3 month old car and the insurance company have written it off...

When I get the cheque I'll be paying off the finance and using the leftovers to buy an old car to run into the ground on my daily commute. Much more my style than a new car. Any suggestions for a mega efficient (60mpg+) old car?

Get a Lupo 3L
Get a diesel Citroen Saxo.

BTW, how did you crash it?

Unfortunate mate, Corsa D? What engine, looked like an LE. How did it happen??

Consider a Golf, I get 60mpg on a run.

Why was it written off? Chassis doesn't look damaged badly from the photo
Saxo = terrible!!!! no way.
Could always look into a 1.4 TDi 6N2 Polo, the three cylinder one..they seem to be pretty popular but I'm not too sure of the MPG figures
Quote from Klutch :Had a series 3 rx7 for like 2 years..

Only mods were;
Extractors
3" Straight pipe into Magnaflow dumpy tip
Ratsnest&Emissions gear all removed
14x6.5 watanabes (fronts sit flush with guard..rears were in a bit)

Rest of the money was just spent fixing it and slowly restoring it until i had to sell it >.<

We had a FB in where I used to work where we specialised in RX7s. FC with full FD running gear and engine, only just had all the prep work finished though, everything is in the place needed and has just gone off to be sprayed and the aero kit to be fitted and then everything bolted back up and then a setup

Know someone with a remapped one with a few other mods, still does 65mpg on a run! And its quick with the remap etc...

Its a PD engine with a cylinder cut off basically. Can be pushed to 120-130bhp without mega money tbh.

VW diesels always good on fuel! I know someone with a Fabia with the PD130 engine, yeah hes tuned the balls out of it, 275bhp put out on the dyno and still returns 40mpg

I know it is... But talking about economy, 4.5l/100km is not bad.
It is/was a 1.3CDTI Limited Edition (the cheapest little diesel I could get on finance at the time). Depending on what the insurance company value it at, I'll either get something like a little Polo or fix the 106D I used to drive (which leaks, and pops out of gear, and has damage from when someone drove into my Dad...)

I'm fine, as was the driver of the other car.

I was turning at a green light, and had assumed the light was for my direction only (there wasn't anyone coming the other way at the time), then he came over the crest of a bridge in the other direction and collected me. He admitted that he was travelling faster than the speed limit, so hopefully they'll take that into account a tiny bit instead of lumping 100% of the blame on me.
Crazy to see new cars with such a "light" damage written off so easily. I know there could be some nasty damage under the hood and stuff, but still..

Here in Hungary you would see those cars in the dealership labelled as "brand new" in 2 months time for sure, with factory warranty. I'm just sayin..

Um how much are you thinking you'll get? You should get a lump payout plus ask to keep the car at no cost. This has happened countless times on ukmkivs.net - Sell it as Salvage, someone will have it. Most end up with £2-3k more than the price of the car especially if modded.
By the time you've spent money fixing up a shitheap you'd have been better off buying a decent car to begin with.

Get a Polo GT TDI 130. Remap to 180 straight away, very quick.
Heres my car

If I owned that, I wouldn't be caught driving it without a brown bag over my head, never mind be caught taking a picture and posting it on the web.
