Moviemaker stops responding...
As many others I use fraps to capture video from LFS and then import it into Moviemaker. With my old AMD 2400+, this worked like a charm, but with my new AMD Dual Core 5200+ it hangs and stops responding. Same version fraps, same version WindowsXP and same resolution.

Anyone has any idea what causes this? Is there another (free) tool to turn videos captured with fraps into useable size and formats?

I recommend VurtualDubMod or Nandub. Together with the xvid codec you can make some decent movies.
Windows Movie Maker probably isn't multi-threaded, Vdub and stuff can be good to convert AVI's, but Premiere or Sony Vegas would be decent softwares to actually combine thems.

Is this why it freezes up?

Does it freeze up when your doing a big project??

Or when you try to add transitions?
