The new year of RTFR racing action was kicked off with the least popular car of LFS - the finnish student's created real world car Raceabout. Despite unpopularity the event still reached all time attendance average of 15 and marginally exceeded the RAC average of 9.9 drivers per event. All 15 starters also completed the race in the lead lap,which is 1st 100% finishing percentage since 210th RTFR,where also 15 drivers started and finished,all time best is still 17 and that was recorded twice.
Being the fastest in qualifying does not necessary mean guaranteed win - Unite qualified just 3,but cought and challenged the leader in lap 11 and completed the pass for lead lap later. Unite led the remaining 7 laps to become the 18th driver who has scored 5 or more wins in RTFR races - that puts him in 16th position in all time success ranking. He also set his 8th fastest lap of the race (tied 4th most) and added 23rd top5 finish to his achievements. After scoring 9th pole position (coincidentally also tying for 4th position in it's chart) Fast seemed to be on way to another victory,but he could not keep his race pace high enough to defend it and had to settle for 2nd place finish - 12th top5 finish for him. Different story is for the 3rd place finisher - until this race Ngottini could reach just 6th position with 4 tries,in this race he improved his best qualifying and race achievements to accordingly 2nd place and 3rd place. It was the 5th race also for Simox,but his 4th place finish is "just" a 4th overall top5 finish and slightly more RTFR-race experienced J.Katila finished 5th and scored his 3rd top5 finish.
RTFR now takes it's usual 2 weeks break and will return with one of the slick tyres wearing cars,more details as always in weekend before it. 3 weeks after this race also the RTFR XL year will kick off - combo (UF1@AS7R) is known already since the finish of last XL race.
