Woah!!! :headbang: What a great news!

Mafia 1 was IMO the best overall game ever (except the race-sims )

Game did run like shit, it was killing hard and it ate all my HDD space and bit more, also there were few big annoyances that threw realism out from window.

Was a fun game, driving could been better, but it was enough at time. I might try version 2, at least demo if there ever will be one, maybe will get it when it comes to re release, then my machine might run it too

Quote from squidhead :I had different glitches...
all the sounds outside the bar (and outside the cutscenes)
were playing in Fast Forward mode...god those sirens were awfuly squeaky

Now that you say it... I remember to had them too, the voices were very funny, people sound like "Alvin and the Chipmunks"
My god, is it really official?!! With all these fake announcment these years, i've become paranoid, maybe some wierdo hacked in the 2K games website and made that page with screenies? I hope not..

I agree with some, Mafia was IMO THE best GAME ever! So i say game, simulations don't count..
So, Mafia 2 and GTA4... i really have to upgrade my PC this time..
Mafia 1 was maybe the best game on it's times, loved it. I'm really waiting for this one.
Yeah Mafia 2 sounds official. I too was getting fed up of the fake announcements and really last year I gave up home on a sequel but to my surprise they have been working secretly on it. The screenshots look amazing.... Mafia was the best game ever and Mafia 2 looks like it will beat that......

It will need a serious pc upgrade though.

Cool. I did enjoy Mafia but, hilarious as this is, I got stuck at the the racecar mission. After a week of trying I gave up and never played again. Shame. A little more believable car handling next time (doesn't even need to go as far as physics) and I'll be happy.

I had it too...

But after I downloaded the patch, all was fine.

The race car mission was insanely difficult, but it's worth getting past it as the rest of the game is marvellous!

I wouldn't go as far as to say Mafia was my favourite game of all time, that title falls to Deus Ex for me, but it definitely was one of the better action games released over the last few years. A sequel is very welcome news.
LOL. That race mission was easy man! 1.21.6 was my best (I installed Mafia again earlier this week). Just pass everybody in T1 and finish the race. I passed about 10 backmarkers.. :P
The race was indeed easy. Maybe he meant the mission where you had to steal the superior European GP car, drive it through the city, have it detuned in some garage and drive it back. Although that wasn´t too difficult either. I never actually finished the game. I got stuck in the hotel(or was it a brothel?) mission where you had to whack some guy and a girl(but you were in love with the girl so you let her go). I got shot by the bodyguards every time until I finally gave up.
Wow Mafia 2. I remember when I first got Mafia wayy back in the day. Great game, I loved the story line. I hope this lives up to the Mafia name. The screens look promising.

Quote from Dajmin :And is a multiplayer too much to hope for? Cause that'd be cool.

Gangster MMORGP is my wet dream

Quote from Blackout :And is dubbed in German. :P

Yeah, original Mafia starred couple of somehow known actors (at least Matt Servitto and Dan Grimaldi, both known from The Sopranos) I bet same quality follows in this sequel... so who the hell wants to buy the version starring some "Jürgen" or "Hans"? Raping movies, tv series and games sould be made illegal.

I have confidence Illusion Softworks because they have history mainly with PC (was Hidden and Dangerous 2 ever released for consoles?). I hope PC is still the main platform for this game. I claim you get better results in overall if you design the game for PC and then make it to work on consoles. It's easier to make complicated things (e.g. controls) more simplified than the other way around and PC audience is more demanding and critical.

.
Yeah, in terms of quality I'd agree, but remember developers have to make a profit, which is very hard in the games industry. If they are going for multiple platforms then it makes sense, financially, to normalise as much of the game across the different formats as possible. Unfortunately it can mean us PC gamers get the short end of the stick, but ultimately a good game is a good game, and most of the differences are just aesthetic bias across the PC/console divide.
Was listening to "Rob Dougan - Clubbed to Death" when i was looking at the screens, i almost had tears in my eyes. Now if only Max Payne 3 was officially announced with some screens, I'd be wetting all over my pillow.
I made a mod for mafia 1. I recently re-installed mafia because I loved it so much. I haven't looked the site through yet, wanted to say whiiiii woot woot here first

The race mission, download a patch. I don't know which one, but there's a patch that makes the race mission easier because they realized it was too hard.

I did install mafia too, race mission was piece of cake, also one before where you steal a car, but first mission has been toughest so far, also one where you escort girl and one after that are tough as you need to take care of other character too and that reduces possibilities.

In one mission bad guys where shooting and police did nothing, but if I did took gun from pocket they jumped to arrest me.

Also scripted events are really annoying.

Driving was better than remembered, cars should be shitty to drive fast and that those are, enough good for arcade

The game had it flaws, but I still think it's way better than GTA or Driver. I thought the driving was pretty good indeed. And the first mission, I play with my wheel, now that's difficult But hell of a lotta fun!
It was not better than Grand Theft Auto 3. Certainly not at the time, anyway. Grand Theft Auto 3 just blew everything out of the water when it came out. It felt like the future had finally arrived.

Totally not true. Mafia was thought about way better than GTA 3. GTA 3 was special because it was the first 3D GTA, but that's about it. Whenever I play GTA again now I think... Wow, this is utter crap. While I'm still happy playing mafia. The attention to detail in that game is just amazing. GTA, for me, will never top out Mafia. GTA is just a whole lot of commercial bull and most kiddies (although kiddies shouldn't be playing it :razz fall for it and still do. Kinda sad really, it's like Gran turismo, everyone likes it because it's famous, although it's crap really.

And btw, if I recall correctly, driver had 3D view first, GTA was just more famous, like I said earlier and therefore "better".

I've only played on the demo of Mafia (and ordered it straight away ) but it seems like a different game to GTA. GTAs graphics look a little bit arcadey and it doesn't really have a good sense of atmosphere, and I don't think it's meant to, the cut scenes are a bit of a joke in GTA. Mafias seems to be a different game in that the emphasis seems to have been put on creating a period feel right down to every last detail and believable cut scenes. Although the overall graphics aren't very good I think the lighting and little attention to details are superb.
Its only really GTA with Manual gears and Speed Limiter?

Loved Mafia 1, my brother will by Mafia II tho im sure, so ill just poach his gaffa
I installed Mafia 1 again last night. I made it as far as the walking home with the chick mission then had to take a brake. The graphics aren´t really that good but everything else is excellent. It´s really kind of a movie-game if you know what I mean. The cutscenes are part of the charm of the game. In most games I just skip them. The music is good too, helps setting the athmosphere. I think the cars handle ok. There are some nice touches as in if you bend the wheel the whole car starts vibrating and wheels can come off etc. Most cars are bloody slow though. Made it through the racecar mission in my third go, rolled the car and got killed in the first two attempts. The key to take it easy and not push too hard.

.... wow I sound like a fanboy... oh well....
