Quote from Racer X NZ :When you say " I open Lfs for a second time it just shows a black screen.", does that mean opening it again with another running session ?

Or, does it mean that you changed the graphics to a setting your monitor doesn't support and it shows a black screen after LFS is restarted. ?

If it's the second issue, try this...

"If, for any reason, LFS ends up on the Rift in 2D mode or with a black screen, you can get it back like this :
Method 1
Press ALT+F4 to exit LFS
Delete the file "card_cfg.txt" in your LFS folder, so LFS starts up on the primary device (usually your monitor)"

My reply to a later question.

This is usually caused by selecting a LFS video setting that your PC can't handle, usually... Smile

That is not the issue. It has something to do with unlocking your license on 0.6J.
This is an old bug that I still can't reproduce or understand.

If I remember correctly, it can be solved by switching off antialiasing.

As you can't see the options screen, try editing cfg.txt before you start LFS. Search for the line "Antialiasing" and set the number to 0.

Save the cfg.txt and start LFS. Please let us know if this fixes the problem.

I still cannot understand why this happens on so few computers and not if an intro replay is played. I think that is the reason it goes wrong after unlocking. Somehow the intro replay allows it to run without getting a black screen.
So, have you actually tried deleting "card_cfg.txt" from your LFS folder ?

Then re-started LFS after deleting this file, as after doing this the file will automatically be re-created, then LFS should restart to the default video setup.

Yes/No ?

Have you tried a clean reinstall of LFS to a new folder

Yes/No ?
I have the same issue. I got the S2 license. It was working till I restarted my computer. Now I only get a black screen when I launch the game.

Pressing Shift+F4 (windowed mode) displays the game correctly but the frame rate is horrible. As soon as I switch back to full screen, it goes black again.

Macbook Retina Pro (Running on parallels windows 10)
Thanks for the info. I really would like to fix this.

Please can you try the fix which I think works? It is by switching off antialiasing. You can do this in the Graphics options screen, or by editing your cfg.txt file before starting LFS (described 3 posts above).

I look forward to hearing if this solves the problem for you!
I had similar issue. After download and first time install, i seen game logo and then black screen with music playing at loop, like frozen. Then editted C:\LFS\cfg.txt

i had this:
Start Windowed 0

And i turned it into:
Start Windowed 1
Antialiasing 0

Then it worked.. (i have small quite square monitor, with low resolution)
May be it is a video crad related problem
It's possible this may have been fixed in the latest test patch: https://www.lfs.net/forum/thread/88821

The startup is a bit cleaner. I can't say for sure if the bug is fixed as this one bug I have never managed to reproduce or test.
