I agree with everything you said. The only clean racing left in LFS is either league racing, or a private server with people that you know can drive clean and close. This will always be an issue in any racing sim created that DOES NOT have a CENTRAL governing system with a set of acceptable racing standards for all to abide by. Unfortunately the only sim (that I know of) that has this sort of system is Iracing. The closest LFS ever came to it was CTRA, which was one hell of a valiant effort that at the very worst could be considered a very, very successful failure.

Now, I know immediately what all of you are going to say....."Its too expensive, and I don't like having to use my real name.".

Well, you have to look at the reality of the situation, folks. The type of air-tight management that is required to run a system such as Iracing requires a HUGE amount of man-power if you're doing it right. If you're doing it right, there are so many drivers who take interest that the demand becomes higher and higher, requiring more management and subsequently more man-power. People's good graces only go so far and you can only require so much of people before they want to be compensated for their time (and rightfully so. Ring any bells?). Add all that to the fact that none of these developers are pouring their lives into these sims just for the fun of it, and you are looking at some very tight financial quarters.

So before you make the "Its too expensive" or "I dont like using my real name" argument, take a look at the alternatives. If there is an alternative that is "cheaper" than iracing, as closely and well managed as iracing, but provides the same grid sizes, the same server availability, and the same level of customization as LFS/iracing, then go drive there and please PM me with a download link.

I understand people's frustrations as I am in the same boat, I hate the lack of a central system in LFS, but at the same time I simply cannot afford to PAY for that system should they have it in place. So, this takes me back to my original point. If you want good clean sim racing you have 3 options.
1)Any sim on the market, given you run in leagues and/or private servers with your friends.
2)Sell your car and buy an iracing account
3)Sell your car and your house, and go do the real deal at your local race track.

One thing is for certain. We can never and will never "fix" the problem of terrible driving in LFS. It is always going to be with us, especially when there are so many clean drivers who can afford leaving LFS for iracing. The best we can do is to keep our eyes open for the great drivers that are still around, write down their usernames/times when they are online the most, and once we have a nice healthy list, start inviting these drivers to private servers/events. I know that this is time consuming, but its GOT to be better than beating the same damned dead horse that we have been beating for years.......

Quote from Drift King CZ :Michal. No replay?

And about the black flag... Blixt deserved what he deserved after zillion of warnings which actually mean nothing in the race, especially when you start from 0 warnings in every new race. I was about to try clean racing, but after he striked again, I used his "technique" against him .

Also, when you restart one heat 5 times because of start failure of a few drivers or smth, you could do the same in a heat where you drive and someone join the track too late or fails on start .

And the last thing. Put the famous Swedish Folkrace in the official rules thread please.

Did you fail to read the updated rules? If you read them I think you will find that all of your concerns here were directly addressed and taken care of days before you posted this. Hope to see you in round 3.

Hello racers!
I am (AW)88Amped for those of you who do not know. You may know me better as Commentator.1 in the 2010 AA Rallycross cup. I have to start by saying that I agreed to help in this event because I think it is a very unique and fair format. But no matter the quality of planning and organizing of any event, it is only as good as the quality and behavior of the participants. That being said, if you look at my post-race summary of Round 1, you will see that it was PHENOMENAL! The races were close, everyone had a great time, and we were all left looking forward to the next round. There were crashes, there were penalties, and there was even some unfair driving, but over all it was an excellent event, one of the best I have ever attended. Then came round 2.....and I dont think many of you would disagree that some of the behavior by some of the participants was absolutely sickening. After reviewing the replays, I counted at least 15 times where people had to be told to STOP TALKING DURING THE RACES!!! Not only is any chat distracting and unfair to drivers on the track, but the CONTENT of this chat was DISGUSTING! Some of you must have completely forgotten that this event was being streamed live, and you made complete idiots of yourselves! When you participate in an event like this, you are a GUEST in someone else's server, and should act that way. What we saw yesterday was complete disrespect.

Aside from the disrespectful chat, there were some racers arguing the rules. The solution here is simple....read the rules before signing up. If you don't like the rules, don't sign up, and go race somewhere else. Very simple, folks. Now, granted, there were some mistakes made by Gelin as far as the scoring/organization goes, but as usual he was able to correct these things, but not before being verbally raped by some of the people in the server. Do you have ANY idea how many things this guy is doing at once ON TOP of racing in the event at the same time? Again, he was shown COMPLETE disrespect, and that's not right any way you look at it, I don't care what your excuse is.

