The online racing simulator
Given the vast number of people who have managed to unlock I very much doubt that it's an issue with the LFS development team - although it is possible.

I assume you're ensuring that you're using your GAME password, not your WEB password in LFS?
actually this time there was a problem. But he should be able to unlock now though, provided a GAMEpassword has been created (can do that on your account details page at lfs.net at any time)
EDIT: Never mind got it working now.

Hi all,

I am running a dedicated server on a dedicated box (supplied by jolt). The server seems to be running and shows up in the “in game” list. However when we try to connect we get a message in game saying the server isn’t found on the master server list, and can’t connect. I expect I have missed something silly so I apologise if this is a duplicate post. Any help would be greatly received

It really worries me when an ISP person doesn't know how to do a dns query. Really worries me a lot.

anyway, the IP your LFS wants to connect to is 213.40.20.2
Quote from rap-tea-kewl :hey, i have a quick question if anyone can answer, im just with my stupid isp representetive and i need to know a server's ip (not master.liveforspeed.net but the actual server im connecting to's ip)

If you want to know the IP associated to a URL, you can use a "ping". For example, in XP you run a console window (start menu -> execute -> cmd) and type "ping master.liveforspeed.net". It will resolve the URL into its IP performing automatically a DNS lookup.

Now, if you don't know the URL or the IP of a server you are trying to connect you can use other tools.

The first thing that comes to my mind is to use TCPView (http://technet.microsoft.com/e ... ysinternals/bb897437.aspx). This simple utility shows all open connections you have. So, you run TCPView and then try to connect the LFS host you want to know its IP. If the master server is working and the host is up, then you'll find an entry in TCPView telling you that "LFS.exe" has a TCP connection with IP x.x.x.x. That's the IP of the host you are trying to connect.

As I said, I think this ONLY works if both the LFS master server and the host you are trying to connect are running. The master server is the one that checks the host for you and then tells your LFS executable the IP to connect. If either one of them is not working then your LFS won't know what IP to connect, and so it won't start a connection and you won't see it in TCPView.

I hope this is what you were asking for
victor, its easy to find out the IP of master.liveforspeed.net (ping resolves the dns to ip which is the easiest way to figure it out)

i asked about the server itself IP address (CTRA, Team orange, etc...)

i think Makakazo answered it, thanks alot for your help ill try it out

Edit: thanks alot makakazo for this program, shows everything i need !
good day
I'm connected to internet using proxy server at other location. The other computer don't allow pinging. Also the DNS is not set, so the pinging of master.liveforspeed.net is not posible, (tracing) of 213.40.20.2 is possible but it gets stucked in local network (i'll fix that problem). BUT. The Mozilla, Thunderbird, IExplorer and all other windows programs allow using a proxy and they work fine, even now.
I have full access to other computer and program for proxy (ccproxy), but I don't know what to do in this case. Is it posible to use a proxy with LFS? I can't connect this computer in any other way to internet.
My Big Problem!!!!!!!

No problems with you pings wfx. It doesn't automatically mean your LFS can connect to the master server though.

SOoo whats that mean lol
It means that the application 'ping.exe' can connect to the master server, but 'lfs.exe' cannot. Either an antivirus or a firewall is blocking LFS from connecting at an application level.

In a rare case it could be a router issue too, but general consumer ones don't usually give a flying hoot unless you're actually hosting a server.
I need help too...i have it unblocked...i did everything but it dont work...

It used to work but i have a wireless connection now
Quote from Victor :TEST 1 - ping
-click Windows Start button
-click Run
-enter the command cmd and press enter
-type : ping master.liveforspeed.net
-copy the outcome and post it here

This is an extremely small, stupid thing to bring up...
but it will work if you type ping master.lfs.net... I know this is a very small and stupid thing to bring up but it would save people that extra effort and time by just typing lfs instead of liveforspeed (some beginner lfs'ers are beginners at computers aswell so they my not know their way around the keyboard as much...)

Wow, I need help...

and then i tried adding "213.40.20.2 master.liveforspeed.net" into my hosts file but i won't let me save it.

Any help?

I know why the file would save... I think...
Save the file temporally on your desktop then move the file on your desktop over your main hosts file, it then should ask for administrator permission (because vista does that)... accept the request and it should have copied the file over it...
connection error...
I have a similar problem with connecting to servers. With my old computer and old ISP LFS ran perfectly.

Now i have updated both comp and ISP, and moved to a new apartment.

Im running LFS on a 2x2.4ghz intel with 4 gig ram and Geforce 9600M GT.

I have a 24mbit ADSL Line, so bandwidth is no broblem.

When trying to connect to a server i almost never get a connection. It fails at different points of the access to.

Did not recieve guest info.

Fails to load skins,

Did not recieve OK from server.

When i finally get connected to a server it runs perfectly though. No lag och disconnections. Its only connecting to servers that almost always fails.

And if a connection is successful the connection process is really slow... takes almost 2 min to get connected.

When i run the tests i see i have major packet loss. I really miss LFS and need help to get it running.
