Suforr stuns Thehemuli in Autocross Night Thriller!!

Autocross Retro saw the most titanic LMP1 fight we've seen happening so far in Retro Cup.

Under the lights, it was a showdown for honour between reigning champion ZFRL Thehemuli and Class rookie [MRc]suforr, who showed tremendous pace from practice.

The two of them were glued together by an invisible force for the first 30 laps of the race, exchanging position multiple times.

REWATCH THE RACE ON SBTV!

The peak of the battle arrived on Lap 28, where the two went side by side in the last sector of the track and into the last corner, touching each other!
Suforr spun his purple-spanish Ferrenzi car on acceleration, while Thehemuli decided to pit.

The race seemed to turn towards Thehemuli's favour, but Suforr laid down the hammer in the next few laps, taking the lead again while Thehemuli was involved in more traffic woes, after the shocking Westhill debut.

The finn driver settled down for second place, while Suforr crossed the line victorious on class debut!
Can he be a new title contender?

Behind, it was an equally exciting race: S1DUS Unite and RG^Rony battled each other hard in the opening act of the race, before the race green ace took P3 on his Ferrisaurus car!

Unite seemed content with P4, but a monumental crash ended his hopes: it was an unlucky day at the office for Championship Leader S.Martin, who went into tech trouble in the first part of the race, losing precious laps of racing before rejoining: still solid points scored for him.

It was another difficult day for ZFRL LG-Mies, involved in a series of incidents, and seconds off the pace.

LMP2

This year's LMP2 season is set to be one of the best one yet in Retro Cup: if round 1 saw victory for Mazdarati, making the most of Dennis Lind's incidents, Round 2 saw one of the best class battles we've seen so far in the series.

Pole was taken again by Mazdarati, but right behind him a super fast series debutant, Thorsten Ulrich was set to upset the LMP2 champion.

The thing was clear from the get go, with Ulrich taking the lead and pushing to extend the gap: behind, Mazdarati, J.Cooper and SKULL Simox followed in close formation for the opening act of the race.

Drama for series organizer RG^Lorenzo, who was touched from behind from J.Cooper out of Corner 1, while slowing down to avoid a Group 5 car.
A racing incident for the italian, who encountered in more misfortunes a few laps later, when he lost connection.

But the race heated up in the last quarter of the race, with a monumental battle taking place at the front: Mazdarati caught back Ulrich and the new started a box office battle, with multiple position exhanges.
At the end, series rookie T.Ulrich managed to keep his head cool, passing Mazdarati with millimetric precision out of the stadium section, than retaining the lead until the end.

It's victory at debut for T.Ulrich, who is set to become a big championship protagonist and Mazdarati's possible biggest rival yet in the series.

The podium was completed by J.Cooper on his yellow-black Wessex, a solid race for him after an unlucky debut in Westhill: P4 at the line for SKULL SIMOX who was involved in incidents through the race, while P5 finishes another series debutant Crack, in a solid position keeping it clean all the way!

P6 for RG^Lorenzo, who managed to rejoin the competition after the early dramas.

GROUP 5

Group 5 delivered a bit more action in Autocross Retro, despite still being low attended: pole was taken by [SyN]C.Tawn, ahead of debutant [MRc]Andrieh,[MRc]TimDC and [MRc]jsk, a trio of Master Race driver!

Since the first few laps of the race it was clear that Tawn had the upper hand on pace, but behind it was a close contest, with plenty of battles expecially between JSK and Andrieh, who fought hard while in costant traffic.

Meanwhile, TimDC encountered issues along the way, being involved in incidents and abandoning the race.

But in front, Tawn was solo, and dominant for his first win of the Season, as he launches himself at the top of the Group 5 standings!
P2 on the finish line for JSK, who managed to have the upper hand on Andrieh, who completes the podium.

GROUP 4

Once again, Group 4 proved to be the most popular class and car of the day, with 11 drivers completing qualifying!

Pole was taken by [TC-R]Adam with three tenths over [SyN]HIWATT and YES Sobis, as these three seems to have a slight advantage over the rest of the field at the moment.

The start of the race was DRAMATIC: Sobis misjudged the pit wall entry position, and slammed into the tyre wall, before rolling over back onto the racing line, involving RG^NOSLE and RG^MACI3K in the crash.

Meanwhile, Adam mantained the lead going into Turn 1: the first few laps were hectic, with the Group 4 cars peleton separated by just few tenths, but lap after lap Adam began to build a solid lead over HIWATT and the other in pursuit.

Meanwhile, Sobis and NOSLE started their comeback driver after the lap 1 incident, slowly but steadily gaining back positions.
The two of them eventually merged into a spectacular wheel to wheel battle, that was one of the highlights of the race: at the end, Sobis managed to get in front of NOSLE!

More drama in the race, as [SyN]HIWATT, one of the championship favourites makes a big mistake in the backstraight section and is forced to restart from the pits, losing precious time.

Meanwhile at the front, Adam was crossing the chequered flag in solitary and dominant fashion: who can stop the [TC-R] ace from the next round?
P2 at the chequred flag for HIWATT, who managed to keep P2 despite his crash, while SOBIS and NOSLE climbed back up to P3 and P4!

Top 5 is completed by /SRP/Kamileon ahead of teammate /SRP/Grzanka, as the two of them were often together on track!
Final Group 4 at the line is S.Tomus, who was involved in a series of incidents through the race, ending up P7.

ROAD CLASS

For the shock of the Retro Cup experts, only three Road Cars showed up for Round 2 of the Season: RG^M@CI3K on Porsche saw an opportunity and pushed hard right from qualifying, taking a commanding pole ahead of teammate RG^Rayman and SGR Madjester in his orange Piran.

The race start was hectic, as M@CI3K was a victim of the SOBIS-NOSLE start incident: the Porsche whisperer lost precious time, while RAYMAN and Madjester took the lead of the race.

Rayman and Madjester, both on Piran Fireflys, soon merged into a spectacular and classic Road Class battle: at the end it was Madjester who had the upper hand, launching himself into the lead of the race.

Meanwhile RG^M@CI3K was pushing hard to get back into the fight, setting fastest laps: but at the front it all went wrong for RG^Rayman, who smashed hard his Piran Firefly in the backstraight and flew all over into the Main straight, upside down.

It was race over for the Race Green driver, and just 2 Road Class drivers remained on track: Madjester seemed to have the victory in his pocket, but yet another late race puncture forced the Piran driver to pit for wheel change.

RG^M@CI3K was not far, and capitalized on the rival issues, taking the lead of the race and mantaining it till the chequered flag!

The PORSCHE WHISPERER is BACK on the top step of the podium, after two seasons of disappointements: the pole driver finds himself comfortable in the new Poscher car: can he become a proper championship contender and claim back his legendary status?
