I haven't played in a while, a LONG while. The only real change I have seen or read about to get excited over is the introduction of that FBM. Patch Z was put in on July of 2008 with updates like New Interiors and and such. Who cares what the inside of the car looks like(I at least don't). Give us real tracks, give us real cars, charge more for the game. Put it on store shelves! Go big or go home. Waiting years for the most simple and minor updates is crazy.

I understand if they don't want to do that its their choice. But being what many of us consider the best sim out there, IMAGINE what it could be if they took it to the next level. I randomly search the markets for a new updated sim that may compete with LFS bit, but still find none. We know that drift and cruise market games are large. Incorporate that into a full blown portion of the game. The people it would draw would be massive, with all the movies and stuff that motovate people, take advantage of it. Put out the dough and fire up LFS side perminent servers with in game stats tracking. Couple the free version with the purchase of a wheel, talk to Logitek GET SHIT MOVING!

I love the sim and its creators, but at this point, I want them to merge with a developer.

Quote from CSU1 :...some say they hear the correct speed(bs imo), and others look at speedo for apex entry speed

BS? Wow. Do you think F1 drivers take the time to glance down at the even easy to read speedo to check entrance speed?

On the race track with my sportbike, I go from 160mph down to around 60mph. 60mph is mid range RPM in 2nd gear. There is no way I would ever take my eye off the track to look at speed when going all out. Its ALL about sound and feel. At least with a slower car it does give you more time to react, but its no less difficult to be fast in a slower car.

I would like it to be much bigger. More servers that are active with more combinations of tracks & cars to race. With the spam of the crusing and drift servers there is only a handfull of servers to choose from for people that want to race.

Many times I jump onto demo servers to find some good racing. Every once in a while I get some good laps in but you know what eventually happens on them.

Quote from KeiichiRX7 :It's moer than jsut converting a track. LFS has it's own Graphical syle and just converting a track will leave you with a course that looks horridly out of place.

-10 (due to scale) for Nordeschliefe
+1 for the GP course
+1 for Bathurst
+1 for Mid Ohio

Mid Ohio was resurfaced. Its fookin amazing now!

I grew up on the streets of South City. The surface there is much slippery there due to the dried blood and shell casings that collect on the apex's and around the 100m markers. When the police shut my neighborhood down for crime scenes (Around turn 4) they pour Coke Cola on the ground to clean it up. Just adds to the loss of grip.

I didn't really start to do well until I started driving the FOX on Redline Servers a few months ago. Once of the Redline guys coached me and I started to really knock major time off my laps. Eventually I moved into the BF1, and for some reason it came very natural. The things I have learned with breaking, exiting and getting on the go peddle earily I was able to easily apply to all cars.

I really take the time and watch other people do a few laps on a particular track/car before I try. When I hit a wall I watch the top people again. You end up learing alot more.

Quote from DarkTimes :That was fantastic! I love Alonso, he's not afriad to be a rebel.

I just watched my HDR recording of the Qualy. Amazing that Alonso and the team held up Hammy like that. These guys are at war with each other, even when they are so called "Team Mates". This is my first year of really paying attention to F1 races and I'm lovin it.

Kinda fooked up about Speed tough, was kinda cool to have a Yank driving. I hope he ends up with another team.

10 of the 12 curves are blind corners! I did about 155 to 160mph on the front strait.

p.s. The X-Ray images are of my boss(Track Instructor) that got taken out by another guy who dropped infront of him in Turn 12.
Car Setups Saved On LFS Desktop
BEEAH

I tried to search this to see if it has been suggested already, but was unable to find anything.

It would be nice to have another feature for LFS Desktop to have a upload area to save Setups for cars. Have a system similar to how the skins uploader works. I hate loosing all of my setups(I know I should backup) when my PC dies or other such happenings.

Maybe have some type of limit, or a slick little system that can help sort all of the setups based on track and car once uploaded. Having a few dozen setups in one folder gets a bit nutz.

Whadda think?

So, in mid August I will be flying to Vitoria Spain for 3 to 6 weeks for work. I am just wondering within the vast members of LFS, if anyone has any pointers and tips for an American traveler?

I don't think I will be working weekends so if anyone has any kick ass tips on sights to see please let me know. I noticed that Italy is really close =D

Haha nice.

I really don't think it would take to much to get something working if I had a robot to myself laying around. I make a point to talk to one of the Software Eng's about how you would apply that data from the ethernet to the robot.

The range of motion on the larger robots is very impressive. We mount robots like the one in the video to a floor mounted 7th axis that the entire robot can move on, these rails can be over 50m long.

I wonder if I could buy one at a discounted price?
Positional Data?
BEEAH

I work for a major robotics company (Fanuc) and wondered about how LFS (or hardware), outputs the positional data that some companys use to build "Sit-In" style chairs that move. One being www.force-dynamics.com. I don't see any reason why this signal could not be fed into one of our robots to do basically the same exact thing. Is this a digital or analog type of signal? One model of robot we have can throw around 210kg at 2000mm/s with 0.18mm of repeatability, I would imagine that would be more then enough.

I work directly with our robots and am just wondring how the data is gathered.

Wild example of an older model.

I looked at it again, took it apart and the fan seems fine. Spinning freely, moving air good. The lamp fail light is on and the alarm says the same thing. Maybe the lamp is bad but its drawing to much power so it shuts it back off. Only thing I can think of.

I may take it to a shop and have someone look at it. No idea where to take it though.
Dell 4100MP Issue

I had one of these units kinda fall into my lap. I noticed that it said "DLP" so I figured it had some promise. It seems that is a decent projector that can do 1080i.

Problem is that when I turn it on, it goes into its warm up cycle. The boot warm up screen comes up, and I have a few seconds to focus the screen. It starts to count down from 30 and only gets to about to 26 seconds before it turns off and displays lamp failure. The lamp seems to be fine as far as turning on, but obvisouly something is going on with it. The fan sounds like it running at least.

Just looking for some possible insite if anyone knows anything about these kind of units. I don't ever know where to start.

I have been spending alot of time on the RR server also with the FOX. I origionally had the WR setup and got down to 103's, struggleing to get any better. I eventually got a new COMPLEATLY different setup. This setup was so different I had problems staying on the track at first. I had Capt James T Kirk coach me for a while and gave me a few good pointers to my problems. He told me to down-shift much faster then I was, this helped alot with the car being more stable in the corners for me. Another thing was in the chicane I was not initially turning in hard enough, this caused me to have to let off the throttle a bit to be able to make the corner. Now that I turn in hard the car is already accelerating comming out of the right hand turn. I went from 33+ split times to 32.60's with this alone, HUGE improvement.

I went from 103+ to 101.46 with a new setup and some pointers from another driver. I guess I have a different style then the WR driver.

One thing I have to continually remind myself...

Slow In, Fast out!

So much fun!

I would be all for them opening up the doors for donations to help the process. I love the fact that they have done this with just the 3 of them, but imagine what they could accomplish if they had more resources at their finger tips? Unless they have commited to creating and maintaining LFS by themselves why not hire one or two more people to help the process out? They would still have full control but knock improvements and gruntwork out much faster.
