It was only a matter of time before I made a Top Gear video with GT5

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l68z3XzySMQ

This is why we need authentic Top Gear camera angles and Stig driver models.

Hope you enjoy!

Quote from Flame CZE :Great video, very funny

Anyone got the XRT bouncy setup?

KiRmelius originally had that setup.

Quote from FireMike15 :One thing I want to say, the scene at 03.18 is very cool, the uf1 is rolling over, why you don't cut this into the whole video? But nevertheless, its very funny and cool, good job.

Greetz.

I very nearly did include this in the final film, but I didn't think it fitted the scene, there was some lag in the crash and there was already more than enough UF1 destruction.

Quote from shaun463 :You may have noticed about three billion fails from me . The parts where I failed most were with the red Audi A4, the Jaguar XK in blue, the black RB4, the Opel Ascona and the Toyota Corolla Levin AE86 .

If you see any traffic cars hitting us, you can almost guarantee it was Shaun

You've seen the film, but now it's time to reveal the behind the scenes outtakes you didn't see.

This final bonus supplement to Collateral Collision gives you an insight into the arduous production process of the ambitious car chase machinima, featuring a series of vehicular mishaps for your viewing pleasure. Most of which involve me losing control and crashing a lot, but let's gloss over that.

If anything, this video will hopefully highlight the painstaking amount of effort from the LFS community that went into this production.

Thanks to all those that have viewed Collateral Collision so far!

Quote from KiRmelius :Yay, it's not forgotten!.
Nice vid, scenes were nicely repeated in Collateral collision. But the last scene wasn't inspired by movie. IIRC i was bored and i was crashing all the cars i saw, ant then i accidently did the roll, somebody saw this, and said it would look nice in the movie. Thats the story of this stunt. Then Start wars wanted to add this stunt in this clip, so he just found similar crash scene (not difficult, crashes like this often happens in movies) and put it here. Am I right?

will there be Collateral Collision 2?

[QUOTE=jrd.racer;1351195] lol love the xrt at the end. [QUOTE]
at least i did something well

Spot on. And this was the case for a lot of the movies in this clip - they happen to be similar.

If you watch the full movie there are full creidts at the end

I should also note that not all of the movie scenes here were directly mimicked. Many of the scenes in my film followed typical car chase cliches and were similar as a result, so I found a lot of these influences afterwards. Plus I am a complete movie car chase geek so I think a lot of it came instinctively

Some of you may remember Collateral Collision, our ambitious LFS car chase movie project released last year which involved a huge collaborative effort by the LFS community. For those who are not familiar with it, you can watch the full movie here.

This is a bonus supplement to the aforementioned movie that details the various cinematic inspirations that applied to the project.

My goal was to create the most authentic and definitive machinima car chase possible within Live For Speed which drew inspiration from just about every movie car chase scene known to man. The Influences is therefore a montage of movie scenes compared against equivalent or similar scenes from Collateral Collision.

More bonus Collateral Collision videos will be released soon.

Trust me on this one - making a movie of these proportions is a tremendous headache and takes an awful lot to pull off.

Haha, I love this series. It's a German police show that has some of the best car stunts seen in a TV show, with each episode featuring a number of car chase scenes. For comparison, here is the intro to the TV series:

As for your video, it could have been done better to be honest. The scenes lacked excitement since the angles were not very close to the action - I'd suggest trying to use more field of view in your shots. The audio was also not very in sync with the on screen action, either, and it just wasn't very clear what the purpose was.

By the way, the motorway scene in my movie Collateral Collision plays out much in the same way as this series, if you are a fan of the show.

Quote from bavorak :I m sure this was being made much longer than other movies...it is over 12- minute-long and there are dosens of shots still dynamic with a good camera...and creating the scenes in lfs wasnt easy too...I have tried it myself
maybe the 5-star rating isnt just for quality but also for the idea and the hard work which was put into it it just impressed people
but all in all...you are a bit right...it can still be better and if it was it still would have just those 5 stars...now there is no motivating star to improve

Thank you, well said bavorak.

And thanks to everyone who has seen our work so far!

Not quite years, but an extraordinary amount of time was spent preparing, executing and then finally editing this project. I'm doubtful many other movies have had this amount of time put into a project as it certainly took more than a few days I really put my all into it.

Quote from logitekg25 :well...now i am off to spot them, be back in about 14 minutes

EDIT: computer being gay, so i cant view the vids

Here is an example. During the establishing shot of us joining the motorway take a closer look at the sign:

I am from Bristol in England and our motorway is the M32, so I modified the sign to express this

And there are many more besides this.

No, some little details that were added for you to spot

Yes you are nitpicking again

There were so many separate scenes to do that I made a conscious effort to deliberately damage the back of my car with each take. But I think on one occasion I forgot There are a lot more goofs than this in the film too, but in a way it makes it more movie like to have mistakes to spot

There are also a few personal touches that nobody seems to have picked up on yet...

Quote from Itar (CZ) :Where to start. All in all, I liked it, but I'm quite confused of so many "omgreatmoviethebest!" posts. Don't get me wrong, I don't think this movie is bad.. but it seems to me that hype did most of the work here and I think that all in all it's overrated. To movie itself...

I really admire work you had to spend with sound effects. Those were really amazing and did main part of job for atmosphere and final feeling. Some crashes were also spectacular and looked almost real, which is impressive, since LFS don't have that good crash model atm. Any other than that, I think it wasn't bad, but it wasn't top. Camera could be better, some story would be also appreciated in this kind of movie, and so on...

8/10 for spectacular crashes, very good sync of sound effects and for handling a lot of drivers on the server for what you needed.

Thanks for the feedback Itar. As I said before, this movie won't be for everyone since it is not your everyday LFS movie, so all I can say is that I did my absolute best for what is my first ever LFS movie, and wanted to do something a bit different

Thanks for the comments, Timdpr. And you raise some good points MP3 Astra, I don't think anyone can imagine how hard it was to pull off a project of this magnitude, especially for what was our first ever LFS movie. On the whole though, I was pleased with people's contribution and cooperation, it just turned out to become a bit arduous at times which lead to frustration.

That turned out to be one of my favourite scenes And again, the repetition of the motorway couldn't be avoided due to the limitations of LFS once again. As for the ending, we were going to have one or the other crash but I felt that leaving it with the spectacular pileup and having me finally get away after causing such chaos would have a more effective ending overall.
