An Australian You Tuber who has a great (Western) overview of Russia's mistakes regarding this war.
It does involve history and an hour of your life, but if you think information is a good way to understand events then I recommend a watch.

Yes, my view is biased to where I live, that should hardly be surprising really.
Yes, I live in a location which has a low population and yet quite long distances.

And, if Auckland only reaches no 40 in Germany (no idea, can't be bothered checking this) then fine. The point I was trying to make is that in NZ, our govt is busy making me pay for people to buy EV's and also making me pay extra to buy a non EV that actually does what I need from a vehicle.

We have sweet FA infrastructure so even if I wanted to 'Save the Planet' by buying an EV it's not going to be a viable solution until our Govt gets their finger out of where ever it is currently located and actually puts in place the infrastructure to support the crap they are currently spouting telling us all to buy EV's and financially punishing us for making a rational choice and purchase a vehicle that actually works in our current situation.

My other very major concern with EV's is what measures do countries have CURRENTLY to recycle lithium batteries to prevent waste and pollution, not to mention the serious Health and Safety concerns with fire from these batteries, especially with the storage of waste batteries when not recycled efficently. ?

FYI, we have zero idea on how to deal with these batteries... And not only us.

https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2022/12/recycling-firm-fined-after-tossed-batteries-cause-garbage-truck-fires/
"While this case involves the owners of an e-waste business that (by law) should have known better than to toss batteries into standard recycling, batteries continue to be the leading cause of fires in the waste stream. A 2018 survey of recycling facilities by the California Product Safety Council found that 83 percent of 26 facilities had a fire in the two years prior, and 65 percent of them were caused by batteries. A study in MDPI by Austrian professors found that, amid increased numbers of fires and significant potential for damage, "No other substance or material has ever comparably endangered the whole waste industry" as discarded portable batteries."

Great to see the conversation regarding infrastructure, a very valid issue.

Here, just for the LOL's is the NZ Govt policy.... "Yeah, Right"
https://www.nzta.govt.nz/vehicles/vehicle-types/electric-vehicles/

Want to know how many EV charging stations I have available within 80Km ???, 0, this is actually correct, none, zero, zip, nada.....
This info is from our Govt.

Which would appear to suggest that your cheap imported Nissan Leaf is not the vehicle to actually travel anywhere to here.

"...As you’d expect, this results in accelerated degradation. It’s not uncommon for earlier model Leafs to suffer up to 23% energy loss in the first six years. That may not sound like a ton, but for a car that started with a potential 135km range on a full battery, that’s a reduction to 104km before it’s even celebrated its seventh birthday"
https://thespinoff.co.nz/money/25-05-2021/the-one-big-problem-with-new-zealands-favourite-electric-vehicle

And I live within 2 hours (130 Km (cus traffic)) of our capital, in the NZ equivalent of a major town on 2 State Highways, 3 & 4, and still zero infrastructure.

Still, isn't the propoganda awesome..

I'm talking to both sides...

Without understanding history you cannot understand the present.

Russia, I understand your point of view however this war, INHO, is not the way to achieve your desired outcomes.

Those of you from the West, try reading this because that may help you to understand the Russian position.

The West has no interest in peace here as we are still in WW part 3, aka, the Cold War, which the West believes winnable.

All I am trying to say is,

A: The West is going full on for WW part 3.

B: Russia could have choosen a better response.

However, given where we currently are ( Please try to read the link ) then Peace Talks seem to me to be a sensible choice.....

Not expecting that to happen as the West is in full on war mode.
Again, try to study previous wars regarding resources.
( Oil anyone ? )

Please try to study European history to understand whats happening today.

Even I got to look at this in NZ in the 1970's, FFS. Schwitz
The lack of knowledge today from you Europeans is disturbing.

https://youtu.be/H_cXXePNW9w

And this is before WW part 1 or WW part 2.
Or even the current war.

Please try to actually learn and understand recent, and not so recent, history, as that will help you to understand the situation today.Face -> palm

Quote from Aleksandr_124rus :
Yes, it's funny that is a crazy grandpa there too. But the US has a system of checks and balances, high bureaucracy, and bipartisanship. All this helps a crazy leader not to start making idiotic decisions. He can do some things. But he does not have full power like Putin.

Not completely confident about that, hasn't made the media here for some reason, Shrug but I'd suggest reading this in addition to what I've already said re China.

Interesting times lie ahead.

Quote from Aleksandr_124rus :Ok, but that doesn't make sense to me. I will say more, Russian Federation ≠ Russia ≠ USSR. Russia ended in 1917. And difference between Russian Federationin and USSR in territories and ideologies. Politics, and attitude to people like cattle, (thanks to the West) remained similar. Now is Russian Federation is post Soviet country with many people who were born and raised in the Soviet Union. And the plan of the communist socialists was to grow a new kind of man. I won't explain it in a long text, but for short - in many ways they succeeded. In Russian Federation, there will be no changes for a long time until the infection indoctrinated into people's heads degenerates and die out.

In simple words, yes. But there are nuances that I described above.

There are no winners here, what they call winning is only the spread of their globalism and the weakening of the leadership of other countries through wars despite the fact that they themselves suffer losses through the supply of weapons and hydrocarbons prices. For those who seek to present themselves as the most civilized and correct, this is an extremely hypocritical thing.

I may call Putin crazy, but his speech about a multipolar world in 2007 is mostly correct. Although, since then, in some things he contradicts himself.

YES !!!

What you say here is correct, the same as what I have said many times. ( And I'm an insane conspiracy theorist who is hated by most people here, welcome to my world...)

Global Politic's is very complicated with layer over layer parts of the game.

I have the advantage of studying this since the 1980's, this is simply the latest stage of the game.

Just watch what happens with the latest Chinese move's here.

And this is currently the US position...

Land of the Free, Home of the Brave.

Or, perhaps a bit blunter regarding the US.

Round here, USSR = Russia.
Yes, I'm aware of the difference, however don't expect that from most people commenting.

Here, in the West, China and Russia are allied. Strange point of view as India and other countries are involved with the 'New Silk Road' but that is the Western opinion.

I have no idea how this can currently be de-escalated, Putin has doubled down, as has the West so as someone who grew up in the 60's with the threat of WW part 3 this is the closest I have seen to a world wide nuclear war.

IMHO, a F#@! stupid idea but the West seem's really clear that they believe this to be winnable.

Lets try this conversation.
The West has being trying to take out Russia since 1945, welcome to the Cold War.

Actually a Hot War..., see Malaya, Korea, Vietnam, Africa ( Insert every war here )

As I see it, the US, (Farces For Good,) are concerned about China, the real problem today in the Pacific.

Please remember that NZ is part of 5 Eyes, we are on the West's side, so this is a Western viewpoint.

China is threatening to take out Taiwan so attacking any possible allies of China is high on the US game plan, and Russia, to the US, is low hanging fruit.

I just disagree with the way this is going, not being a fan of a nuclear apocalypse.
