Thrust bearing

Hey all

Loving the support for mods. Thought i'd create this thread for suspension related questions. Been having a tinker tonight trying to emulate my grass cars double wishbone suspension.

What does the 'thrust bearing' relate to in the double wishbone settings.

And trying to set the range of travel for the suspension, is the lowest wheel height the relationship between the wheel centre and the origin (or floor pan)? and in a similar vein, is 'max up' measurement in relationship to the same point?

Suppose I should also ask if when doing the points coordinates for upper and lower, these are also in relation to the floorpan?

I can't quite get my head around the spring rates too, is the value we have the wheel rate? From initial playing around, the wheels don't seem to go into bump as much as they should upon dropping the car.

So that covers the front axle. What is the best way to approximate a rear beam 4 link?

Cool tool.

Thanks in advance.

Sam

Looks sweet! What firmware (and where do you find it/them?) are you using? And the skin?

Quote from dawesdust_12 :That's impossible as it needs some manner of processing as HDMI is a digital signal, whereas 3.5mm jacks carry an analogue signal. That's what the AV receiver actually does, is it converts the digital signal into analogue.

Oh shit didn't know that, thanks for the clear explanation dawes!

Ok.

I was thinking perhaps there was a HDMI> 3x 3.5mm jack adapter, but there isn't. Meh

Quote from dawesdust_12 :No.

that's the easiest without unplugging anything.

Gonna be a pain in the ass... What's the best way allowing for unplugging?

Thanks

Hello there

Soon a beautiful Nokia N8 will arrive in the post, but i have a question: If i have 5.1 speakers plugged into my PC and i want to use my Nokia as the "media player" so to speak, how could i do that without unplugging the sound system from the PC?

The nokia has HDMI output of dolby 5.1 surround sound so using it as a media player shouldn't be a problem, it's just a question of going from HDMI to 3x 3.5mm jacks right? Green, Black, Pink. But it'd be best if i didn't have to actually unplug the speakers from the system....

I also have a monitor with HDMI capability if that could be of any use, as well as a HD5850 with Displayport out. (Regarding this, i wonder if audio could go from Nokia HDMI>DISPLAYPORT>INTO GRAPHICS CARD>THROUGH SOUND SYSTEM?)..

Been brought up around autograss,

Which class did you used to race? Just been in juniors (saloons) for my first season.
Work with my dad in the garage, makes for good weekends! Going to be moving up into Class 4 next season, starting car being a Mini, and dropping in Cooper S based mini engine with fuel injection + ECU (instead of the vabor carbs) - Hoping too make 120hp, and with a space framed mini with 12inches extra track, this sh*t has got to be fun :P! Cannot wait..

You could check for a spark by taking each plug out at a time by grounding the metal casing of the sparkplug and seeing if it sparks.

Heat could be a problem. Go into your drivers and see what temps you are running whilst playing games!

My bad, that must be some high-quality 4-stroke engine engineering xD.

EDIT: The gixxer is a motorbike.. that explains things :P

Quote from Migz :Not too sure why you'd want something like a 600cc GSXR engine?
If your making a little lightweight buggy imo that'd be just stupid.

A good friend of mine does go karting and he has a Rotax 124cc Engine in his go kart (Exact same engine from an Aprilia RS125) and his go kart would happily do over 100mph.
Stick a smaller front sprocket on it and it'll do about 90 tops but it'll get there shit quick.
I don't know what putting a 600cc engine in a little go kart/buggy would be like but im sure it'd be just too much power for something like that.

The Aprilia RS125 is a 2-stroker, with probably about the same power as a 600cc 4 stroke engine. Difference being, the 2-stroker is bloody expensive, unreliable, and very very dirty. Having said that they give you a thrill to remember when hitting the power band xD

Those autograss buggies can be bought for 4000
You can pretty much buy the chassis / wish bones / etc for one of those buggies for ^^ said price, including the engine.

Basing your buggy on one of those could turn out pretty cheap, and you could pretty much rob the design of the chassis / wish bones / swing arms / etc from one of the buggies. Could simplify things somewhat.

BTW: they are ****ing rapid. And they also do a class 10 version, which is basicly the same thing but having 2 engines. The things fly.

In the video he seems to release the brakes entirely, and takes quite a long time to rebuild brake pressure. That's just rubbish.

Exactly what i thought. An efficient way to use cadence braking is too apply full pressure until tyres lock, decrease until they are spinning, apply till lock. You don't have to fully release the brake pedal. That's just dim.

Maximum grip of a tyre is when it has not quite lost grip. Not when it's not spinning and just sliding.

Mine are pretty ****ed tbh. 200-260 ish.

Does anyone know if there are any games which are made to train your reactions in general? If so I'd appreciate it if you posted 'em up for me.
