The manufacturers don't want to advertise it but under EU law a car manufacturer has to recognize a service from a reputable private garage. Although they try very hard to not let customers realise you can service elsewhere and keep your warranty valid.

that maybe true with some manufacturers but with the evo you have the problem of active yaw control which has to be serviced by ralliart trained technicians, only they have the equipment to bleeed the system properly failing to do this right will result in a new pump £2000, it has 2 types of oil in 3 places you can do 2 but not the third at home (i know i did mine). and there is no way that i would take a high performance car to some cheap garage for them to stick shit oil in, if i did'nt want to do the service my slef then id take it to a specialist tuner

This has been a major issue for private garages recently. The EU has actually done something useful in stopping manufacturers deliberately designing cars that need special machinery to service them that isn't widely available at a sensible price. I really can't see any reason why a skilled engineer cannot bleed and replace this oil system, if he has the right oil then what can possibly be the issue other than the design of the car, again I'm not talking about the cheapest of the cheap here.

Do not take your car to a cheap garage, a decent private garage will tell use genuine parts (and tell you when they don't) and they will change the oil when they tell you they have (plenty of stories of main dealers not doing such basic things from people I trust) and the oil they put in will be as good if not higher grade than what a main dealer claims to use. Taking a standard Evo to a specialist tuner is a waste of money, they will do as good a job as a general garage but will often take ages (they aren't geared to servicing) and will charge more than a main dealer.

Like I said there are two types of general garages, good ones and bad ones. Some do crap work and charge less than the parts should cost others charge a sensible price and do excellent work. The best way to find them in your area is by hearsay customers generally keep coming back for life and they tend to be overflowing.

In short it's bullshit that a general garage is going to be crap some are, some are far better than main dealers or for servicing an everyday mass-produced road car cheaper and no worse than a specialist. If you want to continue to pay for the privilege of paying £100 an hour for labour then go to a main dealer.

you need to operate (spin) the diff underload and bleed the system, trust me only ralliart places have the equipment, its not like bleeding brakes
I can't believe how people's tastes can be sooo different..
I mean, to me, this car looks absolutely amazing..

That makes life interesting my friend

The Evolution X is basically what happens when you cross breed a rally car and a supercar whlilst inheriting their more positive traits.

Oh, those 18 inch wheels are meant for pure tarmac only. This is no different form current WRC which uses 18 inch diameter wheels as well. At least they could actually use wider tires on the Evo this time and do an even better job of bringing the chassis alive.

To squash a myth once and for all, no, 4WD does NOT magically add grip. Grip is a funcion of the tires and how they are loaded. 4WD does however allow the potential to make maximum use of the car's available driving force by doing what 2 wheels alone can NEVER achieve. An ideal 4WD system would allow the use of power distribution to achieve ultimate cornering balance on all phases of cornering, optimizing lateral grip and tractive force. The ACD and AYC on the current EVO XI already come cose to this, with only the front diff out of the equation (helical LSD). If only it had AYC in FRONT them it would be complete once the settings are all done. Of course, a fully electric car with one drive motor per wheel and fully computerized electronic power proportioners and speed controllers would be the ultimate 4WD, but that is another story.

Oh, if both a 4WD car and a 2WD car were given excellent snow tires, the 4WD wins hands down. Assuming that all else is equal of course (both have good suspension, brakes, decent power, etc). Transmitting 300hp to the ground on snow with 2WD is sheer futility if you intend to make full use of it. Unless of course your car is anything that remotely resembles something roadable.

Conclusively, I judge cars based on what they are and what they intend to achieve, without any chauvunistic baggage. I'm a person who would like a car if it is what it should be.

True but a 4WD system is heavier and far less efficient than an equivalent RWD system and will therefore usually not be an advantage on track except in powerful cars.

A 4WD can be RWD too, just ask Audi about their very early times
@Your statement: true, but earlier 4wd was quite an advantage despite of the power-loss, because RWD-cars weren't as sophisticated as today
Quote from frenchy0204 :is it me or do the front headlights have an essence of the 2005 subaru legacy about them?

must be you O.o
But to a certain point they do:

The front reminds me of a Skyline >.>

Looks like Skyline gone wrong at the front to me, I'm not a fan of this new trend of vertical grills either.

Another good point about carbs is, they do what you want them to do, because it isn't just electrics. I don't trust all these eletric gadgets. They are just parts which can break and are much more difficult to replace

I did mention that proper fuel injection setup sounds as good as carbs, those stock Efi systems just sounds crap.

Electrics are fine if they are made properly and if you need to replace something you just take old part out and put new in.

This is big difference between people that have used to carbs and which have not, people new to carbs feel that those are somekind magical parts where is nothing exact, it feels like device that does use luck as one of parameters, especially if it is called Solex Cisac, I hate that thing at least.
But when you know how it works, what things are needed to know and check etc, those are doing their job just fine between adjustment and service.
Nooooo it's four-doored.... *Cries in disappointment* T_T sobsob....

*Wipes tears away*

This lancer looks so much like the Audi R8 and S4 and the new Volvo 3-door hatchback *Forgot it's name*. The fronts of cars these days are becoming more repetitive... not that it's a bad thing, it DOES look very nice

Looks like an Audi with genetic defects. Embarassing. Almost as embarassing as the new Evo.

What's this, from that rather short tempered post I guess it's an Evo concept car. I walked passed it at the Autosport show thinking it was Prodrive's latest attempt to style a car, fails completely IMO.
maybe it was a little short tempered but to many ppl on here who have know idea what their talking about and cant be bothered to read the post's. sorry
Sigh... he just dosent understand...
