i played LFS since the first year it was out on demo. and i played demo for many years actually.
some in S2-S3 today is infact some of those o drove with on demo many years ago.
its true. its a multigeneration game. that is pretty accurately said i think.
i think also perhaps that fact i see many write here. we played alot. went away and began again.
that whole things makes it a feeling too ,that comes back to you ,only when youre inside LFS.
no matter what you drive LFS can make sure you can have fun with it within the car limits and so forth.
but i think it s the "feel" . sometimes i meet someone i havent seen a decade and suddenly all kinds of races/driviong pops up as memories. i dont really get that in other games or sims. i tried a few myself. but the light game LFS is, also makes it very easy to get used too. and i think many other games have weird settings or graphics look weird or something else that does i eventually leave them.
as mentioned above ,the only thing i see LFS lack of is graphics. and lucky us they too seem to get updated now. (cant wait to see it). also the way the game runs is good i think. and you can get a good feel of track, car, and other drivers too. often when i play other games in the genre i dont get a feel of where is third place if im 16th or something. you get that feel in LFS. also due to minimap. so all in all i think its a feel, that makes LFS so unique. im not sure still how or why. but what LFS can do is bring people together. in a massive scale. but only if people want it. in other games they too can bring people together but mostly within whatever that games limits are or they are in some way in control of the action on track. (not all though). i think also openess from devs are a factor. i mena we can clearly see with devs if they are in a good mood or not. many other games you never hear about the devs and just get an new update thrown in your face. otherwise the track or the game wont work. its not like that in LFS at all. well to me. as you can follow dev posts and see if theres a new thing you like to update or stick with whatever version you are currently on. many others dont give that option.
i had LFS on all computers i owned since beginning .
as others said here. it just has to be there even if i dont play it much at times.
i think more people than you should think do that actually.
LFS sort of makes you "feel at home". its YOUR game. i think thats the difference and feel in LFS.
if i goto AC or other sims. i dont get that feel at all. its THEIR game/sim that im allowed to play in. LFS i MY sim even though well aware its developers sim. but its that feel you get in LFS.
even the cars feels like its YOUR cars. no matter how bored you get with them. you always know this car do this if i do that in LFS. and i think thats pretty unique to achieve for a game sim .
im probably not such good driver as many others. but im okay with my times in racing as long as im improving my own times here and there. this is also reason you often will see me pull back in a race to last. so i can just go and try beat my own times. others are so obs on wins that it doesnt matter to me really. although i have won a few races here and there. some on luck but others on skill (compared to opponents). i also had long breaks in LFS , but somehow always find my way back into LFS .
one things for sure.
im never going to regret i bought my License for LFS.
the only thing i regret is i too was so stubborn in the beginning as to buying LFS.
i truly wish i had bought my first account the first time i played.
this accoutn is obviously many years later than LFS began.
but its not my only account. and i know many others own more than one account.
as the first reply says.
Because its Worth it.
LFS , the best a man can get
