicated windows .exe) I get the following message:

nSim Relay connection failed: [SecurityErrorEvent type="securityError" bubbles=false cancelable=false eventPhase=2 text="Error #2048"] - Error #2048

I've also read the following in a post by Victor: "You need to run a special policy server on port 843"

So, is there a way or should I just stop trying?

Thanks in advance for any help!

How stupid of me for not thinking of that. I just did the test with the FXR (the car that gave me problems) on Kyoto Ring Oval (easy for testing).

I did one fast lap, then 5 laps in 3ed gear continuosly in the rev limiter, followed by another fast lap. The top spead was exactly the same. No engine damage what so ever.

When you do the test you clearly see the rev limiter stops de needle exactly at the redline. You just know the car isn't suffering.

Just for fun I did one extreme downshift...mmm...I lost about 20km/h max speed

Thanks...I'm convinced.
Exactly what causes engine damage?

Hello LFS community!

This post might sound a little repetitive but I still would like to read your thoughts about this because I've had contradicting answers about this from people with a lot of LFS experience.

It's perfectly clear to me that over-reving the enging while downshifting causes engine damage. No problem here.

But there are people who say that hitting the rev limiter while accelerating also causes engine damage while others say that if you hit the rev limiter simply by accelerating you could drive around all day with no problem.

I'm sure you guys have the absolute truth

Thanks for the welcome guys!!

I'm currently sticking to the XFR on whichever server they let me use it It's not a car that's used a lot. Most stick to FXR, XRR or FZR. That will be my next step.

Still, most public servers are to high level for me. For example I don't want to enter in cualifying sessions. I could seriously mess up someone's time.
But I found some nice servers though. Doing a lot of Kyoto National.

Quote from VoiD :It seems to me that you take it serious...

There´s no need to fear racing on CTRA, just use common sense, don´t act like a moron and everything will be fine...

Here´s another good read for you:

How To: T1

How To: Defending

Quit seriously, yes. I'm very competitive and respect other peoples competitiveness. I don't want to bother anybody while being a newbe.

Thanks for the reads, those are new to me!

Quote from VoiD :Welcome to the show!

- Read this,
- read the stickies in the beginners forum,
- read this,
- then get some proper setups here or here.

Personally I would start to race on CTRA, Absolute Beginners or Conedodgers...

These 4 things are done already. Did those while still in Demo

CTRA servers still scare me a bit But i've done some driving on Absolute Beginners and I din't make a fool out of myself. I gues I'll stick to them and I will try to just have fun with the track and car I feel like using.

Watch out...here I come!!
I've got my S2 Licence...yahoo!! :)

Hi all!!

I just bought myself a S2 License the other day. I decided I'll probably stick to this game for much longer. Very excited!

Now I'm just a little overwelmed with the new posibilities. A lot of new cars and a lot of new tracks. I don't know if I should stick to the two cars I know (XFG and FBM) and try new track, stick with Blackwood and change cars, or mix it all up

What do you recomend is best to make good progress and what's the most usefull for online racing??

Cheers!

Quote from M.vdBroek :Very true! We are still looking for beginners!

Looks good. I'm gonna sign up!!

In general, I think even in some demo servers the racing is relatively clean. I've seen people being kicked for misbehaving, even on demo servers.

Quote from Tim NL :Hi Eneko,

You can use LFSLapper to disable specific driver aids like Brake help on your server's.

Quote from M.vdBroek :Please use english as it has been said before, this is an english forum

Yes that is possible, look at the CTRA servers, but my experience with kb was that almost no server really uses them. Except for the CTRA offcourse so just avoid them for now till you get a wheel.

Inderdaad alles maar beter in het Engels houden

Don't worry, CTRA is out of bounds for me at the moment. That's too high level.

Quote from Inouva : LFS has Aid´s?

Well TBH , is a sim game , better turn all the aid´s to off and get use to that , practice and you will be better

I will do this if I have a wheel. I'm still practicing with KB and it's hard to control the braking.
Is it possible to limit driving aids on multiplayer servers?

Hello everybody!

My question is: Is it possible that servers can disable specific driver aids, like Brake Help? And if so, is there a way for me to see what is allowed on the server and what not, before actualy entering the race? I've done searches and read the manuals but haven't found much about the topic. I've seen it has been requested but I don't know if it's actualy possible at the moment.

Thanks!!

Quote from Mille Sabords :...However the feeling / immersion can not be compared, even if I am now back to newbie pace I will not get back to mousing....

I've tried a G25 and there is no doubt about that!! However I've no good place to put a wheel in my place, so I'll trie with the mouse first, untill I'm seriously addicted and need to change to wheel

Thanks for the help!!

Tip: I separated the throttle and brake from the mouse and back on kb, that makes steering more stable.
...

Hey Mille. I'm only playing for a few days now and already I'm thinking about changing from keys to mouse control. Having the throttle and brake on the mouse doesn't seem logical to me and I want them on the kb, like you recommend. However, do you have your gearchanges on the mouse buttons instead or also on the kb?

Hello everybody. I'm going to use this post for what it's for...to present myself.

I'm Eneko, a Dutch guy living in Spain and a friend of mine convinced me to start playing. I've been practicing for about three days now with the demo version and I totally suck!! This is some hard stuff!!

I'm currently playing with the keyboard and I'm hoping that buying me a wheel will make it a little easier. It will definitely make it more fun.

I totally love the community buy the way! People from everywhere. Very cool!