So, Gelin and I talked for a while after the race and here is what we decided.....but keep in mind this is still in the making so a few things may change before round 3.....

It is my belief that Gelin is taking on too much at once. On top of having to correct his own human error(s) in the middle of everything, he is also having to assign penalties, try to keep SOME level of order in chat, and deal with people acting like children. This will be no more. I will be taking over the judging of every race in terms of Crashing/Unfair Driving as well as chatting during the race, and abusive chat otherwise. Gelin will simply be scoring, organizing, and setting grids.
My policy of judging/assigning penalties will be VERY simple, so there should be NO confusion:

-Chatting under race conditions: This will not be tolerated AT ANY POINT BY ANY PARTICIPANT FOR ANY REASON. If you decide that something is important enough to say during a race, go ahead, but it will cost you one position per comment. If you are at the bottom of your grid already, then you will be officially eliminated and the next quickest driver will take your spot.
-Abusive/Disrespectful chat: This will result in ONE warning. If that warning is ignored, you will be immediately removed from the server. We understand that mistakes will be made by the organizer from time to time. In this case, PLEASE bring it to our attention, but do it AFTER the race and in a respectful manner and everything will be solved in an organized fashion!
-Dangerous Driving/Dive Bombing: We saw a lot of this in Round2. This was partly due to the track at hand, but mostly (in my opinion) due to Gelin trying his best to give warnings instead of penalizing drivers. From now on, it will be very simple. If you are seen being OBVIOUSLY overly aggressive, you will give up one position, AS WELL AS any position(s) gained by your aggressive driving. This means if you dive-bomb a corner, and damage 3 cars, your finishing position will be no better than the LAST of the 3 cars that you damaged. It is in your best interest to avoid contact as much as possible. There will be NO exceptions to this for any driver under any scenario. The only time warnings will be given will be when it is hard to tell if overly-aggressive driving was the reason for contact!! If this happens 3 times, the 3rd warning will be treated just like an aggressive driving penalty. Warnings will not carry over to the next race.

These rules will be enforced very strictly. I will try my best to be as fair as possible to all drivers at all times. However, I am sure that I will make a mistake or two. If this is the case, it is to be handled AFTER the race in the form of a protest. Any arguing/whining about judge's decisions during the event will be considered Abusive/Disrespectful chat and will be treated as such. One warning, then kicked.

We are 100% sure that these rules will make for a repeat of Round 1. Because of this, we are going to be allowing everyone who was banned to participate once again, with no grudges held. Everyone will be treated equally. Hope to see you at round 3! Stay tuned for Points Results from Round 2!

Gelin has reviewed this post, and made some very small changes. You can see the final changes on the main rules post in this thread.

Asphalt Warriors Tryouts!

Hello, LFSERS! After a long break and reconsideration of our direction, AW has decided to start recruiting again! We will be forming several groups of serious drivers to represent us in leagues. As of now, our focus will be on recruiting open wheel drivers. On Friday, February 5th we will be having tryouts for open wheelers. Basically, there will be two sessions to fit both US and UK/AU time zones, but drivers may join either session regardless of where you're from, we are doing two sessions just for convenience. The first session will be at 7:00pm Central Standard Time (Time Zone is GMT -06:00). The second session will be at 7pm Sydney, AU time (Time Zone is GMT +10:00). Both sessions will be held at the (AW)ProFox server. The format will be open-practice on a variety of tracks so we can evaluate drivers on different track-types. The things we will be evaluating will be:
-Clean/respectful driving (this is an absolute must)
-Tire Management
-Consistency
-Ability to drive safely in traffic
-Accident avoidance
-Awareness (paying attention to admin instructions)

During the course of these sessions, we may ask you to do different things such as group up with other drivers, run X amount of laps on a single set of tires, run a hot-lap, things like that. We may also at times put barriers on the track to test your situational awareness. We also may drive in front of you erratically to test your crash/damaged car avoidance.

All that being said, we plan on having a lot of fun with this, and that is the most important thing here. If you are not interested in joining AW, you are still welcome to show up and enjoy yourself, just make sure you let the admins know ahead of time what your plans are, and make sure you pay attention to what they are trying to accomplish with other drivers at all times. It would help us greatly if you would post here and let us know if/which session you plan to attend, but it is not required. I have posted a GMT map below for those who need it. See you at the track!

My Summary
88Reasons
S2 licensed
Well, the first round of the 2010 AirAttack Rallycross Cup is in the books! It was a very competitive field starting with approximately 12 cars in the heat races. The B-main saw the number one car of Nillson clinching the final A-Main position, as well as becoming a definite favorite to win the final race.

