It does not matter.......
1) DX10 games will not be common until Vista is common otherwise companies will not get their investment back.
2) DX10 requires Vista. If you are happy to give ALL control of your computer to MS, RIAA and MPAA then you NEED to read what "trusted computing" actually means. WAKE UP
3) The Halo in game shots looks worse than the detail in Q3 which leads me to believe the others are renders. Halo is a MS game so you would expect that to look stunning but it does not?
We have discussed the pros and cons in the last 5 pages. I hope you understood when i wrote, i dont want to make advertisment of dx10... nor windows or what so ever.
Only to point out the stunning graphics. And i think that even you can´t say, that they are not good.

With games starting to really take advantage of DX9 now, I think modern games can already look fairly stunning. OK still a way short of photographic, but convincing enough.

The Flight Sim comparison was done by the team as a static representation of what they felt could be achieved with DX10. I agree the water looks very good and you probably couldn't do that with DX9. But there are great DX9 cloud shots of FS around the web, which the 1st comparison photo doesn't show off at all.

2nd, the face comparison is just ridiculous. First image, they cranked the detail level way down, no anti-alaising. If you want to see what DX9 can do with faces, lookey here...

i gotta say that dx10 water does look nice ... ive always felt that water on dx9 and below looked crappy way too much reflection and too smooth ... as if that thing thats supposed to be an ocean was actually a small glass of water
damn i only wish my games would run smooth on linux too... it's just that what's holding me back... ofcourse all the free apps presuaded me to linux (which ever distro you choose) openoffice gimp etc etc, why let yourself be ripped of by microsoft

For me performance is key, I'm always looking for that extra 2 fps. Too bad I also enjoy loading everything up with higher-res textures!

Yes and no. Now I've had it for 3 years I feel like shaving it off will be a change, also since I've gone from 18 to 21 my face should look a bit older by itself anyway. Half my mates tell me to get rid of it, the other half say it suits me and I should keep it. I suppose if I do shave it off it'll be back in a few weeks anyway if I get reminiscent.
From a women point of view, if they can't put up with a beard I can't imagine they'd be able to put up with me anyway, so that's a non-issue.

There's something else I don't like about that "improved" model either but I can't quite put my finger on it. They did take a few liberties, that's for sure. I haven't played Half Life 2 for ages and I never tried the Fake Factory stuff, but I agree that in Ep1 she looks a lot better, even if she seems a bit too saturated in HDR glow most of the time. And some of the things they plan to add to the Source engine (I read on Wikipedia) sound amazing. Source and Crysis will be head to head into DX10 days
