Quote from Gentlefoot :On the Gentlefoot.com#1 and gentlefoot.com#2 servers we rarely have wreckers. It's so rare in fact that vote bans are not enabled. A number of my memebers know the admin password and they are under strict instruction to only issue bans once the replay has been reviewed (unless the admin was watching the incident in its entirety).

So come join us on gentlefoot.com#1 for FO8 action. No bans, no wreckers, just friendly racers who share sets and work at improving everyone's skills including their own.

What you have to realise about the majority of oval racers:

They are morons.

I know that it is less than realistic to have a button press that shows you a full rear view, and I also know how hard we try for realism, but come on... I'm attempting to drive a car by looking at a computer monitor... not that realistic! I would prefer to be able to do the Exorcist head spin to REALLY see exactly what's behind me.

My two cents...

Sorry for the hijack, but I am having similar problems. Although I am not using a wireless router, I still find myself lagging after 10 minutes or so in a server. I currently use a cable modem(Motorola SURFboard SB5101), followed by a wired router (SMC7004VBR ) splitting from there to 2 PCs using RJ45 cable (50 feet to one PC and 10 feet to the other). The only fix I can find is to bypass the router altogether, which does not please my significant other. My router is old, but is it the problem?

Well, I am on my second G25. I had the reverse gear go on me. It showed sixth gear in sixth and reverse. After a bit of a run around, I finally got an RMA from Logitech. They totally agreed that the shifter was broken. Unfortunately, they wanted the whole wheel, pedals and shifter back for replacement.... at MY cost for shipping. I live in Western Canada, and Logitech is in California. 30 some Canuck bucks later, I agreed to ship.(Overnight shipping was more than the cost of the wheel). They eventually sent me a brand new wheel, all very nice, but the reverse gear died with a month.
I'm not sending it back...if I want an h-shifter, it's gonna be a 5 gear transmission. All that negativity aside, it is the best wheel I've had.... bar none! That list includes the thrustmast t1 (elastic band centering), the red Momo, and the black Momo, which is my backup still.

Well, I don't have a death grip on the wheel, but I'll tell ya, my jaw hurts from unconsciously clenching down. I know I've been racing too long when my face hurts.
Oh, and Maggot, I empathize with the above normal body temperature thing.... maybe it's a Canadian thing... born and raise in the Prairies... you either get warm from shivering or freeze into a popsicle. I got warm!

I've lived in Winterpeg, <brrr>; have been carried away by mosquitoes...not that there were lots,,, they were just big! I called Esterhazy home for a while... and if you're not from Saskabush, you won't know where I mean... born in Cowtown, spent 6 years in Red Deer (just doesn't have a good nick name...lol) ,,,, lived like a good Hunky in Yadmunchuck before moving to the HOT place... B.C. interior... Rutland to be specific, but I now call the Wet Coast home and have been living in North Delhi for the past couple of decades.

I thought I might use the double play of my name and nationality versus my name and what I make for a living. If you check my avatar, you'll see many thousands of tin cans in the back ground. As for what I'm holding on to, you need to see my license plate to know my favorite brand.

P.S. My license plate reads "mirafone".

For me, they sound a lot more like a car and less like a tuba

Usually I'm in the low 60s. I use the tires view, as I want to see as much of the moving area, (road) as I can. I also use a fresnel lens with a slider mechanism that allows me to move the lens from 1 " to about 10" from my monitor. I move my fov with the hat switch, so I keep it a little higher for race starts and gradually move it down towards 60 degrees. I haven't used the track Ir for quite a while... never could get the settings to feel comfortable... maybe someone could send me their settings that work for them?

I thought I might pose a different sort of view. In Canada, we frown on these sorts of things. In fact,

" Under the Criminal Code of Canada, it is an offence to knowingly utter or convey a threat to cause death or bodily harm to any person. It is also an offence to threaten to burn, destroy or damage property or threaten to kill, poison or injure an animal or bird that belongs to a person.

The offence of utter death threat may be prosecuted by summary conviction or by indictment. If prosecuted by indictment, the accused person is entitled to elect trial by jury and upon conviction is liable to up to five years jail."

Have a nice day!

Sorry, but I must add this. A tennis ball is not a raquet ball is not a squash ball. They are three different things, three different sizes, and believe you me bob, you ain't gonna fit either a tennis ball or a raquet ball into a MOMO!

I did use the squash ball mod at one time (previous pedals). It did give me somewhat more of a brake pedal "feel" but I finally found that just regulating my foot pressure was the ticket. It also had the feeling of stressing too many plastic parts (creaking) so I'm back to the originals.

Use 7 for left
8 for right
9 for hazards
0 for lights off

Ctrl+ F9 to F12 are just more empty spaces you can use for binds ala F1 toF8.

Also, if you check in your doc folder under keys.pdf, you will find a more complete list of the keyboard binds.
That being said, I haven't mapped any turn signals into my 6 button wheel. I need my handbrake and horn!

Double beaten to it!

Any of you old time LFSers remember getting into trouble up here?

BTW, I can't get my brake pedal to work? throttle is ok, mapped as separated axes, switch axes and I have brake but no throttle.

Another "sim-dad" reporting in. 3 girls and 1 grand-daughter! The little one has sat in my lap for a few turns around the track ( she wants to eat the wheel I think). My daughters have all given it a try at one time or another, but it just "ain't their thang". My wife can't watch as it gives her motion sickness, so I'm pretty much on my own in this.

The only thing better than having children is having grandchildren! It's even more fun this time around.
