Quote from MAGGOT :Well... with a render of the BMW - Sauber F1 car now on LFS.net... I think that is a pretty good indication that we will get an F1 car. If not with this patch than maybe in a later one or with S3. Of course, I could be wrong...

Such teasing would be too impolite and irresponsible, I think.

I thought about fogs with variable visibility. And, judging by the things found by you guys, hope to see dynamic light changing.

Hope a real weather feature (like in online aviation networks) appears.

So pity in many places it is cloudly, indeed.

It's about 50% of disc covered right now, the evening light seems green like in LFS The light is notably weaker.

Watching it right now. Broke a couple of old diskettes and made a screen for my camera In 30 minutes it will be 93% phase at my city. Some clouds appear in the scene, but are quite transparent. Photos will be soon.

I looked that in Wikipedia too. But being a wikipedian I assumed that everyone already knows it and didn't bother mentioning.

This is the article

I'm not a physicist, but as I've just found, he upgraded the steam engine to a version usable in a locomotive and then patented it (locomotive).

See the attachment. I guess this is what he invented.

I thought the same and wanted even to make a thread like "Bahrain GP podium" but calmed down.

Yep, too many already. Either a poll is useless: you know bookmakers' rates, and they are close to all the interested crowd's expectations, so what do you need more?!

I'm not active, but would like to discuss other racing series, anything but F1.

Quote :Well as I wrote in quali thread this was only because its the season start. Someone suggested making 2 threads in future, one for prequal and qual and one for the race. Either way, I'm gonna look at the results of this poll and stick with it.

Err, look better, please. There are 5 of them already: qual, gp poll, 1st practice, 2nd practice, kick off.

Why not post into an already opened thread on Bahrain GP? It's not necessary to make a thread on any session.

Some snow from me too, from the middle of nothing in Siberia. February 7th, a light snowfall made everything virgin white. No, it wasn't snowing heavily like you may imagine , here it snows little by little all the winter.

By the way, tell how common smoking/drinking is in your locations.

I remember at school the smoking place was outside and it was possible to see people walking there. So we knew everybody to smoke or not to. Of course, it was a matter of being "adult", a consequence of being "cool guy" (in those mad 1990's it was a criminal growth, especially spreading of criminal "culture", so you may guess how a typical "cool guy" of those days looked).

In the Uni in my group nobody except 2 people of 30 smoked, though in another group in my department/year there were about 3/4 of smokers.

Smoking is quite spread here, though among my friends there are very few (though I do neither specially seek, nor avoid persons by this streak), partially because many of them are of my Uni, with quite many I got acquainted via volleyball. When I say this to somebody, many people get wondered a lot!

Even never tried smoking. But had a girlfiend smoking light sigarettes like a choo-choo locomotive.

GPFlo,
1) gravity force can be calculated from absolute acceleration (a = F/m). We can obtain the acceleration quite enough precisely as the 2nd derivative of position. From the difference of positions of a car in 2 moments we get it's speed, from the differences of speeds - the acceleration. No need for extra data bytes.

You just need to jump from a ramp and get the vertical acceleration.

2) Gravity constant is there in the memory, search for "-9.81".

Quote from tristancliffe :Gravity isn't a constant at all. It just so happens that the average value at sea level over the earth is 9.80665 m/s/s. A higher altitudes (out the range of a racing sim) it decreases.

Not that it matters, but I wonder if LFS's gravity is constant or if Scawen programmed it to take into acount altitide variations :

Yes, at the top of mt. Everest the gravity is 99,7% of that at the sea level. At the height of Alpha orbital station the gravity is 85-90% of normal.

It was funny to modify the constant to make gravity at the level of Mars... Everything is so slow and the jumps are can be high.

In the first video it's the rear window glass. It dropped out of the window and was already distorted, so the accumulated tension made such an effect.

Holy sh*t!!!

I guess the Zil (the bigger one) pressed the GAZelle to the wall before they appeared in the camera scope. And then the GAZelle just hit a column.

Another video: LADA 2109 (folk name "Chisel") moves to the left row to pass another 2109 in the middle row, the blue LADA 2105's driver nervously turns and crashes into the wall. Keep in mind that in Russian cities the drivers do not use to use safety belts (arguing that they go slowly in the city and thus safely).

Another one:

And the third:

The Opel (BMW?) moves to the left row, then notices a very fast Mercedes, tries to avoid it, but Mercedes driver also tries to move to the right and they both collide and run into the wall. The Mercedes driver is responsible, because he was going too quickly, exceeding the limits. The Opel dissapeares in the service box.

The tunnel is in Moscow, I guess in the central part. So there is quite a lot of idiots per square meter.

Quote from Clownpaint :It's not what Americans think. It's what the vast majority of people seem to think these days internationally. Especially with the new generations being into big explosions, hip hop and hollywood. They need to be kept entertained and motorsport doesn't do it for them. All my life I've stuck to my guns and tried to get as many people into motorsport as I can but they just aren't interested. I always get the same responses "Why do you enjoy watching cars go round in circles?!", "Why don't you just go and watch cars on the road?" and other ridiculous statements. I got those sort of responses more in high school though. As you get older you become more open minded and respect others views. But kids, unless they inherit the passion for motorsport generally just don't like it.

I think it depends on the age and "habits" taken very early. Those who mastered racing, music, whatever particular craft, learned the basics and learned to enjoy it in childhood from parents. There are many stories of jazz musicians whose fathers were fond of jazz, listened to it and took their boys to concerts in clubs. The same for motorsports, IMO.
