Quote from tristancliffe :If you throw the car about, which is very easy to do in a sim, then it will become very unstable. If you're smooth then it's much better.

I agree. Yesterday I tried being smoother and it helps.

But I still claim that when changing direction quickly, as in a chikane, it feels a bit too easy to break out into a drift.

One other thing could be my kerb-riding. It seems like driving on the kerbs reduces grip a lot. Maybe that is realistic.

Quote from Bob Smith :If you are going to compare real life driving to LFS, please use some sensible setups, such as my road going sets (I can't remember if I've released the updated ones for v0.5U - will check when I get home).

And cars should feel like driving in the wet when at the limit. Even when driving hard, you're rarely right at the limit on public roads,.

I have downloaded your roadgoing setups - and will try them out tonight or tomorrow.

But one thing - at the chikane on blackwood, the XR Turbo seems very instable then changing direction. It slides very easily.

I hope that a mitsu Starion was not that bad - it would be a killer car - literally.

Anyway - I will get a S2 license and enjoy the racing. And see what a scary car the Caterham/LX4 car is.

BuddhaBing: So you mean that the reason I experienced a lot of sliding around is that I drove it far too agressively?

That is probably true. I 'll have a go tonight to drive it realisticcally.

Quote from VL4D :Yes, I drive a 2005 Porsche Carrera GT as my daily car and indeed, I dont slide. But when I drive my Murcielago, the Sundays, I slide just like there. Oh Oh, yes, I have a one seater formula 1, and I have Schumacher as my car maintainer.

illepall try to take corners with ur "datsun" like u do in lfs. And when u come back from the work shop, post again.

nissan 350z is not an hatchback

cheers

VL4D: you seem to have a garage with great cars. How does the F1 car in LFS compare to your experiences in your own F1 car.

And by the way, Datsun was renamed Nissan quite a few years ago.

And I know that the 350z is not a hatchback, I tried stuffing all kinds of stuff in the luggage compartment but is wont fit as the 350z is a coupe.

And lastly, it seems you are an idiot sir illepall

Blowtus: what is your opinion on the behaviour of the XR GT Turbo?

Hi again

I didn't mean to be a troll.

I can see that the car in LFS that i should compare to the real life 350z is the Turbo version of the sportscar in the demo.

Today on my way home from work I pay attention to how I drive and brake and my cornering speeds. I will then try to drive like that in LFS and see if the behaviour is more like I would expect it.

I will post my test results when I have them - probably tomorrow.

I really hope that LFS is very realistic, because then I can get a good simulation of the Caterham 7 I plan on getting in a few years.

Cheers all.
What is wrong with the tyres?

Hi

Yesterday I downloaded the game and used it in demo mode.

I expected the sound to be a bit bland from previous test of the demo in older versions. But what I did not expect was the tyre model.

What i wrong with it?

How come the 3 accesible cars in the demo slide/drift around like they were driving on ice? Is it the tyre model? or is the road that is wrong. It felt like I was driving on very very worn tyres that should be illegal both on road and track.

Will this be fixed in the coming patches or is it how you guys like to drive?

I drive a Nissan 350z as my daily car and I do not slide around like that - even when braking and turning slightly at the same time.

If you want to see a good simulation of a car - try out netKar Pro.

Corrupt download files

Hi

I just downloaded the full version of LFS_ALPHA_U from the official download page. I started from mirror #1 but got a corrupt file, mirror # 2 and 3 the same. Only from mirror # 4 did I get a file that winzip could unpack. I don't know it the problem was on my side but maybe it should be looked into as it is a bit annoying to download 130 mb 4 times in order to try this game.

See you online.
