Quote from alzys177 :lol.. as i said i am in the motor trade and know all about computers and ecu's on cars.. i also know how many fault codes prove untraceable even by main dealers on there own cars..

That's natural, since nearly all codes point out to several possible targets. In my opinion, those codes are good for diagnostics and evaluating possible problem areas. While my knowledge of latest machines is very limited, I still don't think there will be a ecu capable to pinpoint failure (or even fix it real-time) in near future.

Quote from alzys177 :and that is on conventional ic cars, let alone hybred cars which are even more complex....
lets not forget hybred technology is brand new to the market place and theses early cars are bound to have problems and faults not thrown up in testing as do all new concepts..

That's the price we have to pay for new (and usually better) technology

Quote from alzys177 :HO MY GOD....
so many gadegts and gizmos.. would not like to be you when the ecu starts throwing out fault codes.. i am in the motor trade and main dealers have enough problems fault finding normal cars with out this little pandoras box....

but on the bright side you could be really eco friendly and recycle it into a hair dryer..

What do you mean by normal cars? I mean computers (and fault codes) have been part of this for years now.

This is the future, better get used to it

Neither have I. Maybe it's an automatic gearbox feature?

I think what he's asking is if it's possible to select one of training scenes and save a replay of driving it.

Quote from NotAnIllusion :I get about a 10 FPS drop if I use 24-bit Z-buffer depth instead of 16-bit (so naturally I stick to the latter). Maybe it'll have the same effect on your system.

Yeah.. go to 16-bit absolutely

Quote from smidge :Yes, I tried reducing everything I found in a menu, but it doesnt help, since the problem seems to be in too many objects showing at one time Because when i turn my car to face away from the cones, the frm rate rises instantly.

I cant believe that everyone finds it normal to drive, since i had such problems where there were too much cones since i can remember, I thought it is a common LFS problem.

Does your gfx card support hardware vertex shading? I had problems with my GF2 .. though I've always thought that LFS likes more of CPU power.

Could you perhaps attach an screenshot of your settings, maybe I could help - you know I'm used to reduce it all to minimum when I had my 1.2Ghz Duron

Quote from smidge :Makes it very hard to drive.

Sure it does. I don't see your equipment too slow to run it.. though I can't tell you how to get higher framerate. Have you tried to reduce user, dust and mirror LOD and removed shadows and so on ?

Also, don't keep OLFSL site open in background.

Quote from smidge :I seem to be getting very low fps.
there are far too many objects imo

This is going to push this thread offtopic, but what are you PC specs?
--edit--
others with fps problems are welcome to reply too

Mine:
ASUS A8V Deluxe mobo
AMD Athlon 64 3000+
512Mb DDR
Radeon 9600 Pro

.. and constant 48-50 fps (limited)

Quote from WGooden :I cant run this, lol my fps are so bad with all the objects.. it sucks.

I think some ppl had problems running it when they had their browser viewing the OLFSL site. The "snowstorm" eats a lot of processor time.

Just an idea..

Mario Kart? .. err...

I usually play GPL when taking a break from LFS. If you haven't heard about, download the vid below. It's FienDi taking 1 lap in Monaco with 1969 Ferrari.

Btw, is it possible to drive a lap in Nürburgring without spinning?

I think we have seen enough of this. Only thing we can agree is that we disagree.

Our Appeals Arbiter will inform when the decision is made.

Quote from alzys177 :lastly yes i must blame your system for my passing pedro after i hit him, because it is what has been done to me and it has been condoned by you and your staff.. therefore if thats the rules you are playing by, then i must do the same, and play by the same rules.. or i will simply be a fool !illepall

This really makes all you've said before empty.

lololol i have told at least 10 people today it wont be long before someone brings up i hit a car yesterday.. congrats you win first prize ..

Please don't give me that.. I didn't watch the replays from yesterday and from AS1R to win a price, but to be certain that your complaint has been dealt as it's supposed to. As a matter of fact, there's no decision to your latest complaint yet.

Quote from alzys177 :as we commenced racing, after the jump on the dirt i slid under braking into his rear , he was already partly sideways going into the right bend and i hit him arround a bit more,.. now it thought all this conversation we are now having in my head at that split second , as i knew i would be accused of having double standards.. but if you are enforcing the rules the way you are then i would be a fool to do anything but take my chance and pass him..

I didn't accuse you - just tried to point out that we all make mistakes. You took your chance and failed, that happens to all of us - for example me in that very same corner. According to your previous messages, we both should be penalized for what we did - if I understood correctly?

Quote from alzys177 :at any other time i would wait for him to recover but i have lost enough places and points to your system so i must use it to my advantage to claw some back..

It's a lousy explanation to blaim our system and ground your move(s) by that. I hope you can rethink that sentence.

edit: all the race 1 mpr's don't work, race 2 mpr's do work (all).

EDIT2: nevermind, saw them already in chatterbox on website

And the links should work too now.

Quote from Blackout :I have to admit it may have been wrong desission to stay there upside down. But if host would have asked me to go spectate I would have done it, but the place didnt seem so dangerous at the time, it wasnt on the line. Wasnt my day anyway

Well, the rules recommend to spectate if you are in or near the driving line. Also, I have to say you (or Blackened) didn't cause any problems/disturbance for me.

Quote from Blackened :so actually racers do'nt have to go to spectate mode...they can just wait till they maybe get back on their wheels

No, absolutely not.

And if you feel like it, you should file a complaint.

However, this - "if your car is flipped over in or near the driving line" - can be debated.

Quote from alzys177 :i was hit clean off the track twice on asc in the uf1, i appealed it and it was turned down, it was not intentional..

the question i think you must ask here is, if you let people get away with hitting other cars off the track weather it seems intentional or not, it tends to leave the flood gates wide open,, for "ho well it was an accident i did'ent mean it" both on asc and yesterday the people who hit me went on to finish in front of me, therefore gaining an advantage form, lets say there bad driving, or lack of driving ability..

We do not let people "get away" with hitting other cars off the track. If you have understood so, please read the decision(s) and the rules again for you've obviously misunderstood something.

I did re-review the both accidents and in my point of view they are no different than the one that occured in FE5 event between you and [DB] Pedro Nunes in pool2 race on lap 13. I don't think it was your intention to spin his car? Accident like these are unfortunately part of racing, we can not stop it - neither can we penalize every shunt & bump. Or maybe we can, but it would be pointless.

I'm sure you understand this.

Quote from Dandy Dust :So how about ONE WEEK in advance?

Okay, let's say one week in advance, that would put the hotlap deadline into next saturday. This would cut off 6 days from time racers have to make their hotlap. I don't know about the others, but for me that would be an issue.

In the other hand - in the old days the subscription deadline to each event (yes, OLFSL had different system on those days) was thursday before the raceday. And the races took place on Satruday. Then when we asked our races if they would like to have an earlier deadline they replied that it would be too early to say if they have time on raceday. Something unexpected might come up, etc.

So this current system is a compromise. Also, usually you receive the grid on friday - this week was just a exeption to that rule.
