I am so goddamn scared of heights. Even seeing those photos four inches across on a screen makes my stomach lurch.
Heights are the best, this is me a few years back.

it is

so for Tor it's spiders and for you it's highs? have to remember that
Just got home and watched it again. I got through about 6 seconds before going AAAARGHHH and turning it off.
Would suck if you were tall and wouldn't be able to look down...
I just read about 2 paraglider pilots: one is scared of height, second gets airsick
Allegedly, quite good pilots.

But I dont get it??? What for???

probally they dream was to became pilots, and they just said "f*** it" and went for it.

my dream is to became a racer, but I can't even finish a 30min kart race without vomiting, but still if I had money, I would race everyday to see if the motion sickness (nausea) gets to a level that I can finish the races

It's not a unusual thing to see, we have a guy in our skydiving club that gets nervous when standing on a chair aswell. But jumping from 4000m is fine for him because you don't really have perspective on things from that height, you only see big fields, but closer down you get perspective on cars, trees, people etc.
Yeah, same here - I've flown light aircraft a good few times and once I'm above 1000ft or so I completely lose the fear, I assume because you're so high your brain stops registering that you're high enough up for it to be dangerous.

The feeling I get is that I'm maybe 10 feet above a tiny model of the world.

When I used to fly with air-cadets we've been flying upside-down with the canopy slid right back, just hanging in the straps with nothing but 7000ft of air above (below) me and not got anywhere near the sick feeling I get from just looking out of a 4th floor window. Although the 5-point harness probably helps too..
I get the willies a bit too. Bottom line is, it's un-natural to be that high up from the surface of the planet. So your brain is telling you to get the f down or you'll kill yourself.

I don't mean to make this a therapy thread but sounds like this is vertigo. Veritgo can be triggered by the brain becoming confused by the unaccustomed sense impressions when you look vertically down from a floor window or w/e. It's because we are used to orient by horizontal visual impression. The brain constantly measures our movements in relation to fixed points in the landscape and thus keeps the body in balance.

I find the choosing of words very weird. worst at: beastiality, suicide (so best chance of living or more hospital visits?), ugliest residents (so, the most beautiful people live here?), porn usage (people are worst at porn usage?)

it's not that I don't like, I like a lot, that's why I want to keep racing, but my vestibular system's don't like it
