Just remembered my login and figured I'd stop in. I just booted some LFS to play some online, but thought, wow, I haven't ventured the forums in forever.

To be very brief, this game means a lot to me, it has saved me in some very dark times.

I thank all of the community for racing with me over the years, and all of the updates, and support, and feedback.

This community means alot to me, don't think my low post count reflects my dedication to this game.

I sincerely hope this game lives on strong, as it has lived and grown strong in the last 18 years I have been playing it.

Still rocking 65nm tech here, an old HP microATX case thats been stripped of everything. Cooler Master 460w PSU with hacked up casing, aftermarket fan. Have an overclocked nvidia 240GT (GDDR5 version) with an Arctic Cooling unit. Gigabyte motherboard, 4gigs of DDR3, and a 32gig SSD.

Most of those parts are recent upgrades. I've been using an e2140 for a little over 2 years now. Started off at 1.6, sat at 2.1ghz with a pin-mod on the old HP board. Got it to 2.8 on my new board. Used an HD4350 for a year and a half overclocked, before switching to my GT240, made a world of difference.

I'm not in a hurry to upgrade to new technology. Before this system I was using a socket 478 celeron for 5-6 years with no complaints. I'll get pics up once I clean my case up a bit.

I have had an S2 license for a couple years now, so please don't flame.

Well breadfan (nice name btw) I started off on the losing side, and although I'm still losing, I have still made progress towards winning

Good day to you LFS'ers. I thought I'd make a thread, to share some of my more recent thoughts about LFS. Coming back after a long time I've noticed a few things that I really like.

Some may know me, a hell of a lot of you don't, but I did leave the game and the forum for quite a long time. I had many personal things to deal with and confront, and so far it's a losing battle, but I am making some progress.

Also, I lost access to internet for several months, which really turned me away from the computer, for the better. I spent more time doing other things and successfully recorded a full EP with my band.

However, upon returning to LFS and seeing the new development, the LFSTweak for patch Z, and the forum activity, I've really been assured that LFS will continue to grow to limitless ends.

This game has the potential to be legendary on all parts, and it's good to see more and more people become aware of that. It's great to come back to these forums and see that we are still growing.

Thanks to all the developers for making this amazing sim for us, and thanks to all the dedicated members for keeping these forums and our servers growing.

Have you considered the fact that maybe all the electrical devices near the PS3 and 360 are hindering the signal coming from the wireless? I mean, I'm no expert, but wouldn't electronic interferance cause an unstable signal?

Happy 4:20! :)

(I am in no way encouraging the use of any illegal drugs, this is simply a recognition of a pop-culture holiday, please don't start doing the pro's or con's of getting high)

I'd like to say Happy 4:20 to any of the hippies/stoners in the LFS Forum community. We take this day to recognize how a simple plant can bring many people together in peace. So please, indulge, enjoy, relax, today is THE day to do so.

For those not aware, 4:20 originated from students of San Rafael High School in the early 70's. The students would meet everyday at 4:20 after school at a Statue of Louis Pasteur to get high. The term '4:20' started being used as a 'code' amongst stoners whenever they needed to keep the topic of drugs silent. The popularity evolved it into an international 'holiday' on April 20th (read 4/20 in date stamping)

I wish everybody a good day, regardless of morals, beliefs, or hobbies. The weather is even beautiful up here, so enjoy your Sunday everybody!

I've thought about doing that before, to FPS sake, but never actually tried.

Yeah, generally speaking, keylogger virus' are pretty easy to get rid of. Even Sbybot, Adaware, and some registry scanning should be able to shake loose any keylogger virus, unless it's currently active and very interconnected with running processes. In that case just boot in safe mode, with bare nessesities, before you scan.

CRT Owners! I need help

Well I have, in my opinion, quite the nice CRT monitor, considering its age. It is a ViewSonic UltraBrite E70f+, bought brand new in 2003. It has been on daily, for maybe 9-10 hours a day, since I bought it. For a year I would shut the monitor off after use, but I started just leaving it in standby. I've always used 1024x768 32bit @ 85hz, and occasionally 1280@75hz.

Lately, I've noticed it takes a while to 'warm up' For instance, If I turn the computer off at night, and turn it all back in the next morning, my monitor takes 5-10 minutes to achieve its full brightness, colour balancing, and dimensions. It seems odd, It's always had a little 'warm up' time, but I don't recall anything near 5 minutes. However, once the monitor is 'warmed up' it will keep it's amazing quality for as long as I leave the monitor on. It makes no noise, generates no warmth, and it has been cleaned out thoroughly three times.

Any idea if my monitor might actually be dying? I sure hope not, do any other CRT users experience this?

Congratulations! I wish you and your growing family all the support! May I ask, where came the name? Was it an idea, or is Nicole a familiar name to you? I'm also glad to hear you got the chance to take nice interior shots for references, that must help.

Yo guys! Hate to make my revisit so late, but I just realized something. I've been kickin' back, munchin' some popcorn, smokin' some ghaunja, and skimming through this thread.

I came here asking about 20" vs 22" on comfort level and size comparing. All I get is "LuLZZ TN pannels are teh gehh"; "CRT leik ownnzz mon"; "Rarrr I got three screens, ubberrr" and "Yo''ss nobody notices nethin monn, chill out"

Just kiddin' But seriously, this is one heck of a debate

No, it's all in the way the game is scripted. Say you had a 2.6ghz dual core, LFS (being as its written for single core processors) will simply see it as a 2.6ghz processor, and the entire game will only use power from the first core. However, with a dual core you can dedicate and ENTIRE core to a single executable, and everything else (background tasks, operating systems, misc apps) onto the other core to maximize efficiency.

I definatly do NOT recomend overclocking VIA software. Like jakg said they have automatic voltage bumps. Your voltages seem to be all over the place. That chip should be able to do much better then 2.8ghz and stay in safe temps. 500x7 should work on that P35 board, assuming you have RAM that can cope with it. Just learn the BIOS off the bat, you won't regret it. It's actually much easier once you know your way around it.

Well the option is already there anyways... I can go buzz about for a few laps, change my driving side via option menu, and keep racing. Having it in the pit menu is just more convienient. I've never personally tried driving on the right hand side in LFS, but I imagine I wouldn't run as fast lap times, because I'm comfortable on the left side.

www.canadacomputers.com I've been shopping around a LOT lately, and they seem to have the best prices, and best shipping policies. Plus, their site is simple to use, and very tidy.

Like Jakg said, just setup a simple proxy server. Hell, back when I had highspeed I'd set up a proxy server on my home connection, and just access it from school VIA I.P addressing. Worked like a charm, I got lovely speed, and decent latency. It was practically un-traceable, and wasn't hard to setup and take down (Simple changes to FF proxy settings)

Hmm, so stay away from the 22" screens because they use TN pannels? I have a beautiful CRT monitor at the moment, so I have a rather high demand for imagine quality. I was using a school computer on a 20" Acer, and it seemed well enough size, and on it's 'standard' setting I believe it looked rather well, of course not the same as the warmer CRTs.

PS, little off topic but I was figuring something out at school. Do I give off the impression that I'm a fairly well-spoken, mature teenager for a 15 year old? Seems like lately people have started commenting about it at school, and even over facebook and msn.

The 2600XT is a decent card, I suppose. It's a heck of a lot better then anything that was in your old PC. It has DX10 capability, and lots of memory for modern gaming. It isn't exactly 'TOP of the line' However, it is still a powerful card non-the-less, and I'm sure you'll be more then satisfied with it.
