Hypercar Reasoning
I know various ferrari's etc have probably been suggested over and over, but, I wanted to put forward some reasoning. These are my reasons why we might want a hyper car variation in lfs. the improvement suggestions forum is here to keep the flood of car requests and requests for the blindingly obivous off the main forum, so if they're allowed, I hope you can tollerate this lot too:

The case for a hyper car.

I was thinking to myself should I win the lottery, I would most definately buy some sort of F430 Scuderia, or if I really won, a Reventon or a Veyron. The thing I was thinking is, you can't really race those cars, aside from a gentle cock around in a track day, because, repairing them is pretty impossible, and they cost so much, and are of such rarity and beauty, only a complete eedjit would drive it in a manor leading to its broken-ness.

So this is why they sit in museums and peoples garages etc. Fair enough.

Live for speed has no drawbacks on cars with repair/fuel/purchase costs...

I put forward the need for something around 6 litres, about 600bhp, and 500lb-ft, 1600kg ish stunning bodywork, advanced driving "aids" (read on, more stop you spinning like a top but prevent you from being more than 2s close to the pace). AWD, maximum 20% power to front wheels. With driving aids off, 100% RWD.

Once the engine modelling has been sorted, there will be naturally be a giant difference in the behaviours of the engine - one in which the experience of driving something that powerful naturally aspirated, will be truly excellent.

I was also thinking about the gadgetry present in all of these top end cars. I feel the traction control systems (road, sport, race, off) could prove a good introduction for newer drivers to fast cars with no (significant - read wings) downforce, the traction control would have to be realistic in how early it starts shuffling torque around, and we would need proper TC making use of braking individual wheels, as well as the "power cut" stuff we have now. This would allow the less competant drivers in the field to provide some small competition to the faster drivers, who can squeeze the last of the car by switch off the TC (tc probably knocking 2s off the pace on an average lap compared to the front of the pack, but allowing slower drivers to be faster than they would normally be, so they don't hold up the field).

Their light weight, massively wide tyres, and rediculous speed would breed interesting racing tactics.

We don't have a truly mid-engined car.

Lastly, there's the potential for it to look incredible. I know looks are not everything, but, if they didn't have some input, there wouldn't be any point in making the fz5 look as nice as it does. Nor would PGR4 sell as much as it does if it was using ugly cars, naff braketurn physics aside.

i'd have to disagree with this part, fast drivers are always going to be fast and slow drivers will still be slow, TC isn't going to save them

Agreed with both points. I think a truly exotic-looking, mouth-watering car would benefit LFS. BTW, what about a "civil" hypercar and its race-spec version? (think Enzo and FXX). The former could be 550-650 bhp with (optional?) traction control, while the latter is a 650-800 bhp version without driving aids. Harder to master, but faster. They could even be AWD and RWD, just like Lamborghini Murcielago street vs. R-GT versions.

So basically you want a heavy over engined four wheel drive walrus that ploughs on in oversteer?

I'd much rather a lighter RWD supercar without electronic aids.
Let me think... Exige 240R? The upcoming GT3 you say? fine with me
I'd like to see an OTT performance car in LFS, and some clever chap has already modelled a McLaren F1
Surely the car should need to have been built with track day fun in mind, not just some 500-1000bhp experiment with odd looks and all-out max speed...

Something like F40 would be perfect! Modern day supercars are heavy, too safe and come with lcd screens and butt massage devices. I have no problem with electric driving aids but only if they are made realistically. Still, I would prefer a car like F40 because it doesn't come with nanny-mode . Other cars like F40 that me accepts are the TVRs, although most of them are (said to be) awfully twitchy or some of the american hi-power cars. Something with loads of power, 5 or 6 manual gears, engine on the front or middle, rear wheel drive and 2 seats. And no slicks
Exactly^
A ridiculous 90s-style (ie pre-safety, pre-TC) ubercar would be the business. F40, McLaren F1, XJ220, Bugatti EB110 (whatever else they had in NFS in 1995 ). Stupid horsepower, proper MR layout, big fat wedge-shaped arse
The traction control is there on these monsters in real life, I figured it might be nice to have it there in LFS, I thought it might keep n00bs from spinning out on the start line while the pro's can leave it off and get on with what they do....

