New NVIDIA drivers for XP - seems to increase performance
Hi,

I have just downloaded new drivers 94.24 from NVIDIA for Windows XP/2000 and I noticed FPS increase in LFS like 10-20 percent. To be honest I was suprised seeing that.

Geeting for exaple from wheel view without mirrors and in single player 200-300FPS on Aston track and 200-340 on Westhill. Resoltuion 1024*768,4xAA + 16AF.Same results at 1280*1024 but its CRT and I dont want my eyes to suffer at 60Hz.
which card?

I have the identical card, and i have the same drivers (but the XTremeG versions), try 8xAA, you still get a good FPS at the start and the rest of the time you'll be bouncing off vSync
6800 GS

1280x1024 on TFT@75Hz
4xAA
16xAF

Single Player at Westhill with wheel view and mirrors on
With the 94.24 drivers I just noticed that sometimes the highest FPS rate goes up (just for a sec.) to ~225 and with the old drivers (93.71) I only had the highest FPS rate @ ~205.
The rest feels still like before FPS goes up and down and up and down from ~160 to ~205

hmmm, seems i'm on the "old" 94.20's, time to upgrade
Downloaded latest driver last night and just installed it after reading this - 158.22.. was using 97.xx prior to that,. I'm on 8800, so it's different (and weird) versions going on here :P

I always use same MPR's and FRAPS to do benchmarks - latest driver for me is 3% faster.. meh.

Not disappointed though - my 8800 GTS cares very little about GFX/AF/AA quality. I get same fps no matter quality and resolution. Except 2048, where it drops with about 5 fps
Updating now for my ancient AGP 5700 FX.

I was on 93.71, wonder what these will do.

*will update post once installed*

^^^ i tried installing them on my FX5700.......said i didnt have a graphics card and quit the installation. so im back on 93.xx

Well that makes ME feel a little better I'm using a 5900 FX. I'm running guru3d's 97.46 on Vista. For the most part I'm at the vsync ceiling during a race, except for a little choppiness on the start grid.

Unfortunately, I believe nvidia is phasing out support for these old relics. I don't really expect a new driver version until I upgrade my card.

Yeah I've had the same problem. So i'm trying the 93.81 Drivers, which is a tiny update from the .71 I was on.

But does anyone know why it doesn't work for our cards? On the Drive download page it says that the Geforce FX 5700 card is supported with the new drivers. But they don't work?

Help?

EDIT:

93.81 Beta drivers now installed. Just restarting..
As I have ready now there are only supported officially 6&7 series in this drover set.

When you modificate .inf file it works fine with the rest of the card.

Believe? They have been always, and its very annoying, after about 2 years after the card is out they just drop support for it completely which is annoying because tons of people still own those cards. It's possible that the card is at its optimum performance, but that is hard to believe.
xcnuse i think the cards have reached potential , i think its software thats not reaching its potential.

What i find most annoying is the dropping of a unified package. Seems ATI do much better at that now imo.

blame microsoft for that one
so you guys think 200FPS is bad? Try 47FPS MAX!

I run a 5200FX, and ususaly get around like, 20fps during a race, and sometimes as low as 12!

This is a hopeless try to get someone to ship me a better AGP card they might have lying around...
I won about 200 points in 3DMark05 with 94.24 forceware drivers, but they were very unstable, I suffer from Windows blue screen errors once and again. I reinstalled 93.71 and now is perfect.

PD: 2x7600GT SLI Bios modded to 600/1650Mhz with Zalman VF700 Al-Cu on both cards
Yes i noticed i get more fps now with the same drivers and a gefroce 7300GT.
lol i must be doing something wrong here... I have 2x7800GT on SLI and did an FPS test on Aston with no AI (same resolution as the guy in the 1st post: 1024x768 / 4xAA / 16xAF). No V-Sync and i could only top 170 fps? weird... Maybe my processor is the bottleneck (Athlon 64 X2 Dual core 3800+), cause i get the exact same fps with 1600x1200 @ 100Hz / 8xAA / 16xAF.

Something's not right then.

Im getting over 180FPS at Aston with everything up in game, hi res textures/skies

1155x864 /4*aa, 16*af, v-sync off , Atlon64 3200 ,6800GS, 1 gig ocz.

I use the highly recommended NGO modded(based on the 97.92 nvidias) drivers...Better quality and performance for me over the stock nvidias.

Thats really weird.
I have almost the same processor but only single core.Well for LFs it really doesnt matter how many cores you have it can utilize only one of them.

Mine is running at 2Ghz.Sometimes SLI doesnt work well and might even cause a FPS drop so try to test it without SLI.Also be aware that 7800GT is slower then 7900GT.7800GTX is same fast as 7900GT.