The starting grid for the A-Main set up what would be an extremely competitive race as the number 7 car of Blixt lined up in the first position with the number 13 of [AA]Juha and the number 9 of [GRT]Gelin on his outside to form the front row. Behind them was another 3-wide row with the number 12 of Berglund taking the inside in 4th, with the number 11 of G.TammERC and the B-Main winner rounding out the field.

Nillson dominated the green light, shoving his way to the front to challenge Blixt for the lead as Berglund stayed right on his bumper for 3rd. The three-car battle for the lead continued onto the asphalt, and back onto the dirt as Blixt and Nillson went side-by side through turns 5, 6, and 7. Nillson would briefly win that battle before making contact and sending his car plowing into the tires. This caused significant suspension damage for Nillson and effectively ended his day.

After recovering from early contact, Berglund impressively ran down Blixt to challenge for the lead on lap 3. The two cars briefly made contact on approach to turn one on the final lap. This gave Berglund a very slight advantage before he sent his car slamming hard into the inside wall. Blixt attempted to take advantage of Berglund's mistake, but was hit by faster
traffic behind him. Blixt would remain unchallenged for the rest of the race, taking the checkered flag and the first win of the 2010 AirAttack Rallycross Cup.

This was my first time attending an AA event, and my first time commentating any event. Thanks to Yann (AKA Commentator1) for commentating with me. This event was well run, action packed, and very competitive. I can definitely recommend this cup to anyone looking for close action and great race-marshalls. Very nice job, AA!

Hello,
There have been some Turkish guys hanging out in our Ventrillo lately and no-one knows who they are. They are not causing any problems at all, other than we have no way of communicating with them, NONE of them speak English. We would at least like to know what team they're from, and where they're racing so we can race with them! Any help is greatly appreciated. Just message me and we can exchange MSN addresses so I can message you when they are in our Vent. As I said, this is not a "problem" just more of a curiosity.

Hello everyone! Its that time of the year again, and we are proud to announce that sign-ups are officially open for the 12 Days of Christmas UFBR league!

Here are the details:
There will be a total of 6 race-days held on Tuesdays and Fridays, with each race being held TWICE each day to fit different time zones. The time for the first race each day will be at 8pm Central Standard Time[GMT-6:00] (for those of us who are state-side). The time for the second race will be 9:00pm AEST [GMT+10:00]. The car will be the UFBR, (45% intake restriction on the UFR). For those of you who dont know, this car makes for AWESOMELY close racing and we are very excited and optimistic about it!

All races will be standing starts, and we will have cautions ONLY when
absolutely necessary. A recovery car will be available to try and flip your
car over should you be on your roof/side, or if you get bogged down into the sand. The recovery car will only attempt to recover your car for one full caution lap. We will be watching, and anyone who is caught purposefully pulling into the sand or flipping their car will be removed from the race.
[Tuesday, Dec.8th]
***This race will have a randomized starting grid following a practice
session. We did this because lap times are bound to be extremely close on oval anyway, making qualifying pointless.***

We will be inviting the top 5 winners from each time zone to participate in
our Race In 2010 Grand National Event. The track/car combo and race format for this event is only known by 2 AW members, neither of which is competing in this league. This final event will be without a doubt the most unique and entertaining events ever attempted in LFS. The 10 lucky drivers who are eligible for this event at the time will be informed of the track/car combo and race format within 48hours of race day! RACE TO THE NATIONALS, LFSers!

Sign ups as well as everything else related to this league and our team are available in our forums at http://awlfs.freeforums.org/as ... mas-ufbr-league-t189.html. Hello victor,
AW will be running a 12 Days of Christmas UFBR league, and would like to have a sub-forum ASAP. As usual we will be using our own sub-forums as the main source of information/administration of the league. www.asphalt-warriors.webs.com/Forums/Leagues and events. We would like to have a sub-forum here as well for signups and publicity. Thanks,
(AW)88Amped

p.s. Do we actually have to have the first race UNDER WAY to have a sub-forum? That would almost defeat the purpose. Everything is set, and we WILL be running this league....

Rescheduling

Hello everyone! There was some confusion as to our start time(s) mid-league. Sorry about that, we had complaints from several people about the time of the races so we decided to change it mid-league. This proved to be a vital mistake as people simply did not know when to show up, particularly for the last race. We will schedule this last race sometime soon for those who are interested. I will contact everyone who participated in the league with all of the information. Please look for our "12 Days of Christmas UFBR League".

