The online racing simulator
Well, I'm not on RSC and it won't let me download the .pdfs as a guest... So can someone please upload these .pdfs here? They should be on page 37, post 921 and 922... Thx
Quote from Tweaker :I never thought I'd have a handbrake for rallycross, and pulling back the sequential stick is perfect for that

thats something i miss on the g25 shifter ... a handbrake they couldve at least put one easy to reach button on it
is there a way to remove the click sound when you shift? i mean, if it's something thats only there to notify you when you have changed gear, it should be easy to remove or what?

The "click" is a "designed in" function and not an add on. It is intended to provide audio and some physical feedback for each shift.
Wow, thanks for the extensive comparison Tweaker. I agree the clamp style on the GPL shifter wasn't very thought out, i know it was because it was originally designed for the RS wheel, but still..they coulda spent at least 5 mins thinking about it. Amount of times I've caught my knuckle on that silly clamp..

It wasn't too hard to be fast with the GPL shifter, I put a different gearknob on it that shortened the throw somewhat (shaft went a good inch further into the gearknob), I actually liked it a lot after a bit of pratice, but sold my ACT Labs kit as an "all in one" solution thats easier to transport and wire up is better for me at the moment.

Vertical springy feeling..I'm used to that, my old Escort had a pushdown reverse and the spring for that was a bit "tired". No big deal in my opinion as loads of cars use this system.

I do use the shifter almost exclusively though, ever since I first made a joystick based one I've not enjoyed using the paddles anywhere near as much. Only time I use them is in the single seaters for obvious reasons. I got so used to my old shifter/clutch setup, I smashed most of my pb's with it, and came pretty close to a couple of WR's at times.

Once I've had mine a few days I might have it apart and see if it can be modified relatively easy for more spring tension/feel. Will have to see what its like when it gets here. I'm guessing you can't just fit a rubber mold under it to make it feel more solid, because it moves vertically.

Handbrake..I have the assembly out my old Audi 90 to one day built into a proper one with a joystick..will be easy to do, heck 2 cableties, a spare RC spring and a peice of wood would do it, but, how do you mount a real handbrake, without using a cockpit that I don't have the space for? Maybe its time to destroy a small bookcase and modify it to act as a "center console" for the shifter, and handbrake..

Quote from Tweaker :I owned the ACT Labs shifter, but sold it on Ebay. I actually did think it was a good shifter, I just didn't like some parts about it. For one the throw of the Act Labs shifter is a lot larger, and the gates were a bit deep so that you kind of had to be "casual" when using the GPL shifter. Being fast with the GPL shifter... well it was possible, but I just found it to be a bit strange. On top of that, the shifter came with a long metal bracket that looked like a ruler, and you clamp it on with a small vice grip included illepall. Hah, when I actually got the GPL shifter shipped to me, I thought I had left a vice grip out on my bed.... because I had one almost just like the one they gave me. So I was confused "how it got there" lol. But I later found out (to my dissapointment), that the shifter was clamped on with such a poor design. But the new one I never owned, and that has a new clamp system and better internals parts.

If you owned a Act-Labs shifter and wheel you will find that that metal ruler thing u talk about actually went under the act-labs wheel to when you clamped the wheel down you were also clamping the shifter. Great and sterdy idea if you ask me but the shifter was a little flimsy and flexed alot. But it did come with different shifter plates and that was great for other games like nascar that only have 4 gears.
I put that bar under my red momo, and that wasn't that great. It still was able to be pulled off and it wasn't latched onto the table very well. The design of the Act Labs shifter (old one) was really poor.

The G25 shifter has got the desk/edge clamps AND the support underneath which prevents the base of the shifter to be twisted up and down from stress. It is designed quite nicely.
Logitech G25
Logitech G25 at www.dabs.com for £150.99 inc vat anyone know any cheaper anywhere else.

Thanks
i emailed the place i get most of my hardware from (scan computers)
ive been intouch with sales, and they promise to notify me asap regarding stock&price.

Dabs are good usually, a bit more expensive, but im gonna wait till its in stock properly i think, maybe see if price changes.
Thanks Gener

Cant wait to get my hands on the G25
Only 5 days according to Gameseek. Wait for it to get to 3 days, then watch it get pushed back another 2 weeks like last time Hopefully not though, the rest of the world is slowly getting theirs so we should have ours soon
Yeah lol my motherboard went tits up the weekend, be just my luck for my G25 to arrive before my new motherboard.
If Gameseek doesn't push it back, I might cancel my current order and buy it from them. D: I hate waiting.
You guys tried the G25? I've heard it's meant to be good but I'm a bit unsure about whether to just buy it and hope that for £150 you can't go wrong... man no wonder i have no money left Although to keep on topic :P I have seen this wheel for £190, even £200, so £150 does seem like a damn tasty price
Heh, I hate waiting that much I've checked all the local gaming shops and check Gameseek at least once a day.
Sure is a good price I am sure we can get it a bit more cheaper
Dabs.com is the cheapest I've seen it in the UK..except for some small shop no-ones heard of on froggle which is £141 + postage. I wouldn't expect it to come down much for quite a while either.
I originally put my order in at dabs, at the time it said 5-7 days, i enquired and the following day it shot up to 4+ weeks!

Now i've seen these guys..... http://www.digitalkingdom.co.u ... etailsL4.ASP?ref=31903660

Never heard of them before but they have a 2 week lead time. So i'm thinking of switching my order. However, i don't know the company and i may find Dabs do infact get them instock in two weeks too.
I have also contacted Gameseek. I was the first one from there to order one as i asked the guy Steve from gameseek to put it up for sale so i can preorder it....Its already been put back from there and i really hope it does not happen again. He said to me its hard to get hardware out the door like games and there is no release date for it and he said they are waiting on logitech to send the wheels. I did also tell him that others are starting to get there wheels now and he was shocked by this so i sent him links to the like of dell who say 24hour etc so i hope they start pushing logitech now because i preorderd mine a while back now and i dono how long my dfp will hang on for as its on its way out.
i have tried this wheel and absolutely love it!

mind you i have only played gtr2 because its my mates computer and wheel,(i have convinced about 2 other friends to get the wheel and play lfs though so its all good )

the immersion you get when having to clutch and change gears is so much better than dfp paddles :P

force feedback is much better than dfp

i only got my dfp in july, now i need a g25!

im trying to find a wheel in perth western australia
but no stores seem to have one yet illepall

i just thought id post in this thread with my opinion of the wheel after 10 mins of play, hope it helps some people.

quick question to g25 owners:
whats richard burns rally like??
I have my DFP since christmas last year, and now I want a G25. My parents and my gf will shoot me down for it. I looked around a bit, everywhere near my place I would have to wait 2 weeks, but I can handle that. The weird thing is, one shop doesn't know what a G25 is (while it's on the distributor list from logitech), another store I didn't contact, one store sells it for 280 euros, while another store (which I'm going to choose from if the other ones don't answer), will sell it for 227 euros!

They'll really kill me after I bought a new cell just for fun

Try these stores, their warehouse has had stock for over a week. And these also have access to stock.

RBR is great with the G25, you'll build some new muscles though.
