ALLMOUST got into real racing: VW Funcup: Here is the story
I went with my father to Circuit-Zolder when there was a happening were u can do test-drives simulators etc., so i saw a VW FUNCUP car behind a screen and saw Rfactor with the VW FUNCUP mod, so i got in line and if u drove the fastest time u could win 1 race (last race in Spa-Francorchamps) in the VW FUNCUP. So i did the fastest lap (dunno it anymore
) and i had to fill in a paper with all my information but i NEVER got any mail of the orginizers because u have to do a "kart-test" with other people who had a fast time. So i went to the karttrack (1 weekend before the "test") and i drove a very quick time!, one of the best. But i never got any mail of the guys 
. But the prob is (atleast i think that) i'm 14 years old, but experianced, but still stupid that they didn't send a mail, even to say that i'm to young i would understand that but ill try again next year 
Now I still drive karting in our indoor-kartteam every wednesday in Meeuwen-Gruitrode, Racelandkart for the Belgian and Dutch people
and my nickname is Scrabby also there.

Scrabby, there is a legal requirement for racers (holding an MSA licence anyway) to be over 16. If I'm wrong I'm sure someone will correct me
A mate (who raced Caterhams and is in the UK D1 Drift series now) and I talked seriously about the FunCup, but at the time I had no cash so we didn't do it. We'd talked about doing one or two 'arrive & drive' races in the series, cost was around £2,500 I think.

i know it about the "16-year limit" but if the guys just let me do the karttest i would be happy to know how skilled i am against mature people
but the arrive and drive i saw that to but this time u could do it for free (i guess) and that were the 25-hours of the VW FUNCUP and u would go there with the 5 fastest people of the kartingtest

but we have 2 oldtimers: BMW 1602 1 with 4 gears and a BMW 1602S with 5 gears and with the one with 4 gears my dad wants to make a racecar of it 
I'm driving kart in the gtc ( longrun series ) with 340ccm - 390 ccm 4 stroke karts and I'm driving for the german national team ( longrun series )

Raced karts for 3 years starting in Cadets then to TKM and after that went into Jnr Rotax Max. Did fairly well finishing 3rd in the club championship in Cadets and Rotax. Best year was my Rotax Max year, spent so little money compared to my TKM year and was faster than the person who was crowned Scottish Champion
This year I did a couple of non licensed races in some of the GX200 Prokarts. Finished second* in the series but missed a round. Only one person completed the three rounds
It's quite funny watching the TV, especially seeing the support races of the BTCC and seeing names I used to race against.
My Dad used to do hillclimbs and has been very keen on getting back into it next year. He is working hard trying to get the money together so we will see, if we do manage to get a car together we will most likely double enter it. Hoping to find an unfinished kitcar or one in need of work (should be cheaper) and we'd like to fit a hayabusa engine but that's out of the price bracket, hopefully we will fit some form of bike engine though.
*- to be confirmed, the points haven't been updated but I can't see anyone else taking it. I had brilliant last round taking 2 wins and 2 seconds.

Karting karting and karting... Are there really so few people who do proper racing?
Well, to fill this post with at least some sense: I've got a cockpit seat for two races in germany next year in a Porsche 944S. That's why I lately did my race driver's license qualification course. I did it in a E30 318i, not the fastest car on earth.
Though it was lots of fun because it was raining slightly. It was quite enjoyable to chuck it around. 200km open track driving is quite a lot for a qualification course test.

So what do you call a 250 SuperKart then? Something which as Niki pointed out in another thread could lap quicker than F1 car in the early 90s? 0-60 = 3.5seconds, 80+bhp, top speed 160+mph.
I just have to laugh when I see these sort of things said about kart racing. For someone who claims to have a race seat for 2 events next year this sort of comment is quite surprising, but I'm gathering you've either won a competition, got very lucky or have lots of money so didn't step up the ladder. Most proffesional drivers praise karting for the driving skills it teaches and how that's where they learnt the fundamentals of racing and car control.
The amount of cornering Gs felt in a kart is more than a lot of low end single seaters which shows the tyres are very developed sticky compounds. 125 Gearbox hit 90mph on the straight up here and bare in my mind these aren't huge circuits, now if that's not proper racing what the hell is? Cadet drivers (8-12 years of age) are lapping quicker than the guys in there expensive sprint cars who miss out the tightest part of the track
My Dad has done all sorts of racing going from hillclimbs, sprints and karting being the main three. Out of them all he still rates 210 gearbox to be an absolute blast and probably the most awesome machine he has ever driven. He also points out to people that you get a heck of a lot for your money in kart racing when you compare it to car racing and half the time get far closer and better racing.
When most people talk about karting theyare not talking about the little Honda gene engined things you've probably only ever driven with super hard tyres

I do a few track events each summer. Looking forward to running Watkins Glen next summer, as well as Virginia International, and Summit Point.
I might be the only person here whose race car is also their daily driver. Fully stripped, yet still street legal.

Isnt 160mph far too dangerous for karts? I sure wouldnt like to crash at that speed in a kart =/

Never seen a Ford Taurus (though in black I have visions of it being used by the FBI ). Cool to have a race car !!
Please ease up on the anti-karging comments, it IS a proper motorsport and takes a great deal of skill. The only karts I've been in are the lawnmower powered indoor things, not the real ones which I'd love a go in.

Ive Raced in 2 Race Classes.
Junior Rods - Consisted of either 1.0 Liter nova's or Fiesta's (Now allowing corsa's with 1.0 liter transplants), they were total bog standard, only mod allowed was an official K&N Air filter on the carb. i raced 3 Nova's in this, was doing quite good.
Now i race GT Rods, which is any 1.4 8v Carbed car that is front wheel drive. mods allowed are the passenger side leg cambered, Locked Diff, Lightweight Flywheel and Pulleys, Air Filters and Timing adjustment. havnt been doing any good in this series yet, as the Locked Diff needs alot of getting used to without being pulled into the armco
