This is Crashmaaas !!! - the X-mas derby event 2022

Got some rage after a race?
Are you mad to someone?
Want to put your anger on someone to see his car upside down?
Want to release some steam while racing?
Or you are just naturally aggressive driver but all events too soft for you?

Well,here is your solution,because
This is CRASHMAAAS !!!
the 12th annual X-mas derby event 2022
Monday, 26th december, 18:00 UTC / 19:00 CET / 20:00 EET

They say it's cheaper by dozen, this year the count reaches dozen, but the costs are getting further away from being cheap as there are plenty of wrecked XRGs in the past. Does this change anything? Not at all,as the crashhappy people keep returning with new cars,so for the 12th time - Race [un]Green Events presents: the chance to take your 140 horsepower rear wheel drive XR GT and don't feel sorry if you happen to destroy it - because this is an event where you have a risk to get your car finished before crossing the finish line. The event will have only few basic rules regarding behaviour on track, otherwise - feel free to impress your opponents physically, divebombing and P.I.T. maneuvers more than welcome! Event will consist from different parts - qualifying, where each driver just sets his laptimes to decide starting places, heats, where the fight starts to get physical for the chance for final, the final, where best will be decided and a bonus run, where everyone will get a final chance to let out rage on masses!

The event starts 18:00 UTC / 19:00 CET / 20:00 EET with hotlap qualifying, everyone who wants to take part, should be in server before the start of it,but arrival deadline is 20 minutes after start of qualifying (it's the minimum lenght of it),everyone who comes later will be able just to watch and take part only in bonus run - noone without qualifying will be allowed to take part in main event.

Fern Bay is and stays the LFS true classic,so it seems we will never leave this place! Bullring V3 is still the place to be,also this year we'll use the very same layout as several years before and probably few years after.

The track surface is 99% grass (not that the 1% of tarmac would make much difference anyway),one lap is 330 meters long and width variates from 10 to 20 meters and it even has a slight elevation! Layout file can be found as attachment from one of previous year's threads and in server, feel free to have practice runs to be familiar with track or just store the layout for own needs.

Now some information about the parts of this event:

Qualifying:

The hotlap qualifying will be used here. Every driver will have 1 outlap and 2 timed hotlaps, the best lap counts as per standart LFS qualifying. The order will be decided by connection list - from top to bottom, late joiners will have a chance for their run after initial order. Each driver will receive 2 simple commands from race administration:
[drivername] - join - driver joins and stops his car right before entry of track (right before the yellow line)
[drivername] - go! - driver enters the track for his qualifying run
Everyone else is expected to stay in spectators until called for his run! To speed up things,we will run 2 cars on track at same time. Track is just over 20 seconds long, this means cars will have around 10 seconds between them,so noone should disturb other driver normally. But in case someone spins and loses a lot of speed,he is expected to allow other driver to pass in case he is near behind!
Qualifying will determine starting order for most of runs!

Heats:
Heats will be 10 laps long and will be used to determine drivers eligible for the final. Heat run amount and levels (as semifinal or quarterfinal) will depend from number of drivers taking part, but every heat will be run with no more than 8 drivers, best 2 finishers atomatically qualifies for next level (final or semifinal),except the last chance run where more drivers could start if needed and it will be just 6 laps long!
For example - if there are 13-24 drivers, all will be divided into 3 heats (from qualifying results - 1st in heat 1,2nd - heat 2,3rd - heat 3,4th - heat 3,5th - heat 2,6th - heat 1,7th - heat 1,etc). Best 2 from each heat qualifies for final, the rest will run in last chance run for remaining 4 postions in final.
If there are more than 24 drivers, the first round of heats will determine best 18 to take part in semifinal heats which will be run just like in example.

NOTE - before leaving unhappy after first failure,it's worth to remember that everyone will have 2 chances to qualify for next round! So if you fail to make next round during your quarter- or semifinal heat, you'll have another chance in relegation/last chance run! For better understanding, here is a simple chart that shows idea of advancing through heats (drivers and heat count are subject to change from amount of atendees)

The final:
The final is the run where the event official winner will be decided - it will be 20 laps long and only best 10 drivers through qualifying and heats will be able to fight for bragging rights! The starting order will be decided partially from heats and qualifying - for example if there were 3 heats, all 3 heat winners will start from top 3 places, order for that will be determined by qualifying results, all 3 heat 2nd place finishers will take 4th-6th places on start with same ordering, last chance run qualifyers will be ordered just by qualifying results.

The Bonus run:
It's the ultimate carnage - everyone in server will be able to take part in this 20 lap run,the best part - starting order will be random,so you could only blame LFS randomizer for a bad starting position. As usually bonus run will have some new layout additions, some a bit experimental, some pretty much classic, some might put you out of race, some will help you to put others out.
As always the official part of the event ends with finish of Bonus run,but the afterparty will continue as long there are crashhappy drivers in server - 10 lap races on the Bonus run track just for fun, where we will allow all cars (including mods),so this year the afterparty might be even more interesting than previously!

Even this is a almost rule-free event on track while racing, the event format asks some tough admining,so everyone is expected to behave in server and follow admin's instuctions and these guide lines:

Starting of a run:

Everyone will be simply gridded in default formation - 1st position is on left side,2nd in middle and 3rd - on right side of each row.
Make sure you don't jump the start as LFS will either give you DT/SG penalty or even spectate you - penalty will be replaced by 1 lap penalty, while spectate will mean that your heat is over!

