OT - No time left to clean her ffs. Lots of pics to come up tonight, but she's a bit dirty in them.

She? Don't you mean it?
You sure that isn't an evo 6?

That is alright rly.

condoms.

You are a teenager so you should just keep the basics:some tissues, zit cream.........................porn mags...........................your standard chav 9mm .

Euhm an Evo 6 has more "square" lights
This may have been said already, but there is no need to upgrade your sound system just because it hasnt got a cd or I pod jack. Just use one of those AUX. jacks that fits into a tape player. I have no idea what they are called, but we have one for our old CR-v

Quote from Becky Rose :condoms.

LOL.

SRSLY.

I have an alcohol tester in the glove box, a manual and... thats it. And De-Icer under the seat. Anything else...?

Don't they murder the sound quality?

I asked the same OP on a Proton forum - so far i've got things such as "new wheels" and "lower it" which i'm geussing the LFS forum will hate.
Quote from Jakg :Anything else...?

Maps, GPS, gloves, handkerchief, keys, documents, sprays... No more ideas now.
Quote from Jakg :LOL.

.

IMO no. Our CR-V doesnt have the best sound system to begin with, but everything sounds fine. In fact, I think it does a better job than the AUX. jack in our other car.
Proton forums = Proton fanboi's. There isn't any point lowering a road car, and there isn't any point getting fancy wheels to stick on a car as ugly as that (sorry :razz.

Fire extinguisher, wires for jumpstart, a can of petrol and tools to change tyre. Oh yea, and a towing rope. You cant be careful enough, trust me
Quote from sam93 :It is not to reduce weight, its just for looks etc... When are some people going to understand that there is different types of modifying, 1.looks and the other performance, this car is just for looks.

I really don't understand the obsession with carbon fibre, the cars I work on have 5 figures worth of carbon fibre bodywork, all of which is painted so it doesn't look so naff. If you really need the carbon look then why not just get some fake carbon fibre stickers, it's not going to look any worse than a large unpainted panel.

The things you were standing by in your previous avatar, far less attractive than what you're standing by in your current avatar.

It is only an old cheap car, I'd be worried if you miss it when you get your second slightly more memorable car so stop trying to waste money on it

Seriously though check tyres and levels are ok and check the brake pads/shoes if you know how (or book it in for a service). Other than that ensure you've got air in your tyres (don't forget the spare). Also ensure you can locate locking wheel nut remover (probably not relevant for you), a jack and a wheel brace, sounds silly but when I had a puncture the other day I found that I had no wheel brace in the car no idea where it went
Quote from Jakg :Redex etc. Any good?

Known in the trade as PFM in a can.

Pure Fecking Magic in a can.

It's essentially useless, but idiots swear by it. Most of time it just makes your engine smoke for a few minutes, but doesn't do any good.

Every so often (once every 5 years, or every 7 - 10 services) I use an oil cleansery product. I buy it from Halfords (pretty much the only thing I buy from Halfords, but only because I can get trade discount on everything), pop it in the engine for the drive home, then drain the oil, and it flushes out a bit more of the crap. I buy it from Halfords because it's the right distance from my house, and saves a journey for the sake of it (I buy it when I'm passing, rather then going out especially).

Don't waste your money on redex or any other 'products' that claim to magically improve your engine. They don't do anything TLC and an 'italian tune up' won't.
I havn't quite read the full topic Jack, but tbh, it's not worth it, I got some nice little alloys for mine and the paint job that it needed anyway.

I found new K/N filter that came off a Rover 25 () so I put on it and it's not even worth it, makes a little mooow, no noticeable differnce, waste of money and I didn't even buy the thing.

As for the sound system, I just put in 2 new sony speakers and a CD player, only 20 qid or something for the speakers, loud and clear enough.

I've had corsa for about 17 months now or more and that's all i've done to it (Minus repair bills and stuff) and I still feel like i've wasted to much money on it.

Peices of crap like our first cars arn't worth the time or effort Jack, buy yourself a day at the track with your money or something...

why buy fake carbon fibre stickers when you can afford the real thing, some people just will never under stand modifying in this way, it's not for performance or racing etc... it's for looks, show and to become your pride and joy.

You couldn't even really see the girls in my old avatar and also that dog is a really nice bull dog actually, dont really see brown british bull dogs and ones that weigh 30kilos at the age of 11 months.

Some people just really annoy you and you are one of those, none of you on here seem to not understand modifying in this way. It's what I like so I dont really care what any of you think. I actually think that some people on here are to scared to admit that they like modified cars.

I only assume it is this status symbol and demonstrating you've spent lots of money on carbon bits, I still don't think it looks very attractive, it looks ok for interior pieces and little bits so not bothering to paint it where it won't be so obvious is alright, but I'm still a bit confused as to whether people like the look of unpainted body panels or if you just want to willy wave.
Nah, we just can't see the point in turning a shite car into a shiter car, and removing any 'taste' during the process, for a hideous amount of cash that could be used for something better - a better car, a years racing, property investment...

Making a van into a silly looking van with silly audio systems that would be worse in every way on the road (or track, but let's ignore that aspect) just doesn't do anything for car geeks.
If it is just for looks, why bother with wasting money on the real deal, when like ajp said, you could just use the slap on stuff?
you know, you could fit evo 6 running gears in your wira, that makes it quick.

seriously, it may be good idea if you buy cheap pre-paid mobile phone in your glove box, in case of breakdown, and spare £30 or whatever your full tank of petrol cost, to just get you home.

and apply plenty of glass cleaner on windscreen, inside/out that make difference on visability.

and get a basic tool box with tools in boot incase you do work on it.

that all you need. dont speed :P
Quote from Jakg :alcohol tester

Why waste the money? Any home alcohol tester are highly inaccurate and seen as though you're 17 you really aren't an experienced enough driver to mix any amount of alcohol with driving.

I skipped the thread as it is too long and visual modding is for gays, the only mod I'd do is an LPG conversion to save yourself some dimes. Plus if you drive it in the Humberside Police area people will think you're an undercover cop and never cut you up... well maybe not you because you look like you're 12
Quote from vrooom :you know, you could fit evo 6 running gears in your wira, that makes it quick.

Yeah it would be much easier to find an Evo 6 and just get that instead - from memory the people who do they Proton + Evo -> Proton Evo conversions usually end up getting a fully working Evo to do it with because the right model is so rare, and then totally gut it...

Glass cleaner is going on after tomorrows wash.

I have several pre-paid phones handy so i'll throw the Blyk one in.

The alchohol tester was a present - it has a torch, a stopwatch ("how long have i got left on the parking?") and most importantly while I say i'll never drink and drive i'm sure that one day I will have some alcohol and drive - and then i'd like something concrete to tell me not to if it's anywhere near a dangerous amount and I don't realise.
Quote from sam93 :It is one of the nicest Astra vans in the country

that basically amounts to saying its the nicest smelling turd anyone has ever pushed out of himself

Quote from sam93 :It does turn heads

i think you meant to say stomachs

Quote from Jakg :Don't they murder the sound quality?

what sound quality? youre playing back mp3s in the worst possible acoustic environment known to men
even though mr odgers might claim different trying to get a car to sound good is completely pointless impossible and a waste of money... especially if you plan to drive it instead of just sitting there with the engine off listening to music
