the face of that car looks like it went to a special needs class
don't be so specialist
Haha.

Sorry Jakq but after all the threads and all the stuff you say you wanted and then you go a pick this (nothing wrong with the car) you have no idea what you want.

Buy the damn car and never make a thread about buying cars again.
or about what type of dust caps you should buy.
I must confess, I've never seen someone micro-analyse buying a second hand car this much before!

This.

Jakg, it's been well over a year since your first post. Buy the damn car already.

Quote from obsolum :He seems to just like posting

Selective quoting ftw.
I honestly don't think he's ever going to actually buy another car. I'm not even sure he really wants to. He seems to just like posting about it.
I don't really get how this is a step up (or a step in any direction) from your current car. It's basically the same thing isn't it, but with a different badge on?

I'm not being funny (not funny "ha-ha", which of course I always am) but I don't get how you've arrived at buying this Rover at all.
i think he needs to write a blog. rather than me checking the thread and then being annoyed that another few mins of my life is wasted on shyte. i can just avoid that blogsite.
Why not wait until you find something you really like instead of buying a car for the hell of it? I bought an Aygo pretty much on impulse and although I don't regret it, I'm not hanging onto it for much longer either...
Jakg, if I were you I'd sell it and buy an old Subaru Legacy. Cheap, badass and it won't break down. You're a bit picky too.

This shall be my last post in this thread as your probably all annoyed with me by now...

Just took my Dad's car for a drive just so that I could get an idea of a referenced point on a similar sized car I dont know inside and out... spent the whole time cruising, did put my foot down occasionally but realised while driving fast is fun its very stressful trying to push forward on public roads (i mean driving faster than most - not driving beyond the limits), whereas cruising seems to get me there just as fast (it actually feels faster) but its so much more relaxed. Plus if the trip computers MPG figures are anything to go by it saves my wallet, too.

This single drive has pretty much totally changed my driving style, and totally changed the car i'm looking for - I dont need anything sportier or faster so I can save 2 minutes on my commute, I just want something comfortable I can get in, drive 40 miles, get out and then feel like i've done nothing at all...

I had doubts the car was for me being a wallowy barge and all, but after driving my Dad's car I think it might actually be perfect for me. Awaiting the results of the RAC examination tomorrow, and assuming that goes ok I will take it for another drive and most likely buy it....

And yes I change my mind alot - about 2 hours ago I was freaking out that I didnt know what to do etc. I don't like making decisions and if I get suggestions / comments it helps to reduce the decisions I have to make, which is why i've led you on a merry dance over the last 14 pages...
Dude you should just keep your Proton and save your money, unless you're just desperate to have something - anything - different. I understand that feeling but be aware that it's an irrational feeling.

Pretty much any car made in the last ten years will get you anywhere you want to go if you're not pushing in a hurry and you'll feel like you didn't have to work hard to get there, this seems like a fairly unnecessary buy to me.
given how much girls (an really people in general) like someone who cant make his mind up about anything... how did you ever find a gf?

No shit Jaky boy!!!!.

I dread to think how you are going to be in later life when you have some real decisions to make!

Good luck on the car hunt, its been a heck of a journey
I don't understand why you look at these weird cars, just think of your age, what does a Rover 75 provide you that your Proton doesn't? You're not at the age where comfortableness is a primary concern and you least of all need a powerful car when all you really wanna do is make do with the car you have for a few years to get your insureance premium down.

Exactly, seems to me like you just want to change for the sake of changing. Stick with what you've got until you're old enough to afford something newer and better. Hell I had a 15yr old Fiesta until I turned 22 back in December, now I've saved up enough to buy and own a few year old Golf, which is comfortable, kitted out and stupidly quick to boot.

Makes sense really, I could have burnt money getting something intermediate when I was younger, but there was no point really, other than for change.

Since you`re at it and want high mileage, look this way.

If you want comfort, buy yourself and adapt a comfortable seat.

Otherwise save the money..

wtf is that site? Literal bollocks is what it is.

Okay. But yeah, those colours hurt my eyes too.

No, I`m not going to argue about it. Maybe send you to forums like overunity.com. :P

There have been several people over a time of many years, who've claimed they had a car running on water. None of them ever let journalists take a look under the bonnet or "inside" the engine. It's all bollocks.
