My friend used to live in America. He said that alot of people though that as soon as you cross the border its like the arctic. Alot of people think we all live in igloos. The only people that do are the 5 that live in the Yukon. That is all.

This is totally off-topic, didn't read the thread except this. Thanks for this link!! I had to move my room downstairs, but in my new room there isn't any cable yet, so the only things I have been watching lately on my telly is top gear from youtube! Now I look at this website I'm gonna watch a whole lot of simpsons, futurama and family guy, got some catching up to do!!

To the Canadians... Red Green Rules!!! LOL Alot of American TV shows are
done in Vancouver. Oh Fonny Bone? If you're of French ancestry here in the US, Especially in the South West, You're an Anglo. If you're Russian, German, Irish or Italian, You're an Anglo.

Oh and where I live There are a few Cajuns here, But they don't speak French.

I was out for a drive the other day and a bear ran out infront of me. And I have encountered bears while hiking on a couple of occasions. The first time I saw a bear, it was standing on our deck about three feet away (fortunately we were inside the house looking out onto the deck...).

Fortunately, being right on the west coast we don't have the stereotype of getting 6 feet of snow. It snows maybe once a year down here and usually only a couple of inches. This past week it's been really nice out and over 20 degrees C...

Wow, very nice A little hot for me though (over 15 C is too hot for me most of the time). Last time I Was out west was Xmas 04 I think, and we got loads of snow out there in Vernon, BC. Although, at the same time I hear southern ontario got bombed with snow too. Glad I wasn't here for that. Our drivers are bad enough in the dry weather...

People here have enough trouble when it starts raining...the first rain in a couple of weeks and the greasy roads send people flying in all directions. Don't even ask about snow.... :P

And about Canadians with accents...I have one. But then I did only move over here from England when I was 16

If that's the case we'd be speaking Canadian, and not English. Though that said I was told I have a very Canadian sounding accent, but I'm from the midlands, which means I have a neutral accent, not really posh and snobby like the southereners, and not really common and ack like the northereners. So maybe Canadian's are midlanders, as such have a neutral accent.

The interesting thing I've found with accents...Canadian accents sound normal to me now, and whenever I hear someone with an English accent (other than myself and my family, I'm used to their accents of course!), I go "they've got an accent!", or "listen to the silly way they talk". And people give me a weird look because that's how I talk too....

Something else I remembered...when I first moved here and people mentioned my accent and the words I used. So I would respond by telling them the language is English (as you would!) and that's what I speak, and also that we're in British Columbia, and I'm British. If none of those worked I'd have to pull out the "who's on your coins!". All in good fun of course

I love British and Australian accents. Except in small children. Kids with accents freak me out... reminds of some horror movie or something :eek:

Speaking of coins, I lost my loonie and toonie The only Canadian cash I had just because of the name. I need to go there just to get some more. XD

The loonie was funny... but it was named after the loon. (The bird, not some quack who thought of it) The toonie was just stupid imho. Talk about a joke name :P

I liked them just because of the names, I am aware that the loon is named after the bird on it, I'm not like totally pudits.
