Quote from BigPeBe :If anything a (working) locked or limited slip differential makes the car more stable. There's no sudden changes in which one of the rear wheels is slipping.
I can say my car feels plenty twitchy sometimes mainly because it has decent power but open diff (gonna change the diff tho).

Never driven a powerful RWD car in the wet with a welded diff, have you?
I have.... it's very hard to turn unless you flick it a lot, and it's not really fast in any ways. LSD all the way.

No but with open diff yes. It's a little annoying because usually only one tire spins and when the other gets going too it can make a quite sudden movement to left or right. Entertaining still tho...

I would much prefer the predictability of locked diff, you know it's going to kick sideways and it's easier to toy around with the rear end when it does. I can already do that a bit with my open diff on dry asphalt because of suprisingly good tires (smooth grip loss curve) but on more drastic situations it doesn't always do exactly what I want (get sideways or does it very suddenly).

Exactly this, as i have found tonight, yeah, its a heck of a lot easier to end up sideways, takes barely any effort at all in fact, but its also a heck of a lot easier to keep control of too, in the dry its a bit more snappy, but in the wet it just glides round if you wish, its strangely quite peaceful actually, as you dont need buckets of revs.
Seems like you have a good working limited slip unit there so if you end up putting the open diff back I'll be very surprised.
I dont mate, it is a standard diff that has been welded up, the previous owner had it done a few months ago, by the same guy who welded my mx5 diff up actually, oh how i have missed tight corners at low speeds, skip scrub skip lol

Tyre use is certianly going to be an issue due to all the scrubbing tho, and with 235/40/17 rubber, could get expensive, may drop down to 215/45, the same as the front has on.
Quote from XCNuse :Sorry I haven't been around for... much at all lol!

My local Mazda club is over 200 people now and between it and work and up until recently my car was taking up all of my attention but now that I'm slowing down (near entirely) on building my car for no reason I'm just going to start saving and deal with life stuff first.

Here are some fairly recent images if no one has seen them:

nice car ... we also established mazda club this may and we already have 44 members ... in this video are our cars but almost every car is a stock but few ones have awesome modify under the hood hope you like this video ( just pic ) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v ... Kdqw5k&feature=share

ps.: this is my ride nothing special but i love it

Ah ok I somehow understood it was a proper LSD. I have also considered about welding the current diff, but will probably end up waiting a bit more and get the LSD one installed. Welded would be fun, but don't know if I want to sacrifice the turn-in in an already understeery car.
Looks like a focus to me
Quote from Derv94 :nice, i had a swiss auto 250 but sold that last year unfortunatley.

that a shifter kart?

Its a kz2 kart yes
what did you do with it?
Quote from el pibe :what did you do with it?

Broke it for spares

Made quite a few £ and got some handy spares for my car
Why didn't you cut it to pieces and sold it as scrap metal?
Quote from KiRmelius :Why didn't you cut it to pieces and sold it as scrap metal?

I sold all the good bits, then I sold the shell to a recycling company...
Quote from Jakg :I sold all the good bits, then I sold the shell to a recycling company...

Shell? There's still wheels, tyres, engine block etc still on it..
he bought the car so he can get the fog lights out of it and mod them with leds
Quote from Jakg :I know I certainly wouldn't want to swap to an older, less valuable, less fuel efficient car atm.

Value, age and fuel efficiency have nothing to do with what car you desire though. I've been cruising around in my RR for about a year now and I'd still happily trade it in for a good condition Escort Van (it'd have to be a TD this time though, N/A was a nightmare). Just because I like them. The RR was my dream car, but I had more fun in my old van.

You probably don't get it since you're driving your granddads car.

I just realised I don't want a Lada. But yeah, trading a Lada for something even better

hoping that this will soon be mine :lovies3d:
