DVI Converter Issues
On the back of my PC on the onboard graphics I have a DVI-D slot (click here to see what I mean)

I have a VGA 20" screen I would like to plug into this.

All my adaptors have the 4 square pins around the straight bar, whereas the socket doesn't. Am I screwed trying to plug any VGA device into this?

Is there any converter or adaptor I can get or not?
You probably can get an AV DAC converter, but they won't be cheap. Much cheaper to buy a digital input monitor.

Or change your graphics card...?

why not just plug the monitor into it and see what it does?

Because I can't... DVI-D doesn't have the analogue pins whereas the converter does. They physically wont fit.

I've found a DVI-D -> VGA converter on eBay which will plug in but I just thought i'd check it's possible passively...
