very nice skin, and renders, but a way to improve your skin, is the hood stripes, you should make them end at an angle like most stripes that end on the hood.

love it...except for the colors
Quote from Funnycat :Not too convincing. I'd suggest generating one here
http://www.french-number-plates.com/platemaker/
And making it a texture + use the black as displacement.

If you're using Vray I can give you my plate, as seen here:

In that case, he should apply a bump map because the current plate is 3D and he should keep it that way.
All those white reflection lines arn't that nice imo.

I'm not sure I'm following ya there, he's got a 3d plate with extruded clunky 3d letters. Do you want him to dispose of the letters or what? I was talking about making a new plate or using mine.
oka I understood.
I try to make a DUTCH LICENSE
but a 3d, and not bump ...

Use a displacement map like I did, it actually generates a new 3d mesh based on your image, not just shadows/highlights like a bump map.
my first try for a dutch plate
small errors in the stars,
I would like to improve tomorrow.

i know the material is not good.
this is a concern for later ..

You are better off with a bumpmap vs. what you currently have. Bump maps are far from sufficient in closeups and flat angles, but for a numberplate it should do just fine.

Displacement mapping is overkill, and can also have the side effect of looking "pixelated". You could compensate by creating a even larger map to be displaced, and refine the displacement quality. The numberplate is a pretty small area so one could argue the extra geometry doesn't really matter. But it is still a messy solution for clean shapes like characters.

I suggest you create the characters with a bold font and then bevel the edges. You may not need to make them bold though. That depends on how your bevel tool works.

Then move the geometry so only the front faces and the front-most bevels are visible and you can delete the rest if you want to.

This will give you great results since the bevel will pick up highlights.
It's been a while since I've done something with lfs
but inspired by overhauling, I created this scene.
I have used parts from the garage scene but also from a old scene.

I saw that I was working with a number plate.
I have not worked on that anymore, maybe I get picked up,
with the tip of R4ptor.

Hi Loko,

There is a shadow.
perhaps there is to much light from outside.
and the red cars are more top spots on the ceiling.
but i will try it with more licht

ohh I see now! Again, great job!
thx Loko for the compliment,

I've tried different light settings.
but it does not get better
you get too much reflection of the paintwork of the car.

some nice renders from the Boekanier