Lamborghini Murcielago R-GT, FXX, Veyron and Reventon were what I was thinking about while writing this thread. It just seems like every other game has some sort of nut-bar engined monster with air conditioning kicking about, and these are things I would love to own in real life, so naturally I want them in lfs.

TC was just an afterthought to make it safe to put on the track with people who haven't practiced before going online.

+1 on the 90s cars, we have a few of those in GTR form already by the looks of it though... early 90s rally cars perhaps!?

Older lighter cars are generally better, but, if you just wanted light, you'd go for a single seater or a Caterham... I love those too, but I havn't driven anything better than an f430, and I want to know what better than that is like racing!

But there is no reason having some toned down nanny car because you can't get killed in LFS. Sure it would probably turn on kids on cruise servers, but why have something lardy ass, heavy, 4WD sledge when you could have much more fun, lighter, and nimbler RWD bastard!?

There is no reason to over engineer cars in LFS because you don't have to worry about safety or drive comfort. If some sort of supercar is some day made, I reckon F40 like Hyper mentioned, would be spot on. Keep it simple.

Wouldn't mind having the LX8 either.
Something like an Xj220 would be a blast in the game.
We are getting the lx8 though...? Bob teased out some pics etc to shut up some progress requests... so we'll have our light RWD nutbar car....

There's no reason to drive the lx4 or lx6 once we have the lx8 if there's no need for "toned down nanny cars". By logical extension, anything but the BF1 with the traction control is a nanny car too.

You don't need to dish out the virtues of RWD to me, I've got one, and I kart, and they're both brilliant.

But I also watch top gear. One of the most popular shows around, and they say driving one of those things is brilliant. While I know they're not the most technical minded of people, I'm inclined to listen to someone suggesting "this is great fun".

Well, it was actually a XFG with LX6 body. But I hope he will release the program he made all the editing. That is, if he has made a program. You can already move around car bodies I think.

No, you didn't really understand what I meant with nanny cars. They are cars where computer corrects your silly human errors. BF1 with FZ5 are actually the opposite what you said, they both have TC. None of the cars in LFS has any of the driving aids modern hyper and super performance cars have, and I'm pretty sure they never will have, because in LFS, "you have to do the driving!"

Yes, my favorite porn show too. I'm not saying the cars in real life are not fun. Trashing any car around in real life has to be the most fun. But driving aids actually serve a purpose and cheat death in real life, but as said, have no purpose in LFS.

Anyway, I'm sure there will be some sort of super car in the future. With racing version of course.

A McLaren F1/Bugatti EB110 (which BTW was 4 wheel drive)/Lister Storm type class with GTR versions would be great. But a Veyron clone wouldn't go amiss either, I'd be happy with any new car, even a rideon mower.
Just three letters... SLR

(this is a car that I'd like to see in S3 btw)

I thought was a topic about hypercars, not ugly grand tourers, which the SLR undeniably is. It's not a hypercar. It's design ethos saw to that.

Interesting figures on that LX8. I guess this must have an ali V8 lump cos the weight distribution is almost 50/50. I would have thought with 300kgs of cast iron v8 engine up front it would be quite different.

Also torque figures seem low in comparison to power for this type of engine. I wonder what engine it is based on.
It's not THE LX8, but an unofficial LX8 created using a sort of LFSTweak (which won't be released). Because it's Bob's release, it's safe to assume the devs have okayed it, but it's not an official/supported car.
I would say the LX8 would be based around a Rover V8, but the RV8's are quite heavy. Although a 3.0Litre Rover V8 with a turbocharger would explain the higher RPM power and lower torque output.

Have you looked Bob's profile lately?
"Biography: LFSTweak was NOTHING. Just you wait."

If you tease, you got to deliver.

And he has been teasing a lot lately.
