New object to prevent cutting corners
I was just reading the "Cutting Corners" thread on CTRA subforum and thought that such object like this (attachment) would be very useful to prevent from cutting corners. It's immobile so nothing flies around when somebody hits it (like stack of titres).

Or just a nice patch of static caltrops. There won't be any more cutting.

Nah, land mine FTW
Well, if there were a higher percentage chance of getting a flat tire by overly aggressive curb-hopping, it would decrease it except for qualifying and last lap duels.

Plus, flat tires lead to gradual slowing, rather than having a car instantly STOP right in front of you while racing.
Just not the tyre barriers, I'm posting in the commerical break of the BTCC highlights (I don't want to fund Rupert Murdoch and I can't get cable where I live) and they are causing carnage at Croft, JP might start just clipping the tyres so the guy behind him gets a tyre shaped dent in their bumper, taking out the radiator in the process

Even if it didn't decrease it, it would add a realism that would be great fun - like you said, in qualifying and the final laps does a driver want to risk blowing out their tire for hopping onto the curbs?
The grass just needs to be more rough and uneven. If you fly over the grass, you should get bumped around more.
-1 from me. Im pretty sure these would create more of an obstacle, due to the fact that it could cause the car to spin into the track after hitting these "stopping cones"

Edit: Also, i agree with wheel4hummer, the grass should be more uneven, not smooth as glass.

Sweet graphics, what game is that from?

I'm not sure I understand really. Is this cone supposed to be immobile as in you hit it head-on and your car stops dead? Otherwise I can only see it being useful to prevent cutting in hotlaps or something. I don't get how it would be more effective than a flying cone really, maybe just a little less annoying to the party that hasn't hit it
Well, it doesn't fly everywhere. Can slow you down and inflict body/radiator/splitter/wing damage. Acts as a visual deterrent. Can be made to invalidate hotlaps or qualifying laps. Yet doesn't overly punish spinning cars or cars that outbrake themselves.

+1
Equip the orange guys with snipers

On topic: I like the idea

Motion-Triggered Miniguns that shoot your car, revoke your s2 license, bans you from the forums, and deletes the porn off your computer.

Cutting Corners = Pwned.

Yeah, I'd rather have tires that are knocked away, because some stupid glitch and you fly off the track with no chance of winning, and then you hit someone else.

And the grass IS a bit too smooth, I never thought of that ..
What about making bollards that flatten when hit then spring back like IRL. They prevent much damage to the car, don't fly about and you could quite easily set an automatic penalty for hitting one.
higher the whole curb by about 2 foot ftw

nah, some tracks the curbs feel awsome for cutting and are made to be cut.

but cuts as in going streight across the grass all 4 wheels, then i think there should be some sort of ramp, a bit like the bumps actually on the curbs at KY but bigger, or more of the ky ramps to stop cutting, or rough land with bumps and elevation on the corners where your cutting alot of the track to cheat.
Cemented stones behind the curbs?
Why not just add it into LFS rules?

Cut the track/a chicane once (per 20 laps?), get a warning.
Cut it a second time, get a penalty.

and

if you cut the track and gain a position within +/- 5 seconds of the cut, you have to yeild that position within a lap or get a drive through, even if you didn't have a warning.

it sounds complicated but it should be able to be done without being exploitable.
