Quote from Danke :Does iracing have rolling starts on road courses? If so, where do they start at Mid Ohio?

They do. Typically the higher licensed cars. The Indy car, the DP/Radical multiclass. Not sure about the Corvette but I don't think that one does. Those two i think, apart from hosted races.
Damn, is there something putting off the Rookies from racing? Just raced in the Rookie Legends Cup and the majority of the field had B licences and 1 with a Pro licence >_<

It was an OK race, finished 7th :/ would have got more SR if it wasn't for a twonk tapping my backside on lap 35, that's why you never ride too close to someone's arse

if a lot of people are signed up, then the server splits are decided based on iRating. If you have done well in a few races as a rookie, you will have upped your iRating. As a rookie, you don't get to see your iRating as the main focus is on getting your safety rating up. However, if you do a time trial or qualify session and you're the only person in it, you will get to see the average iRating for the session. If you're the only one in it, you will see your iRating

Maybe you were placed in the higher bunch based on iRating due to doing well
Probably, I've finished in the top 5 about 8 times out of my 11 races, and won 1 of them, I usually set the 2nd fastest lap in the races too, but the South Boston racetrack is a tricky one to master, as nearly all the drivers can set good times.
can hopefully put in enough practice to be at the level i want, now exams have finished
Is anyone else competing in the Road America 200 this weekend? I'll be honest, I'm failing.
If I had the money to buy the track and car I would.. but I am broke.
I am Wilko, currently qualified 5th for it, which means if all goes to plan you can watch me on the broadcast. My prediction is a podium or a spectacular accident!

thats excellent!! Hope you do well......
I'll try my best Andy. Why is it everytime you decide to watch me in practice I spin off by the way?
Quote :Christmas is coming early for iRacers, whether they’ve been naughty or nice. iRacing.com is adding a sleigh-load of free cars and tracks to its base package in the weeks and months ahead. You read that right -- Free!

iRacing Rookie or veteran, you’ll be able to take advantage of the enhanced base package beginning in early July with the release of legendary Thompson International Speedway, the high-banked Connecticut bull ring that has been synonymous with New England motorsports for more than half a century.

Of course, you’ll need a shiny new car to race at Thompson. How about a Tour Modified? The faster cousin of the SK Modified that has long been a staple of the iRacing garage is poised to join the service as well. iRacers who already own an SK Modified will see the Tour Modified automatically added to their inventory, while those new to the Modified sim racing scene will receive both the SK and Tour Modifieds with a single purchase. Like Thompson, the Tour Modified will be available in early July for practice and hosted racing, with official race series kicking-off in Season Three.

What could be better than a free new track and a shiny new race car? How about a free new track and two shiny new race cars? As hinted a few weeks ago, we’re also adding a street stock to the base package, one fresh from the JR Motorsports shop. Available in late 2010, the street stock will also be free to all iRacers.

Have we forgotten our road racers? Not hardly. One of iRacing’s worst-kept secrets is the fact that we’ll be adding the Mazda MX5 to our stable later this year. But we’ll bet you didn’t know it will be the new road racing rookie car (don’t worry Solstice fans, the Solstice will still be an integral part of iRacing); or that the Mazda will be available in both right hand drive (MX5 Cup) and left hand drive (MX5 Roadster) versions. And yes, as part of the basic package, the MX5 Cup and Roadster will both be free to all iRacers.

yay . wonder when the mx5 is coming?
Fantastic!!! I've always wanted to drive an MX-5. If I hadn't been so damn tall I would have bought one years ago..

Only two more weeks till I'm back in action... YAY
Will they only be free to new members or will they be added as an update to current members?
Wow! Great news! Will be sure coming back when they add MX5.
Brilliant! Love the sound of the Tour Modified - I thought the SK was already mental enough!

I (L) DEVELOPMENT!!!!!!! :lovies3d:

Everyone gets all of it; save the touring - you only get that if you bought the SK and will still get it free if you do buy the SK.
i hate the spec racer with a passion

MX-5 and Okayama for free..
new free content is great news

re spec racer, i did a few practices with it last week and actually found it fun to drive once you sorted a setup out to suit your style, especially at lime rock, jefferson reversed isn't so much fun though
