If it turns out to be another gangsta wannabe I'll be disappointed. That was what I hated about SA. I like the proper crime family theme from GTA3 and VC. This 'urban' gangsta wannabe stuff is crap. I want proper crime families, with chandeliers over their staircases, limousines, poorly voiced accents nice suits and countless Godfather references. That's what crime is all about!

Quote from lukelfs :Thanks for the reply

Ah right, I will probably wait until I see some more convincing videos..

If you've got 10 euros I'd say it's worth it just to try it out for the next few months, if you have a rig capable of running it smoothly. I've only gotten to do a total of like 10 laps in it so far, and I'm glad I got in on it. I just want some time to actually give it a proper go.

Quote from lukelfs :Also interested. I'm put off due to most videos showing lack of oversteer in every car?

Thanks

Oversteer seems pretty non-existant right now, even in the 68 Lotus. I haven't had much seat-time, though, and the fact that my chair keeps rolling around the non-carpetted floor in my new condo hinders any real evaluation from my end, physics-wise.

... It is pretty, though.

Quote from TypeRacing :Just one top tip - select car and mod and then press Run RBRSSE.exe or something at single player interface. After that you got new cars and mods in usual RBR(just like RBR without RSRBR, but mods have been installed), so you can drive a season or run single rally plugin.

Does this apply to tracks? If not I'll just stick to my manual way, I think. Of course, I can manually add tracks, too... I just wish they didn't over right existing and I could have all of them in the sim.

Quote from BlueFlame :Didn't they do a really poor mod for rfactor though?

I wasn't much a fan of the mod itself, but it was the most popular mod for rF for a while I believe. Of course, I wasn't much a fan of rF in general anyways.

Quote from BlueFlame :What HAVE they done in the past? A few rFactor mods?

Same team that did Shift 2 IIRC, and many of the same guys involved in Race, GTR, GTL. Many of them came from Blimey! Games, which itself came from Simbin.

Quote from DieKolkrabe :Ryan Briscoe's saying Indy ought to have closed cockpits. No, those have their own issues

Yea, a closed cockpit won't do much good when it gets ground off by the cheese graters lining the circuit.

Everyone I'm seeing talking about the issue is only addressing one thing (in the media, anyways, not on the forum). Yes, we need a new catch fencing solution. Yes, we need to break up the pack racing. Yes, we need to race on tracks that don't allow 3-wide for 200 miles at 225mph.

But, what most people are neglecting to say is that truly we need all three.

RIP Dan.

Quote from sil3ntwar :So this is the first time i have used RSRBR and its more annoying than useful. Massive download with complicated interfaces and it doesn't even include half the stuff you need. Downloaded the full car pack but all the cars sound like shit (very quiet makes it hard to shift properly) and they seem to handle pretty badly. Maybe i should have just stuck to the original.

I don't like RSRBR either. Mostly because of the interface. I hate having to exit the game to switch cars or stages, it's just a pain. Plus, there's no proper integrated single player season mechanic; which is what I want. That's why I just stick in new cars the old fashioned way and play the season in my Fiesta WRC (actually, I haven't used it in a season yet.. haven't had time...)

Quote from spanks :What is C.A.R.S. besides annoying to type?

New sim being developed by Slightly Mad Studios. Quite early on, but has promise imho; which says a lot, because I hate everything they've done in the past...

I signed up for the Junior account on Sunday and gave it a real quick go (as did my girlfriend.. in the 68 Lotus... messy :P). I haven't had the chance to even think about touching any settings to get the steering to feel better, but something about it just clicks with me. Despite the car diving to the side when I so much as look at the wheel (like I said, I'll work on getting the settings just right) something about it feels fairly good for what it is. I have a lot of optimism for this title, so much so that after a few more builds I might go in with the 100Euro option.

The only thing that I don't get, right now, is why is the 68 Lotus so easy to drive? With the whacked out steering settings I could barely get a clean lap in the Radical, but the Lotus seemed almost easy :P

Quote from tristancliffe :From iOS5 onwards though you can backup to iCloud if you want to, so you don't need a computer ever (in theory). Personally, I'll stick with local backups for a bit longer!!

Precisely the reason I want iOS5. No mo' iTunes. Can I back up my phone on someone else's computer?

Quote from Crashgate3 :My dad works at Cadwell, so I'll pump him for rumour confirmations. Are they planning to laser-scan their tracks?

There's a news release stating they are, along with Oulton, Brands and I think the fourth is Castle Coomb

Hooray for rehashing a thread!

So, I want to update to iOS5, but I'm going to backup what I can, first. What stuff will I lose in the update? (Keeping in mind I don't have iTunes on my computer, so the phone will lose any data after updating)

Do I need to back up my contacts? Aps? Notes? Mail?

Thanks!

Hell, just saw this today. Looks very promising, I'm definitely intrigued and hopefully I can get some time away from the girlfriend soon to give this a shot. I'm willing to part with 10 euros to see what's what.

Plus.. Cadwell? Yum! That's worth it right there.

Hmm.. something I've just remembered... Xbox 360 has no G25 support, correct? That's probably a deal breaker for me. I'm not buying a new wheel and FM3 just simply wasn't fun with a controller.

Physics-wise, is it anything at all like a sim? RBR is amazing in that department, and I don't expect WRC 2 to be on par, but I do expect the physics to be very good. I'm looking for something that I can get immersed in. Dirt and co just don't cut it, not even close.

Has anyone picked this up yet? I've been thinking about it... It's been getting poor reviews and I'm sure it'll be a disappointment, but I so want to have a shiny new rally sim.

I'm intrigued by the career mode type thing, and that it has twice as many stages as RBR does (I haven't had any luck with modded stages, and I absolutely hate the complete lack of in-game integration of addon stages for RBR so I don't bother anymore).

IoM was in GPL and NR2003, too. Targa Floria is in GPL and rF. Haven't tried Trento yet, but I also don't yet have my hands on a copy of nKPro... might still pay for it, I did like the demo, and I'd like some more playgrounds...

Personally, I love the ring. Partly because of its infamous reputation, partly because of its insane speed, partly because of the scenery but mostly for the variety of challenging corners and elevation changes. Just a wonderful circuit to drive in a game, and I'd imagine in real life, too.
