Quote from NitroNitrous :Why can´t I try it?

You need Join2LFS to use the Join link... of course you can always join the server by looking for it in the server list, in-game.

Quote from Iron :It would be interesting to see in the table that how many "laps" each player has completed.

Since we're starting the requests anyway... an online status indicator would be nice to have in the table too

Quote from ayrton senna 87 :if u drive too much and just 'pound round' u get into a comfortable rhythm and don't really concentrate.

That's so true!

Some nice tips up there, been thinking a lot about how to improve consistency myself and "look the same place each time round" is something I never really put to practise, gotta try that soon!

Take your pills everyone?

As much as I dislike Alonso, I think that move was perfectly fine - not brilliant, just brave - and there was no reason to leave the second apex open as Heidfeld wasn't there! No one's mentioned the scenario that Heidfeld had to choose the run-off area because he carried too much speed into the turn to make it through the outside line...?

My opinion above, now please don't shout at me... lol.

Quote from banshee56 :And, BTW, can I blame that video you did showing off your new t-shirt on your accent??

Hahaha!! Can't blame that on the accent, that's just a typical example of an Appie brain fart

Although I personally don't know brian, congratulations to the both of you!

Quote from DarkTimes :Hehe, you'll need to educate me, what is UBB? I did a quick Google, somehow I don't think you're referring to the United Bulgarian Bank.

Hehe, pretty much what Ian said.. and here's a link:
http://www.canandaigua.com/ubb/ubbcode.html

Would be useful for posting results and standings on our forum

I'm sorry if this has been mentioned before. Noticed this many times now:
The starting light sequence has often already started before my car is put on the grid (one, or sometimes even two lights are already on). This seems to be worse when there's less cars on the grid. Therefore I take it the delay time before starting the light sequence depends on the amount of cars on the grid?
Isn't it possible to "see" when every car is positioned on the grid? In that case you could use that as a trigger to start the light sequence...
I'm almost sure you have already given this option a thought if it would be possible, but you never know...

Quote from Scawen :3a_vtfmt_s1 %s^8 voted to %s %s^8 (%s^8) [%d/%d]%s

Here is the explanation

%s - player name who is voting
%s - ban or disconnect
%s - player who is being voted against
%s - user name
%d - number of votes
%d - number of votes required
%s - press 1 or nothing

It's hard to know how this could be reduced, other than by making separate strings for kick and ban. All the other %s and %d can't really be changed.

The problem lies in the order of that list of variables. To be able to create a Dutch sentence that actually makes sense, the order would have to be:

%s - player name who is voting
%s - player who is being voted against
%s - user name
%s - ban or disconnect
%d - number of votes
%d - number of votes required
%s - press 1 or nothing

I've tried rebuilding the sentence to make it work with the current format, but in that case I don't have enough characters to finish the sentence

Just so you know, patch X2 mpr files contain LFS usernames:

Thought I'd use this thread to ask another question about the translation strings.

3a_vtfmt_s1 and 3a_vtfmtdmo are filled with %s's. How do I know which strings are used in that place? Looking at how the string is used in-game, it might be a better idea to leave the %s out and just translate the string in total as there's a difference in word sequence between English and Dutch and the translators can't change the order in which the variables are displayed in this string.

Quote from AndroidXP :You're reading it wrong.

In the file it is 01 72 79 46, but in the MPR.txt it reads that the 4 byte integer is saved with the lowest byte first. So you actually have to read it as 46 79 72 01, which is 1182364161 seconds, which translates to "20.06.2007, 18:29:21"

Ooohhh, stupid! Thanks a lot!

Quote from DieKolkrabe :Sorry for the noobish question, but I'm unclear on this. I run the Team Eire public server on my machine, should I update to X2?

Quote from Scawen :The fix is on the host side so I recommend hosts should upgrade to version X2 so the host cannot be crashed by guests.

Do you think?

Quote from Scawen :Yes, see attachment.

I'm trying to update my mpr parser for the new mpr header format at the moment. I have a 0.5X replay where the start time (UTC) bytes represent 24279366 seconds (0x01727946), which can't be right Is it possible this is a bug or is my maths going downhill?

Uploaded replay here.

EDIT: NO BUG http://www.lfsforum.net/showthread.php?p=465185#post465185

Well, if the Belgians insist on using "u" instead of "je" I think it's time for a separate Belgian translation indeed
In all seriousness, the translation is done by two Dutchmen and a Belgian guy and we've discussed almost every word to find the best compromise for both countries. All in all I personally don't think it has turned out that bad

People seem to forget that with a proper business plan anyone could get a loan from the bank

I'm definitely not saying this is the case for the LFS devs (and it's none of my business either!), I'm just guessing. But at least it's something I myself would consider - to ensure an income for my family during the development.

... Péter 'Hummer' Hum joins F1RST!

F1RST Racing has managed to sign Péter 'Hummer' Hum to the team! People from the early days of LFS will certainly remember the name... and this former Inferno, tHUNder and Ocrana driver has recently picked up LFS racing again...

With the addition of Péter to the team, F1RST has made another big step up. The 19 year old citizen of Budapest has shown his extraordinary racing skills in virtually all the available race sims. Péter has led the GPL ranks in Hungary ánd the World ranks in GTR. He's also been fighting for the Hungarian national GPL championship, where he ended second behind Norbi.

Inside F1RST, Péter will be a strong force in the Masters of Endurance squad and he's looking forward to participating in the bigger individual international leagues too.

So on behalf of the whole team, I welcome you to the team Péter, we're looking forward to a successful cooperation

Quote from Dru :i feel frustrated becuase i have to have drive names above cars

Why do you have to in the first place? Especially in league races... I can't care less about who I'm racing, in the end I want to be first! I only have a bit of mercy for my team mates, but I recognise them from the skin anyway
