Quote from dawesdust_12 :I personally can't believe the ignorance here about Macs. They are awesome to use, Not like windows XP which has to have a security flaw patched every .002 seconds. OSX has had very few, and the ones that have been patched, weren't exploited. Once I get my 20" iMac, I'm gonna throw this "Dull Grey Box" out the freaking window, and be 33.3% OSX, 33.3% Linux and 33.3% XP, All on 1 Pretty little White curved rectangle.

Also, about the point of another Architecture, If you haven't realized, there are a such thing as the INTEL iMacs, so Scawen would basically only have to re-code/mod-code for Unix/Linux type of OS.

yeah, but if you watch the commercials, how many lfs players do you see in those groups?

Just kidding, but you can run LFS using bootcamp as far as i know.

I'd say a 15% fuel limit, and we drive on something like Aston Cadet, like someone already suggested. Is there any way to make sure everyone starts with the same amount of fuel?

Quote from dougie-lampkin :This is exactly why I almost never race. If you're not the fastest, you will have a car on your ass forcing you to brake late and go wide, or else get shunted off the track if you brake normally. Happens on almost every server. I've even reported a few on CTRA for it, and was told it's classed as "racing contact". The bloody AI do a better job of not hitting me

The worst is when the faster driver behind doesn't take an easy opportunity to pass, but waits to pass on a corner. I brake at my normal spot (which is apparently a gazillion miles behind that of the faster driver, as he would never expect a car to brake here...) and then get rewarded with a good 'ol shunt into the gravel/barrier/other car. And then if you retaliate in the same way (which you have to, admins won't do anything) then it's "revenge wrecking".

Can't wait for LFS to have some kind of safety racing a la iRacing. Then if you shove others off the road you'll never ever get anywhere

/rant

I get pretty pissed about the same things. I try to be courteous to the guys who are faster than me, but some of them are just amazing. One today came up behind me on a straight, but by the time we got alongside each other we were at the same speed. His response was to lay on his horn and type GET OUT OF MY WAY, instead of following the line that i'd left open for him. I don't think i've ever been actually pissed at anyone on a server before today.

The good races make up for the occasional bad sport, though.

Quote from piggy501 :Broken link. But good car, available in GT4 I think. I would check, but I can't remember what I did with the damn disk.

Huh, the link still works for me. Yeah, it was in GT4. I need to drag my ps2 back out so I can play that again. I just wanna know what it would be like, driving with that downforce available all the time. It'd be pretty cool.

Quote from ATC Quicksilver :You should definately buy it now, most games will entertain you for a few months before getting boring, then you have to wait for a new version of the game which can be expensive. With LFS if you get bored you can stop playing until they release a new patch, some people say that takes too long, but you don't have to keep on paying to get the updates. I purchased S2 the day it was released as an alpha, and I am still playing it at least once a week.

The online racing is much better on S2, you have more organised servers with better admins and insim applications, there are still certain servers that you might want to avoid, but if you avoid wrecking people on purpose or breaking server rules then you should never be banned.

If you still need convincing then take a look at the LFS forum Movie of the Year...

That was amazing
Man, watching that made me wanna get back online. Guess it's back to race 1

Quote from el pibe :servers that i usually go ( like ctra race 1 ) i always choose the XRG because i find it more rewarding than the XFG.... and if i have a good setup i just fly away in the straights and they never catch me back...

Same here. I find the XRG a little more of a challenge to drive. I usually end up in the back of the field (not the car's fault), but when i put in a great lap, it feels really good.

Quote from Ikaponthus :You're grasping at straws.

What you said was that, "the interface doesn't matter one bit".

I simply pointed out that comment is completely untrue. If it was true, then in real life they wouldn't spend so much money on "the interface".

Do you have any idea why they cost 40 grand? It's not because of the wheel. It's the electronics inside. They'd pay just as much for another method of controlling the car if it was mainstream.

I play with an xbox controller, and after only racing online for a few days can stay consistent with times a few seconds behind the front runners. Does that mean that LFS isn't a good sim? No. You get the same feedback using a joystick as you would a wheel. Move the stick, and the car turns. There is no difference, it's just learning to control the car in a different way.

Quote :Well surely not everyone has the space/money/needs for a wheel and it would be practical to use something smaller? Or am I just wrong?

Exactly why i use an xbox controller. It's a little impractical to carry around a momo with my laptop. I still get incredibly immersed with the controller. When you're driving, you're driving. It's hard to quantify it, but the experience is still the same.

Nice, it seems like it's a lot easier to fit everything on the FXO. I had to leave the numbers out just to get the sponsers on the XRG. Looks good so far.

Quote from c00kie :I was going to say something about fixing that, since in that episode the door is open and reads penis... I remember jeremy mumbling something about arse biscuits on one side and penis on the other lol

Yeah, I got Larsen's Biscuits to line up correctly, so if you look close enough, it says arse biscuits on the door, but I can't get Peniston Oils to line up right. There's not enough room to have it all in one line unless i make the logo smaller. I'm working on it, though

Zippy, I'm looking forward to seeing yours

Quote from chavm481 :i made it not as dirty and more, dirt lie, your looked like you took grey spray paint an covered in in circles...
heres what i did.. feel free to tell me what you dont like. and lets both work on it!
do some stuff to it and ill actully make the dirt better (its too dark) tommorrow.

Looks a lot better than what i had. I honestly have no idea how to properly do any of this, so I just gave it a shot with a paintbrush. I'll mess around with what you put down and see what i can come up with. The dirt looks pretty good to me, I'm gonna work on getting the basic stuff sharpened up some more. Thanks mate!

Here you go, mate. This is a pretty lightly worn version, i'm working on a better, heavier one. I'll give the FXO a try as soon as i get this one finished. Let me know if you see anything that needs changed.

This is my first time doing this, so if you've got any hints, i could really use the help . I dirtied it up a bit, but i'm scared of going too far, so it might be too little.

Seriously, any criticism welcome, I'm looking for ways to improve this.

I'm gonna try to do some paint chips, dirt, and wear and tear to make the skin look a little more authentic. Any other ideas on how to make it look better?

Quote from chavm481 :very nice can someone get it for me on the fxo?

Thanks! The FXO should work better than the XRG did, so i could probably get it a bit closer to the BMW. I'll give it a try tonight. I've still gotta redo the Peniston Oil logo to match the TG car, so once i get that done it'll look a lot better.

This is my first skin, so it's probably a little rough . This is based off the Top Gear 24hr BMW, with a few changes due to the different shape of the XRG. It's still a WIP, but I'd like to know what you guys think.
