The online racing simulator
SPEED Channel finally does something right
...Now they just need to give the footage a nice cut and put it on the air in place of all that NASCAR crap.

They seem to have begun a series of articles of the old IMSA Camel GT (GTP) stuff, accompanied by video of the original telecasts. As far as I know this the only article on the site so far, but I hope these keep up with relative frequency.

The first is the 1989 Sears Point GTP event.

Great stuff in this, for sure. These are the cars that first sparked my love-affair with racing and cars in general. I recall the exact moment it hit me, too. I was at Mosport when I was very young (I have the 1993 Program, but the car I recall seeing was the '89 NISSAN GTP-ZX Turbo, so I'm not sure what year it was), and walking back to our vehicle from the paddock I saw one of the Nissans sitting in the pits in queue to return to its garage. The moment I saw that car I was hooked.

Can't wait to see what else they've got. I love these cars.
when racing was still racing, and it was fun to watch the good ol days... damn, I feel I was born too late
Great stuff, thanks for the heads up
I have fairly ancient computer... but man that web flash player gimmick is horrible! Unable to view the videos smoothly. At least previously, don't know about these videos but I doubt it makes difference.

But fortunately the same vids are also here

http://www.americanlemans.com/home/ALMSHome.aspx

Those seem to play better.
That's odd, I have notoriously slow internet here in residence and the videos loaded up quite quickly and with no stuttering at all for me. Thanks for the other link, though - I didn't even think to check the ALMS site.

I actually had those vid players blocked because they annoy the shit out of me if I try to browse the pages normally. Took a while to see why nothing was loading

Sounds on website = very bad
Background music you can't turn off = hostile invasion
Random auto-play videos on website = castration

I meant CPU, not internet. I guess that flash shit just eats too much CPU.

I failed to download these with Orbit Downloader, so I guess embedding the vids to a blank page is then the next best thing:

I agree with you that the NASCAR has to be gotten rid of becuase i want to watch Sports Car racing or Motor Bike racing not that boring NASCAR which you go in a circle and get dizzy
I'm pretty sick of all the NASCAR stuff on speed aswell. At least they do have some good programming available. I'll be looking forward to this

I actually want more ARCA and Indy
I want speed, To cover Drift, Autocross, And the "import and tuner" type stuff, they got a few good shows but " I want MORE MORE MORE!"..Haha Sorry, I am a feign For imports!
ARCA > NASCAR, just remember that mate
Tuning culture=Life
Life=Tuning culture

REMEMBER THAT

REMEMBER THAT

But ARCA stands for Always Ready to Cause Accidents and the people there dont know how to brake .

If ur not first ur last

Woot for 3 wide competition.
Haha, Thats always fun, Especially, considering, Dale Sr. DIED in a wreck,...Sorry but im not one of the people that likes wrecks,...That side i guess comes from driving myself and knowing the danger! But still not funn to watch, sends chills down my spine on some hits.

SPEED already has way, way too much of that drift and tuner BS. What SPEED Channel needs is something that actually matches its name; racing. There is very little of it on that channel now.

And Why is it BS?? It is a motorsport?? And It says speed, Not Racing Channel....

Edit: Also Come to think about it, It is about all Automotive topics, The new models of cars, and so-on, All Stuff to do with cars,... Get it right!

I've liked NOPI

But dude, more ARCA is the answer Racing there's so awesome, even if the finishes aren't always exciting its much better than what NASCAR or any sports car series can offer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wd7VCnBZH3k

8-10 cars all within 2 seconds of each other weaving around each other, how can you not love it
What the **** just happened to this thread?