Racing rules:
Everyone is expected to follow clean racing rules... Yeah,right... This is crashmaaas! There are only these basic rules:
1. No wrong way driving - just anti-clockwise direction on track! In case you get spun heading wrong way, driver is expected to turn his car to right direction on full steering lock or reverse and make the J-turn.
2. No standing on track or massive slowing down - except the car is in undrivable condition/position,in that case feel free to leave your car as an extra obstacle for others and hope for someone's help.
3. No disturbing on non-finished drivers after finishing himself.
4. No rejoining during run - if the car is undriveable, rolled or outside the track, the run is over!
5. Have fun! (also a mandatory rule Tongue)

NOTE: After having some incidents in previous years, special attention on rule #3! If you finish your run,you may not interfere others in any way! Serious infractions will lead to disqualification. Also 2nd rule is ignored more and more,so repeated violations might receive ban from this and other RGE events. Let's keep it cool and fair for everyone!

Server behaviour rules:
  • follow the instructions of admins
  • no spamming in chat (few known spammers might be quickly kicked if they don't behave)
  • no insulting others in any way (other than crashing them while in a official run)
  • join only when allowed
  • no voting for restart/end/qualification

I'll be there Thumbs up
Server is now online!
Unfortunatelly Airio tends to corrupt the stats files when using mods, only solution is to clear them - that means the laptimes from old times are vanished...
Me entering crashmaas 2022 like

I will crash into you Rony
Server is now password protected, password is in 1st post right under the section everyone should be familiar with - rules!

Please DO NOT post server info in random places without leading info to this thread - otherwise too many people join who have absolutely no clue what's this event is about and what is it's format! (and leave after setting qualifying time, thus taking away chance to race from those who want to race)

Last year in the annual crashfest once again there were left plenty of wrecked cars lying around, but few best survived to battle out for event win to become the champion of the 12th This is Crashmaaas !!! This year the attendance "shrunk" to 44 drivers, but just because most of the attendees kept the connection alive - only one driver left after setting laptime in qualifying, leaving his name unused in his heat. A total of 3 previous winners attended, including both 2-time champions, but only one of them made to final, without reaching the finish though.

Being fast is surely an advantage if you get in safe distance to pull away from competition. This year 6 of best 10 qualifyers made into final, but the polesitter was taken out after completing half of the Last chance run. However his majesty the defending 2-time champion Meaddie obviously had a blinking neon arrow over his car after all the pre-event talks,so he was a huge target for the "peasants" masses - he finished 5th in his quarterfinal heat and just 13th in his relegation run, retiring early frome the battle and laying down his crown.

With 2 champions not reaching the final and the 3rd one being taken out with 4 laps to go,it was 100% clear there will be a new addition to the glorious list of champions - the 10th one! Twincam is the 1st driver from B2R team to reach this glory, his way to it however wasn't that easy. The irishman qualified 23rd and was drawn into only 6-driver QF heat (due to non-attendance of Atian),where he finished 2nd behind driver who set the fastest laptime of the evening A.Laipnieks, collecting his SF ticket right away. The semifinal wasn't that successful as he finished just 3rd,being pushed to the nailbiting Last chance run. With all the physical battles he was a bit lucky to snach the last 4th final ticket from the LCR,meaning he will be standing alone on the 4th row for the final. His last to first mission succeeded with huge help of his teammate - Twincam finished the final run with rather little amount of car damage to become the 10th winner of this traditional event, being 2nd hailing from British Isles.

A countryman of 1st three event champions finished 2nd this year - A.Rozītis had to go longest way possible to reach runner up position. He qualified 2 positions behind the new champion, finished dead last in his quarterfinal heat, but won his relegation run to reach semifinal. In his semifinal heat he got too involved in battles, being relegated out of track boudries,so he also had to battle for ticket in the last chance run, where he finished 3rd,less than 2 seconds ahead of the new champion. The 3rd place finisher however never saw a single relegation run - E.Blixt used andvantage of his pace as he qualified 4th and won both his quarter and semifinal heats. Maybe it was lack of battle practice, which caused the swede being held up by backmarker, eventually losing fight and also leading position which he held for 12 laps, still he rescued at least a podium finish.

It was planned to make a bit simpler layout for the Bonus run this year, however seems like the last jump was not properly tested as it caused way more retirements than most skilled wreckers. Incredibly how many fell for the wrong direction arrows - lack of experience made them an easy victim for the little organizer's prank. Also the good old "minefield" (tyre stacks, where some have hidden pillars) caused plenty of havoc, but eventually the remaining drivers got used to the track and started the exhausing survival, most of them with highly damaged cars. The joker of the Final run Upsas was on top of the game in this chaos, leading the last 8 laps to finish 1st in the bonus run. Only 4 drivers managed to complete all 20 laps.

There were few problems this year - the new button clutch app proved to have an imperfection,as it does not allow to grid up drivers in gridding screen (since the car isn't actually on track,it cannot check settings). Also the Airio managed to hang up when many drivers simultaniously found out about info available in !opt menu (it's hosted on a very basic machine, probably a combination of being remote and being slow caused the hang) and the event organizer messed up count of drivers, promising top4 being promoted from each relegation run, which was one more than actually available - 2 drivers were dissapointed that their secured semifinal ticket was actually invalid. But at the end of the day the event produced plenty of fun and drama as it supposed to be,and all of that was visible live on broadcast, thanks to the SimBroadcasts.tv effort - the usual crashing motivator and previous champion Pete was substituted by Jonathan and Miika in the virtual commentary booth. You can rewatch the action in the Youtube link few posts above if you already have not.

This year in the Rony's Tuesday's Crashmas Race on tuesday the 26th december - there will be an event using XRG on the small Fern Bay Bullring, featuring many races to qualify themselves for final, which will decide who will become the winner of 13th annual X-mas derby "This is Crashmaaas !!!" Aditionally a new idea has been born (and probably used if not forgotten),between final and bonus run there will be a new race introduced - the Battle Royale! The idea of it is to set up all attending event champions (including a new one) against each other to battle out for the pride of being best in actual head to head battle.