Thanks to everyone for your feedback about our race(s). We will likely be making this into an all out league very soon so keep checking back. We tried to get a sub-forum up for these events and it sure would have helped. But in the words of a forum moderator who will not be identified here, "Sub forums are only for leagues that have proven to be successful". Perhaps we've earned the required credibility now? Would be nice. Stay tuned everyone!

Get a piece of cardboard, about the size that a car would look like being right up on it's ass. Tape it to the monitor in the appropriate place. Learn the track with cardboard there, then try and interpret what the driver is about to do after you have mastered that.

I thought this up a long time ago, but never have tried it.

RACE 1 IS NOW FULL UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE. THIS COULD CHANGE SO KEEP CHECKING BACK HERE OVER THE NEXT FEW DAYS! THANKS TO EVERYONE FOR YOUR SUPPORT AND PARTICIPATION IN THIS VERY IMPORTANT EVENT!

AsphaltWarriors is very proud to announce that we will be joining forces with the ETeam to help find a cure for Dystonia! A member and server host for our team (AWGary) is a victim of this debilitating disease and we have decided to do something about it. For more information about Dystonia, please visit www.dystonia-foundation.org

On July the 11th, we will be running 2 races to raise awareness and hopefully charitable donations for the Dystonia Research Foundation. A donation IS NOT REQUIRED to race in either events, but of course is highly appreciated as this is the main point of the events. If you cannot donate but still want to race, at least visit the foundation's website and/or find a
family member or friend that may be able to donate. Every dime counts.

Race 1 will be the DystoniaAwareness350 hosted at (AW)DystoniaAwareness350 2pm Central Standard Time. This will be 350 miles (168 laps+2 for pace laps) at Kyoto Ring with the FZR, 2 pit stops
required. Registrations will be taken here, and a password will be sent to you via a Private Message the day before the race. We will be running NASCAR style rules with a rolling start, full course cautions, AND lucky dog passes to keep it competitive. Cautions will be thrown for any spin or crash that obstructs the track. If you are the cause of a caution or involved in a
caution you cannot receive free passes under that caution period. NASCAR rules state that the lucky dog pass is granted under caution to the fastest car 1 lap down, our modification to this rule will be that the fastest car 1 lap down gets the free pass under caution, but also anyone who is multiple laps down can safely make up as many laps as necessary under caution to get WITHIN 1 LAP of the leader. We understand this can be confusing to some people, so we will have trained moderators in the server giving instructions. Paying attention under yellow will be extremely important. Not obeying instructions from moderators WILL result in penalties or removal from the race.

Penalties for infractions committed under green flag conditions MUST be served under green flag conditions, but penalties for infractions committed under yellow flag conditions may be served under yellow, or green flag conditions.
If you are pitting under the yellow flag, you must enter and exit the pits behind the pace car. Pitting or leaving the pits in front of the pace car will result in a drive through penalty.
Other penalties will be given for things such as overly aggressive driving, not minding Blue Flag, etc. Moderator decisions will be FINAL during race conditions. If you have a dispute about a moderator's decision(s) please provide a replay, and details. We will review and analyze any disputes and will make adjustments to the finishing order after the race if necessary, but this is higly unlikely as our moderators are all NASCAR fans and therefore are very familiar with NASCAR rules.

Qualifications for the race will be NASCAR style as well, You get 2 laps, your out lap to get up to speed, and then one additional lap for your time. You will be instructed to leave the pits and qualify as soon as the previous car passes the pits for his/her 2nd lap. This sounds like it takes a long time, but if everyone pays attention and leaves the pits when instructed then it actually goes quite smoothly.

Race 2 will be the DystoniaAwareness Kyoto GP. This will be a 1.5 hours Open GT race at Kyoto GP Long, with 2 Categories :
GTA : FZR 20% air restriction and XRR 25% air restriction
GTS : FXR 32% air restriction
There will be more details to come about Race 2 as it will be hosted and handled by ETeam. Their rules and style of moderating may differ slightly from ours.

We are all very excited about this event and hope we accomplish our goal of raising money and awareness for the cause at hand. It is not very often in life that you will have the opportunity to do something that is fun, and help fight a serious disease at the same time. If you have any questions or suggestions at all, please do not hesitate to post them here or contact me directly. We want these races to be as fun and competitive as possible. To keep things in order, all questions regarding Race1 should be directed to me and all questions regarding Race2 should be directed to Vegas Las of ETeam. See you at the track!

Ok, try to : So you mean you have a problem predicting/cornering when close to other cars, because their cars fat ass is all over screen blocking your veiw?
