First thing i tried with the new patch was "Shift-Lock" with the XRG.
3rd gear 6000 RPM press the clutch shift to 2nd and then just kick the clutch without to heel and toe at all.
Nada Zippo niente. The rear wheels didnt lock up at all.
Try this in real life or better not. On trackday I locked up my wheels once when i didnt get heel and toe 100% right and that was far from being as brutal as my try in LFS.
Me also wanted one but then i went to the shop and bought a black HJC CL-14. Was on 50% sale because the new model came out and its a good helmet doesnt look bad either. I would look out for this kind of deals. Might be cheaper as 100 pound. I paid 70 Euro.
After we learned there are many so many english and german speaking members here who probably like to get drunk sometimes the amount theoretically must be even higher
I would aim for something not as old and exotic as some cars you have on your list because you can be 99% sure these cars ARE $$$ black holes. I speak out of experience ... I mean you get what you pay for. Surely you need to invest a lot of money in those cars if you want to keep them in good condition
If you are not a good mechanic i would stay away from them.
You can check some things with a test drive and listening to the engine (drive chain ... hydros etc) and look for oil in the cooling water and the other way round. You still wont find small cracks in the cylinder head or see how much oil and water it might eat with this if they just did a cooling flush and did wash the engine. How the engine looks inside and how long it will last ... You can do compression test if the owner is okay with it that will tell some things but still to be really sure you would have to take the whole engine apart.
To make a long story short ... old expensive car and engine goes bang or needs maintainance ... not good
For that kind of money you could get a nice Nissan 200SX (S14) from lets say 1997-1999 with just 70.000 km on the clock !!!
Well i would have bought one myself but the downside was here in germany the insurance for this car is insanely high and parts are also not cheap because its jap.
Again thats my view because i had some bad experiences you could of course be more lucky then me ...
I also went to one race of the Danish Touring Car Championship because Padborg Park circuit is just about 150 km from where i live and the supporting events are really good action as well. You can watch a whole day long races from all sorts of classes enter the paddock talk with the drivers and so on . and lets not forget about the Poelser
I hope i can get my BMW E30 318is ready for one of the last track days this year and then compare ... There are a few things left i have to install/fix.
My car matches the XRG. Exactly the same engine specs and weight !!
Well i removed the rear seats to make room for a bucket seat and 3 point harness plus removed the glovebox and radio and so on. It also got front and rear strutbar, msmotorsport flywheel and racing ECU.
Walter Roehrl - Porsche GT3 - Nurburgring Nordschleife in Wet Conditions
On a wet track Walter Roehrl drives some lucky winners around the Nordschleife during the Bilstein Performance Days on Juli 30th, 2007. Tricky conditions demand everything from the Rallye World Champion and worn tires are not of much help.
Its still the old design they are upgrading to some new designs and plattform sharing which is introduced in the new A5. Actually the current A5 already got it.
I did drive for Audi for one year and can say pretty boring cars to drive compared to BMW. Yeah and i also drove the RS4 RS6 etc well anything except R8 and on the BMW side M6 etc...
I wont drive the new RS6 so i cant comment on that one.
On the WTCC site you can watch the race live but the quality isnt that good. Still i watch race 1 there because its broadcasted by this paytv eurosport channel or its just that i cant receive it where i live ...
All i can say is when you will face such a situation you will not think about theory you will just do what your guts tell you
Not so long ago i experienced some sudden unexpected oversteer with my BMW 318is.
I drove onto the Autobahn and it just started to rain. The tarmac was very slippery and different layers which had been repaired ... so old and new tarmac there. A bit downhill as well.
I was driving through the turn and suddenly lost the rear ... i was doing 80 kmh already.
I think i had almost a nice 45 degree slip angle and a vision of my car kissing the armco. Then my arms magically did rotate by themselves and i modulated the throttle a bit (i think first a bit off the gas then stepped on it just a tad).
End of story : car straight and safe ... nothing happend
