Quote from Goresh :If you have members requesting to represent what they consider their country of residence and your capable of doing so, why does this even need debating? Seems odd this would ever be an issue that would spark such debate. Seems like more effort is going into trying to decide whether to do it or not.

Well.. the problems is that members have been willing to represent England, Nothern Ireland, Scotland and Wales separately - but haven't been interesting in changing their profile accordingly. And that is one thing I'm not able to do for I haven't got the information.

If the members decide in this poll that separately I'll clear out the nationality info of every member that has Gbr now, so that there must be an action from our members part.

Quote from nikimere :...i wouls suggest that this is your decision as the admin...

I could do the decision in a split second, but since I think it (my decision) will be debated again I decided to ask the community.
About England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales.. again

Okay, I received a question about this issue and it's time to make a final decision. However, I don't want to get in middle of this for I do not represent any of these countries and therefore am not the right one to make the decision.

It's up to you racers in Gbr, give your votes and end this.

Welcome back

Race discussion

Okay, this is the place to discuss about good races, great passes, demolition derbies.. etc. Still, remember to behave - no foul language in here either.

However, complaints should still be sent to Appeals Arbiter(s). You can find the address from our site.

Quote from russraine :Is the site down?

Well, at the moment I can assure you this:
  1. The site is up & running
  2. You have not been blocked.
However, I don't know why you can't access it.

Patch Q for me too ..

All of our servers had some lag last night (also those that normally have absolutely none), so I gather it was a wider problem in the waves of Internet. No way to be sure, though...

My condolences to disconnected racers.

Quote from Blackout :Results seem to be ok now

Hey, I did warn that it's a work in progress ppl

Let's hope I managed to remove all error - I see now I was trying to finish the results too fast. Though, in the same time I think I made a new record - and there's still a lot of room for improvement.

Quote from atledreier :It was a 'Rockfire USB Smarttraveller'

The axis on it are really low resolution, like 4bit or something, but it's ok for handbrake or clutch if you can adapt it mechanically. Or ever viewcontrol. Not that I need it with my TrackIR4 in the mail..

Thanks for this info.. though I was able to get my shifter working with the gameport pads cable and some diodes - very simple as a matter of fact.

I'll attach a pic, if someone if curious - also I think I've done my shifter a bit different than most of these do-it-yourself guys

Ps. casing is under construction..

Quote from atledreier :Bought the cheapest USB gamepad i could find with 8 buttons. As a bonus, the pad had 2 axis too, adn I plan to make a handbrake sometime soon. Took it apart, checked the wiring and made sure all the buttons responded by a simple short. They all did. Soldered wires to all the positive leads on the buttons, and soldered the negative (common) lead to the shaft of the shifter.

Planning to buy one of these for my shifter. You wouldn't happen to remember the brand&model of the pad? The reason I'm asking: I need all buttons to share the same negative/positive lead.

I designed the shifter to work with my 6 button gameport pad, but found out that I would need to have separate +/- for each gear. And that's not acceptable, there's not enough patience built in me for that.

Thanks in forward

Quote from dirty_rider :what is the maximum ping time, wherewith the game is enjoyable?

I recall playing with 200 and enjoying with NASSA boys, but for league racing it's too much.

I'd say around 120-150ms then ?

Quote from mrbogeyman :ppppppfffffffftttttttt.

just because we are on the same island doesnt mean we are the same country.

hello europeans.

I'll put this quote from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_Kingdom in here too:

Quote : The United Kingdom is a country that is divided into four constituent parts:
  • England
  • Scotland
  • Northern Ireland
  • Wales

Quote :you are the person who was willing to recognise Scotland as a country, but not Wales !

Where did you get this idea?

Quote :if you accept one you MUST accept the other ! my first question to you was why you listed Scotland as a country and not Wales.. if you had said ho it's a mistake and corrected it that would have been the end of it !!

I didn't receive any mail, or any question directed to me from you. Also, Scotland is not listed as country anywhere on the site, hasn't been and is not. I said it's a mistake, also I corrected it as soon as I could. I have other things to work on than yours. Furthermore, I've been offline from thursday night to this morning.

Quote :as far as theses other places you describe that claim country status, all i can ask is do they have there own country flags, like Wales does and do they take part in world sporting events under that flag and are recognised by world sporting bodies as seperate countries like Wales , Scotland Ireland and England are ???

It's only Northern Ireland that is part of United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland m8.

Quote :if your answer is to refuse to accept theses countries as seperate countries, and reguard us all as the U.K. then that is fine by me.. i'll consider the matter closed.. but at least you have learnt you cant accept one without the others, as you were..

Again, this was not the case.

Well.. I should be then the very sorry person from Finland...

It's my mistake that this "error" was still going on - and also lack of knowledge. This could have been corrected with other measures than one(s) the annoyed Welshman did.

However, now you can choose whatever part of Gbr you wish to present in OLFSL - se leave it be and go to modify your profile.

--------
Also, it wasn't our intention to start a racist move against Wales - I, my staff or OLFSL have nothing against Wales - or Scotland, Northern Ireland or England either.

Quote from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_Kingdom :
Quote :The United Kingdom is a country that is divided into four constituent parts:

However - England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales are often represented separately in sporting competitions. Therefore, OLFSL will use that standard also.
England = Eng
Scotland = Sco
Northern Ireland = Nil
Wales = Wal
If you wish to use different abbreviation, or know that different one is commonly use please let us know. I didn't find any official three digit abbreviation(s) on my queries.

Changing this information is up to OLFSL members, for we can't know from which part of United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland you are from.
